So are we going to be lucky enough to have a consistent handset for both US and international customers? It would be awesome for the US community if the devs were able to pool their resources worldwide instead of having to split their efforts.
The carrier branded ones maybe a little different, but the unbranded ones purchased in the US should be like international ones. But still, radios for LTE should be different
HSPA/WCDMA:
Europe/Asia: 850/900/1900/2100 MHz
GSM/GPRS/EDGE:
850/900/1800/1900 MHz
LTE:
EU: 800/1800/2600 MHz
US (AT&T): 700/850/AWS/1900 MHz
US (TMO): 700/AWS MHz
US (Sprint): 1900 MHz
Asia: 1800/2600 Mhz

Thanks for the reply! I knew that carriers used different slices of spectrum and it makes sense that the radios would be different because of that, but will that affect ROM development the way the different processors on the One X have? Like, will it brick your US One if you tried to load an International One custom ROM?

No it won't, but rooting and stuff isn't for average people. You and me and all others who take up the 'risk' and 'time' of rooting can enjoy such privileges. And for the last question, no it wont brick, but obviously you'll have to be rooted to do such stuff And the differences won't be as huge as One X and One XL have.

Thanks again, I really appreciate the information. It definitely encourages me to upgrade even more knowing that there will be an entire WORLD full of people modding the handset.

I apologize if this was already discussed, but did anyone notice the difference in 3G bands between US spec HD2 and Nexus One.
Here are official specs from HTC.
HD2 - WCDMA/HSPA: 1700 MHz (AWS) / 2100 MHz
Nexus One - HSDPA/WCDMA: 900/AWS/2100 MHz
I've read here claims that US T-Mobile splits the uplink(1700)/downlink(2100). How does that fit into this difference in specs, both devices are released on T-Mobile.
Thanks

The answer is right in your post. 1700mhz = AWS.
So 900/AWS/2100 = 900/1700/2100
The tmobileUSA HD2 is dual-band UMTS while the Nexus is tri-band UMTS.
Thanks
That clears it up then.
Thanks
i am stay in england. i want to buy the new hd2.
thx
Do yu really want a phone that is bigger than the one you'd get locally, and won't be able to use 3G?

I agree with the lack of 3G being an issue, but I've gotta have a great big LOL at the size comment. LOL mate - funny.
I've been meaning to ask this question. So how much difference is the size? I heard it was not very noticable. I saw a link that was posted to a blog somewhere. I'm not sure how credible that source is. Is it taller or wider? By how much?
i just know the euro version is 448MB RAM + 512MB ROM but, t-mobile us is 576MB RAM + 1GB ROM.

It's 1.5mm taller - that's all (EU HD2 is 120.5mm and the HD2b is 122mm tall).

The EU version also has 576MB RAM. It's just the ROM that's different.
It is 1.5mm taller. I'm not sure that it will not work on 3G in UK: from the specs it seems that it DOES support 2100MHz UMTS (band I) so it should work in Europe. Notice that the G1 had the same specs and many users reported success when used in Europe.
In that case the European ones should have worked in the US (still talking of 3G of course), but we know they don't...

No why should they? It is very simple to understand how 3G works in different place and with different phones:
T-mobile 3G network operates on UMTS band IV (i.e. 1700 MHz upload and 2100 Mhz download).
ATT operates on UMTS bands II and V (1900 MHz and 850 MHz).
Most European networks are UMTS band I (2100 MHz) and sometimes band VIII (900 MHz).
Now, the specs of TOMUS version of HD2 says that it works BOTH on band I and band IV. That is why it can work both on US T-mobile network and in Europe. It cannot work on the ATT 3G network though.
The EU version of HD2 works on bands I and VIII so it cannot work on either of US 3G networks.

OK, hadn't seen that.
Here is the relevant part from the TMOUS HD2 specs:
Band (frequency): 850 MHz;900 MHz;1800 MHz;1900 MHz;UMTS: Band I (2100);UMTS: Band IV (AWS);UMTS: Band IV (1700/2100).
I'm living in US now but I'll move to Switzerland within a few months. I have ordered this phone for myself since I want to use in Europe.
Btw kilrah, maybe when I arrive in Zurich (that's where I'm going to live) I'll come and visit you
Unlocked TMOUS For Sale
I have one unlocked that I might sell if TMobile decides to charge me a restocking fee to return it. Given the demand I was thinking of selling it for $550usd.
Hi guys, I may get shot down for this, if I do I deserve it!
I just lost my beloved HD2 in London, I have insurance luckily, but I wanted to know if the TMOUS version of the HD2 would work in the UK.
Has anyone tried it yet?
My fiancee is the US right now, and I'm tempted to get one if its possible, but only if it will work over here in the UK.
Really sorry if this has been posted/answered before, but I'm really distraught and my searches weren't bringing up anything solid.
Thanks in advance guys, hope you can advise!
I think it just won't, it's hardcoded to work with US carriers, won't work with EU ones, that's what I've read more than once in several posts

