[Q] Fine rotation options - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'll try to make this simple:
I would like to have rotation options like Cyanongen Mod but slightly more specific:
• Auto rotate 0*, 90*, 270* (easily done in CM)
• ALSO rotate the lockscreen the same manner (CM's settings don't allow for this)
I've tried Ultimate Rotate but it's ultimately (ha) not able to disallow 180*.
Any ideas?

Ask the folks on CM 10.1 thread.

try some other apps? i'm using the free "adaptive rotation lock" and it has lots of options, don't know about the lockscreen though.

Why would I clutter up a CM dev thread? No. It's not a CM specific question.
Wondering if anyone would have the expertise to know if this would work:

I'm using ultimate rotate with tasker but it's still not quite right. I'll check out the app you mentioned.

How to disable auto rotate animation on Cyanogen ROM

Hello,
The auto-rotate feature rocks, but in my G1 is too slow because the animations (the blurry one or the window shrinks and tilt animation)
Do you know any way to disable the animations to have an auto-rotate faster?
Thank you very much
Open The Spare Parts app, scroll down to General and uncheck "Fancy rotation animation"

Those disables the fancy animation (shrink and tilt), but not the blurry one.
I want (if possible) this behaviour:

Thanks,
Sorry, thought you just meant the tilt animation. That hack doesn't work on 1.5 :-/
No animation sounds like a good idea to make the orientation switch faster.
Phone seems snappier just by disabling fancy rotation, fancy input, and windows animations / transitions.
Can't wait to see if someone comes up with an answer for this.

[Q] Portrait Lockscreen?

Is there a way to put the lockscreen in portrait only? I have searched for this quite extensively and I have found no setting that can be changed or app that can be installed that will enable this. I would like it to be just the default lock screen turned 90 degrees.
I am running DJ_Steve's 1.5.0.
Thanks
I too would like to know this.
use the search next time and you would know it is not. orientation is built into the kernel and framework. its just not gonna happen.

Thank you for this helpful information. I did use the search and found nothing about it being part of the kernel and framework. The only stuff I found was to use various apps to change the lock screen to something else that would be portrait, and that isn't what I wanted.
I would definitely like to have this as the default setting.
Hope Dell implements this in a future update.

Lock the screen orientation in Paranoid Android 3.15

Hey guys this is probably going to sound dumb, but how do I lock the screen orientation in PA 3.15? I've only been using it for a day and maybe I'm just blind but I can't seem to find it. I wanted to make sure it stays in portrait.
Settings>accessibility>uncheck auto rotate screen
You can also add shortcut to this to your quick settings in status bar

Ahh thanks! I thought that was what the 'lock screen' option was in the quick settings. What does 'lock screen' do then?
That enables/disables the password needed to unlock the phone

Auto-rotate lock screen?

So I'm wanting to auto rotate my N4's lockscreen but I so no native way to do this (Stock rom). Is there a setting I'm missing for this, or is there a setting I can write to a file?
I know Ultimate Rotation Control allows it but I'm looking for a way with doesn't require an app.
Thanks.
You can do that and much more with Gravity Box module for Xposed Framework. Check my signature. It's an app, but it doesn't run in the background.

Screen rotation with 3rd party launchers

After installing NovaLauncher and Apex and have found both are unable to auto-rotate the desktops. Once in an app or menu, the display rotates. Has anyone seen this? I have used NovaLauncher for years now and I've never seen the app behave badly, so I am guessing there is something happening between EMUI and the launcher. I am running EMUI5 on my P10+ and everything runs perfectly. Totally stumped... Is there a setting somewhere that needs to be enabled? Just to be clear, the default launcher works 100% fine. Thanks for reading
Hmm, interesting made me go look as I'm using nova, now my home screen and app drawer don't rotate but all my apps do..including my settings.
Did you try to enable Auto Rotation in Nova Settings->Look&Feel->Screen Orientation?
For me it works on Default, maybe setting this to auto-rotate fixes your issue.
It could also happen because Nova sees your tablet as a phone, as many other apps do. Setting the Screen density in developer options to 711 or higher(my current setting, some lower values may also work) also fixes this.
