Hi everybody!
I was searching something about a MIUI port for our ZTE Blade, because if It can be ported to a Motorola Defy or a Acer Liquid, with no 1ghz processor or in a Nexus One with the same Adreno GPU as our device, I think that an experienced developer can port it to our device, because here and in another forums, as Modaco or HTCMania (for spanish speaking users) we have excellent rom bakers
Here are the sources, the are definitelly experimental and not useful for single users, just like me:
h ttp://android.modaco.com /topic/327783-wip-miui-por ting/
Hope it can help a developer, if I could I'd help you, but I have no idea of programming and I'm not useful with this stuff. Hope that this project is OK and maybe, in a close future, we'll have a fully working MIUI in our device
Regards!
P.D: This software belongs to the developer that left this project, it's not my software. I've just copied the link.

Those aren't MIUI sources. MIUI is closed source. The only compiled versions are for armv7 phones, so they don't work at all on the armv6 blade. The only people that could make a blade version are the MIUI developers, so go & hassle them.

Sounds good, if they do release the source code then somebody should work on a blade port. Nothing can be done until they release something close to the full source, I just see a few little apps on there at the moment.

Yes that portrom had a massive guide but its all in Chinese it looks like it merges parts of MIUI into stock/cm7 roms for phones that don't have it. But the 35page PDF is all Chinese. And yes they only opensorced a few things at the moment, them few apps and I'm sure the framework is too within the portrom folder.

there is increasing unofficial installs of CM on u8800. it is placed at 22 wrt 32 last week ranking. will the counting at http://stats.CyanogenMod.com help getting official CM9??
Yes. Or atleast i think so.

First must find a developer who can make it official. Genokolar has used a lot of "dirty" tricks in cm7 and this is far from official.

HCDR.Jacob was taking donations to develop an official CM7 to our u8800, but I never saw or heard anything about that official version. Wasted donations then...
HCDR.Jacob has quit and send his work to TomGiordano, dzo, genokolar and bukington to continue.
And when did this happen? And does tom have u8800? Well, is still hope we get an official cm even thought genos work very well.

Jacob hasn't quit. He is still developing the port, however at a slower pace due to a lot of personal problems. Only thing left to do is get the camera fully working without any hacks. Once that has been done it'll be submitted to gerrit, verified to ensure that it doesn't break any other devices then the u8800 will have an official CM7.2 ROM. After that work can continue to update the device configuration for CM9.

hi @all, i want to do something more for u8800pro community and i want to build an aosp ics rom.
i have seen the aurora ics for u8800, so ics on u8800pro is not impossible.
i have not enough skills to make immediatly a good rom, so i am searching for people who could help me.
I think that a good way to carry on this project is to build a team of developers....this is why i am searching for them.
to build the rom i can use my computer: phenom 2 x4 960t + 8gb ram dual channel 1600mhz should be enough
Hi,
my compliments for this great idea!
I am not a good developer but if you need a tester you can count on me.
I can test about 4 U8800 Pro!

This project needs also a new kernel for ics

the fact that i have opened this project does not mean that we will have an ICS rom for our phone.
this mean that i will TRY to build ics...and i need also to compile a new kernel with new touchscreen driver.
i will try to do that....hoping to obtain a rom
ps: this also means that i stop my project on gb 2.3.7....now that i have a good computer i can build ics
Where are you going to search for new kernel sources?
If I am not wrong, ICS requires 3.0.X Kernels

Stop fragmenting people!
Damn... why on everyone that wants to help, the first thing that pops on their mind is to start something form scratch and then... what do we get with that?
A few very similar ROMs but none fully working.
dzo and Blefish are already working on ICS for U8800 and someone else already said that was working on building it for AOSP (with Blefish's help I guess).
Why not simply contributing to one of those developments, so that we can have less but robust ROMs?
just saying but... u8800 and u8800pro are different, if not i would already have ics on my phone.
Why don't you simply make an Aurora ICS port?
U8800 and U8800 PRO are pratically the same phone... I think it should be easier...
However i'm not an expert, mine is only a question...
I second this. I want some ICS love.

This is awesome. If only the wifi kai kernel drivers are changed between these 2 devices we must donate to dzo for a new u8800pro and he can try his best as he does for u8800.We need something new for u8800pro because all the devs go to u8800(oxygen,ics aurora, elite rom) and we have stay with a cm7 good rom.In chinese forum there are much more roms than here in xda. With someone that knows how to translate these roms we can have a lot more roms for both u8800 and u8800pro.
This might help.
http://www.freeyourandroid.com/guide/porting-android
EDIT:
The kernel of the aurora ROM is compatible!!
Replace the META-INF directory in the aurora ROM by the of Genokolar.
-The ROM worked.
-The camera works.
-Wifi does not work.
-For your first run, turn off the GPS and the phone works.
-Fails Wiper App

I think the devs at CAF are working on JB. Also, Blefish is going to work on CM10 as soon as it reaches RC.
If I knew how to do it. i will start with JB for huawei u8800 :crying:. But i dont know how started with development for huawei u8800.
There is no driver for msm7630. Qualcomm probably won't relase drivers for JB. And ICS drivers will be extremely buggy. So This is over guys, no need for cry.

Thats funny. You think devs are born knowing how to make custom roms? Everyone learnt it. Easy, if you want something, DIY. Thats the android culture.

"(early sample)" I don't think it will pass early sample stage. Maybe end of october we had a JB.
Drivers are not the issue. Older Snapdragon devices (Nexus One, HTC HD2) have working JB ROMs thanks to the drivers released by Qualcomm, my daily driver HTC One V has fully working JB ROMs with those drivers too (Snapdragon S2, Adreno 205).
Be realistic. It's been what, a month since JB code was released? As such I wouldn't expect working ROMs for at least another month or two. And by working I mean booting and e.g. working radio. Our community isn't the biggest after all.
Of course ICS was a huge leap. JB isn't. But that doesn't mean you can quickly build a ROM using ICS-parts and expect a good experience.
I'll try it (make Jelly bean for huawei u8800). I have ubuntu. And i downloaded cm compiler. It will be hard work.
Good luck!

Our community used to be big but since march or february we lost a couple of important devs like genokolar, only a few heroes like blefish or dzo try to work on our little big device, with some work by a dev i'm pretty sure we would have a jb working rom. There's lot of users and only a few devs that's the problem. Our phone is a powerful one with one of the best single core processors and also a good gpu and i think jb would work on it like a charm.

That's the Atrix 2 (OMAP), and that's Ubuntu for Android rather than Ubuntu Phone OS.
Ubuntu for Android, as I understand it, is basically the Webtop that we've already had for some time now and uses the kernel already on the device, whereas Ubuntu Phone OS is a complete replacement for Android, but the details themselves are a bit sketchy, like what display server they're using, what kernel is supported. Wouldn't it be both ironic and disappointing if it required an ICS/JB kernel, especially since we still have a Froyo/GB kernel.

I don't think this will be fully working without an ICS Kernel.
I think an effort like this worths a try, since we can aways update the userspace ubuntu packages, keeping the old kernel. I don't see why the old gingerbread kernel wouldn't work.