I think the radios are coded to a particular frequency range in the hardware which is different to most other providers.
Here is a very general outline of common frequencies:
Voice and GPRS (EDGE)- 900 and 1800 in most of the world outside NA, 850 and 1900 in NA
3G Data- 2100 in Europe and Asia, 1900 in NA, 1700 for TMo USA
T-Mobile
GSM: 850/900/1800/1900 MHz
WCDMA/HSPA: 1700 MHz (AWS) / 2100 MHz
European
HSPA/WCDMA: 900/2100 MHz
GSM: 850/900/1800/1900 MHz
Not sure if this helps, but 3G and the radios may
be a problem.
I travel internationally a great deal and so I never buy US phones.
I don't care about 3G when in the states. I want it when traveling.
I am with AT&T and their 3G doesn't work overseas.
Thanks for your replies guys! Really appreciate it.
Case closed, TMOUS HD2 not compatible in UK.
Hi guys! Thought I would put this here since I saw from the past few weeks about some people having signal issues with the HTC One.
Unfortunately HTC updated their HTC One page with the new frequency bands list.

To the australian people who preordered their phones from EU. It is indeed official now that 850mhz is not supported.
*Australian on the 850MHz carrier here*
On one hand, I'm glad HTC acknowledged this and I've have been put out of my misery. On the other, I want to do a facepalm at HTC.
I understand how 850MHz testing of the European model could have been deprioritised. And I still believe HTC should be supported for coming out with a great phone at a time of trouble (possibly as many articles on their profit report as phone reviews!), but boy are they making it hard for themselves. They are not a new company. What's different about this phone vs the other internationally available in different variants phones they've released?
I have a quiet chuckle every so often about the saga of getting this phone. Excitement, delay, delay, worry about 850MHz support, dispatch!, oh what it won't work?!?, return, wait for local launch, to be continued...
You wouldn't happen to know what type of NFC it has?
Looked at GSM arena, no where does it go in to any depth on the NFC...
Cheers,

The HTC Unlocked from the US site has the following information:
This HTC One® unlocked version comes with: 32GB of onboard memory and is SIM unlocked.
- HSPA/WCDMA: 850/1900/2100 MHz

From my understanding this works in Europe too, except for the LTE?
Frequencies:
900 / 1800 MHz GSM, GPRS, EDGE
2100 MHz UMTS, HSDPA, HSPA+, DC-HSPA+
900 / 1800 MHz LTE
As I pretty don't much care about 4G/LTE the US unlocked will work otherwise without any problems, right?
Yes you are correct!
Other thank the UK variant not having 850mhz HSDPA frequency all bands from 2g to HSPA should be compatible worldwide.

It has the NXP PN544 chip with its usual level of support it seems. Unlike the S4, it should therefore support Mifare tags without issues.
Hi all,
I've been scouring the web for information that can confirm that any of the Note 4 Exynos variants support the 800 MHz (Band 20) on 4G LTE. From what I've gathered, it seems to be only LTE 850 / 900 / 1800 / 2100 / 2600. Which sucks big time..
The reason is because I have Vodafone 4G in the UK, which runs only on 800 MHz. So, does anyone know of a Note 4 Exynos version (which country?) that supports 800 MHz (Band 20) on 4G LTE?
Appreciate any help!

I think Samsung have purposely screwed us on this
Why the hell not to include the 800 MHz band, it is the most standard of all.
A site I was looking at the other day had the 800 mhz box ticked on 4g. I assume that means it works if that's what we're on about. I'm a noob when it comes to this stuff. The site is eglobalcentral.co.uk if you want to look. Look for the note 4 and click specifications (I'm too much of a scrub to be allowed links ^^. Not sure how accurate that is or if it's what you were after.

You are definitely right about that. They do have it ticked. The question now is, who to trust, eglobalcentral.co.uk or samsung.com? Haha
It could be something that eglobalcentral.co.uk overlooked, I'll email them to double check.
Thanks for the link!
I think N910C support LTE on 800MHz.
I'm wondering about this as well as I have Vodafone 4G.
N910C has been said a lot of times to support 800MHz band
