I was listening to music on my phone and noticed that there is no headset icon in the icon bar on the top of the screen - is this normal?
Yes it is.
Mine doesn't either. I don't think it is supposed to - not with stock Android or any ROM that I'm familiar with.
Maybe you're thinking of the Google Music indicator?
Yeah, I don't think aosp has that.. For sure sense do

I noticed on Desire roms that when a notification goes off while music is playing that the notification plays other the music so the music does not pause. However on Stock/Cyanogen instead that the music is silenced then the notification is played ruining the music experience. Is there anyway to get around this other than putting the phone on silent/vibrate?
ya this is SOO annoying. i get frequent emails and it just is irritating. a workaround would be nice. thanks for posting this.
The notification sound doesn't interrupt music here. I use CM 5.0.3.1.
+1 for this
I use my n1 as primary music player
Also wondering if anyone also interested having the trackball to be able to control music playback while the device panel is off. sliding the trackball will go reverse and sliding forward will fastforward.
Or even just pressing the trackball to change tracks.
I know all of this is possible with the stock headphones that come with the n1 but i dont use them. they are big and ugly imo. lol sorry to get off topic but i think this is kinda on the same wavelength
On stock nexus one, music pauses for notifications when using wired headphones but not when listen through bluetooth headset.

Whenever I use my stock my headphones, the music just seems to mute while the notification plays. I've noticed that most times, if not every time, the song has skipped a few seconds while muted, as if it were still playing while notification was playing. Very annoying.

That would be very cool....controlling the music with the Trackball during the display is off....wow
Only if it doesn't interfere with the Navigation. You do not want the Nav and Music playing together. The Hero does this and you can't hear the Nav Directions. Useless. So, yeah...if it doesn't interfere with the Nav.....it'll be a good idea!

Are you sure your phone isn't on vibrate or silent?
This is only happening with wired headset.
Use Bluetooth one and the notifications wont interrupt the music.

Does it play with the music or not at all?
You're lucky you didn't have a G1.
When plugged into my car, listening to music / podcasts, if a notification came in, the sound would be so freaking loud it would shatter my eardrums.
You'd learn fast to put it on vibrate...
Luckily, the N1 doesn't have the same volume difference problems.

over BT the notification will play WITH the music and not instead of the music.
With a wired headset the notifications will stop the music, please notification and resume music.
Maybe im going crazy but I thought when I plugged in the headphones an icon used to appear in the top bar, this is not happening and starting to wonder if this was just on my old phone
Should the xperia play have a headphone icon appear at the top when they are plugged in?
Nope, you do get an icon for playing music but none for headphones.
I noticed that the lock screen music widget does not always appear whenever I play music on speakerphones / headphones. Sometimes it's there sometimes it's not and I am confused as to why this is happening? Is it because of certain headphones?

have you noticed a pattern? So far it doesn't appear when I'm on loudspeaker and on my headphones. If I'm using my cans it works.

I have this problem also. Except here the widget is permanently gone. I used to have it, and it suddenly it does not show anymore. I have tried rebooting the phone a couple of times with no lock. It just will not show anymore.
Anyone found out something?
I think music widget is really bad and looks out of place it needs a simplified look! I have found a way of hiding it constantly
Close music player from slide down menu what ever you call it slide from top of screen.. Have swipe to unlock (no lock code) / allow multiple widgets / then edit lock screen scroll left and the add music player as a widget then disable mutliple widgets. And it will never show up on main lock screen again
Thats my way of getting rid of it because i don't like the look of it so maybe that helps you in some way lol.
I actually like it a lot. I found it. There is a setting for playing music through the dock when docked (what kind of dock? They're all for iPhone...). If this setting is on, the music widget does not appear, even if it is not docked. Switched this setting off, and the widget came back.

Seems like I was a little quick there... It wasn't that after all. After a while the widget failed to show again. After trying a few things I could get it to show whenever I played without any headphones connected and when I plugged in my headset it did not show. But now it doesn't show at all anymore...
I give up on this. I have no clue to what's going on with this feature...

Uninstall 8tracks , works like a charm
Got my Note3 on VZW last night, and so far i love almost everything about it....except...
I am sitting at work streaming music. I have a set of speakers plugged into the headphone jack.
When i receive an SMS (or any notification), the music pauses like normal. However, right before and after the pause, i hear a "pop" sound, as if i physically unplugged the speakers and plugged them back in. My Gnex that the note replaced definitely did not do this.
I don't believe it made the sound when connected BT in my car.
Is anyone else seeing this behavior? It sounds like a grounding issue.
Same for me

I am using Rhapsody, so there isn't another app option. I dont have any local music on the phone yet, but i will try that at some point.
I stream music through Rhapsody every day. I hope this isn't a hardware issue. Seeing poweramp work better makes me hopeful it is just a software issue.
Hey all, it's been bothering me for quite a while and am just getting around to it now.
When listening to music (on any type of player app), I do not hear my notification sounds. The only thing that happens is that the music still plays, but lowers itself to maybe 20% for a few seconds, then back to normal.
This is the only way I know "something" came in. But with no audio queues, I have no idea from which app.
I believe I never had this issue with my old wired headphones. Unfortunately I no longer have wired headphones to test with.
Has anyone else come across this?
