[Q] will CM stats help to get official CM?? - Huawei Ideos X5 U8800

there is increasing unofficial installs of CM on u8800. it is placed at 22 wrt 32 last week ranking. will the counting at http://stats.CyanogenMod.com help getting official CM9??

Yes. Or atleast i think so.

First must find a developer who can make it official. Genokolar has used a lot of "dirty" tricks in cm7 and this is far from official.

Thank you for correctin me. I wonder what those "dirty" tricks are, but maybe its not my business.

CM must be clean enough for the nightly builds. I think that geno do some tricks to get WiFi work fine.

I hope he make some dirty tricks with the Radio soon (for the pro version)

HCDR.Jacob was taking donations to develop an official CM7 to our u8800, but I never saw or heard anything about that official version. Wasted donations then...

HCDR.Jacob has quit and send his work to TomGiordano, dzo, genokolar and bukington to continue.

And when did this happen? And does tom have u8800? Well, is still hope we get an official cm even thought genos work very well.

Jacob hasn't quit. He is still developing the port, however at a slower pace due to a lot of personal problems. Only thing left to do is get the camera fully working without any hacks. Once that has been done it'll be submitted to gerrit, verified to ensure that it doesn't break any other devices then the u8800 will have an official CM7.2 ROM. After that work can continue to update the device configuration for CM9.

That's good news!!! Thanks for the info.
BTW tell Jacob, that we are not idiots as he wrote on his Twitter. We just don't have information.. It will be better if someone could share progress..
EDIT
Genokolar post on weibo (google translate)
For the u8800 tonight if I can solve the wifi hot spots. I will contact the cm, the provision of information on the current transplant, try to contribute to the support of their u8800, if successful, due to basically the same hardware, u8800pro also the equivalent of being supported.

I think the devs at CAF are working on JB. Also, Blefish is going to work on CM10 as soon as it reaches RC.
If I knew how to do it. i will start with JB for huawei u8800 :crying:. But i dont know how started with development for huawei u8800.
There is no driver for msm7630. Qualcomm probably won't relase drivers for JB. And ICS drivers will be extremely buggy. So This is over guys, no need for cry.

Thats funny. You think devs are born knowing how to make custom roms? Everyone learnt it. Easy, if you want something, DIY. Thats the android culture.

"(early sample)" I don't think it will pass early sample stage. Maybe end of october we had a JB.
Drivers are not the issue. Older Snapdragon devices (Nexus One, HTC HD2) have working JB ROMs thanks to the drivers released by Qualcomm, my daily driver HTC One V has fully working JB ROMs with those drivers too (Snapdragon S2, Adreno 205).
Be realistic. It's been what, a month since JB code was released? As such I wouldn't expect working ROMs for at least another month or two. And by working I mean booting and e.g. working radio. Our community isn't the biggest after all.
Of course ICS was a huge leap. JB isn't. But that doesn't mean you can quickly build a ROM using ICS-parts and expect a good experience.
I'll try it (make Jelly bean for huawei u8800). I have ubuntu. And i downloaded cm compiler. It will be hard work.
Good luck!

Our community used to be big but since march or february we lost a couple of important devs like genokolar, only a few heroes like blefish or dzo try to work on our little big device, with some work by a dev i'm pretty sure we would have a jb working rom. There's lot of users and only a few devs that's the problem. Our phone is a powerful one with one of the best single core processors and also a good gpu and i think jb would work on it like a charm.

Our Chinese friends have ported the ShengDu 4.1 ROM (Cyanogenmod 10) from x5pro to our device.
I use this rom about 3 days..my pre-verdict - good.
Camera is work, USB - ADB, flashdrive and modem - work, BT - work (!), WiFi - maybe too
But it seems, ProjectButter not working - have small lags in interface's animation and slower than Aurora (imho). On Atmel screens don't work keyboard backlight and feedback, but the ROM nice working with Aurora's kernel.
And battery will discharge very quickly..

Hey!
It looks like dzo doesn't have any further plans for Aurora ICS update, because it is pretty stable now. I also cannot see any recent activity on dzo's github for Aurora.
Now, the official ICS. I too wanted this event to occur, and I also personally contacted Huawei two times about this, but they have said that they have no plan to release official ics for our phone. But, luckily, forumber2 was able to port official ics from u8800 pro to our phone. Now, he is working the bugs. The only things that are not working in that official ics rom is wifi tether (wifi is working, but no wifi tethering) and Bluetooth are not working. Hope these problems can be fixed soon.
If you have any further questions then you can ask.
