not getting 4.2 update - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys, I was getting the 4.2 update notification, and saw there are problems installing it if your rooted. So I unrooted. Now I'm not getting the update notification, and every time I go to about device and check it says I'm up to date... How do I get it to show me the update?

I'm rooted and installed the update using CWM. Piece of cake.

OTA update on rooted nexus s 4g--- PLEASE HELP?????

OK so im very confused here... I have Nexus S 4g unlocked/rooted. I have the original Clockwork recovery.
I am running ICS, as soon as it was released OTA and someone made it into a flashable zip file with no mods I flashed it... I gained all my security features back as in being able to use my mobile banking instead of it saying that there was an issue with the security of the phone. I love this version and that I have the benefits of a rooted phone but still get to use everything as a non rooted android...
also I am using the radio and bootloader that was released with the ICS OTA
yesterday (9/13/12) I recieved an OTA update notification to update to 4.1.1 Jelly Bean
I really want the offical OTA version but dont want to unroot the phone.
Is it safe to download this OTA or will it brick my phone?
If it is not safe what are my options to get this stock version w/o mods on my phone?
I really need to do something ASAP as my children get my phone all the time and this notification pops up like every 15 mins and only gives me options to install later, more info, and install now, and I dont want my children to plan on it and end up installing the update and bricking my phone!
Thank you sooo much!
Just flash one of the OTA roms on here for jellybean

Update Notice

I bought my N7 today and the download started for the 4.2.2 update. I denied that and rooted and installed a 4.2.1 rom (clean rom) while I get used to things. Anyway, the update keeps popping up in my status bar that the download is done and I need to update. How can I delete the update and stop the notifications??? Thank you for any help.

OTA Kit Kat Questions

Hello,
The 4.4 OTA has been released for a few weeks now. I have yet to receive it on either my 2012 (WiFi only) or my 2013 4G LTE models. Has anybody here had this problem? Neither tablet is rooted or moded in any way, except I downloaded the new GEL Launcher and the new play store, but still on 4.3 ( and 4.3.1 for the LTE model)
Thanks in advance,
Kyle

Thanks, man. The only problem is I don't own a computer ( I know, right!)...
Is there a way without root to flash the zip?

My wife's 2012 WiFi has not received the OTA yet either. It's only rooted with custom recovery installed.
It received all the other OTA's just fine.
It is SO SLOW! I'm really hoping KitKat breathes some life back into it.
I downloaded the factory image and am planning on wiping it clean in the next day or so. That doesn't really help you though without a computer.
Droid-Life had an article a few weeks back about the update with instructions to install using adb sideload. Then they said "flashing the .zip file through recovery often times works"
I'm guessing that won't help you either since you're not rooted or anything.
Anyway, you're not alone in not receiving the update yet. I'm wondering what the issue is.
Here's the DL article:
http://www.droid-life.com/2013/11/1...krt16o-official-update-for-nexus-7-2012-wifi/
Let me know how that works out. I have been debating doing a factory reset on the device to see if that would push the update to my device. If you have any luck keep me posted.
Thanks.

Hey! I rebooted my Nexus 7 and received the new Kit Kat 4.4 update lol. Now my 2012 Nexus is running super smooth, better than new. Screen transitions are slick. I'm going to play some games and watch a video.
Also, if anyone knows how to change the click, battery, WiFi, Bluetooth, etc. Back to the Google Holli blue instead of white let me know... I liked the holon blue look.

This morning I went into Google Framework Services and cleared data, cache and force stop. Then went to system updates and the OTA came through. I wasn't expecting it to work and was quite surprised.

KitKat 4.4 Destroyed my Nexus 7
I got the OTA update this morning and did it. Now I get no command...called google didn't buy it from the playstore so they sent me to AUSUS they gave me an RMA since I have LOST EVERYTHING and not able to get in. It did have grouper 4.23 before but the recover doesn't work so they say I have to send it in. Does anybody know if there is a way to get this working?
I see others had good results..I am really upset...
:crying:
It is no longer rooted either since the grouper update...VOO DOO didn't work and of course I didn't find out until AFTER I lost root...my developer who I bought the kit from didn't have a connection to update my kit and now I have a new computer lost my files and kit...grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

My Sprint Moto X just got 4.4 KitKat

Not sure how many other people are getting this update. But I just got Android 4.4 KitKat on my Moto X.
Its downloading right now and should be installed in the next few minutes.
Odd Note:
I got another (very small) update before the kitkat update came.
This small update failed, so when I went to go retry it instead of saying the the other update it said that KitKat 4.4 was ready to download. :victory:

And the second one worked no problem? I thought it failed by me because of root, are you rooted?

So, 4.4 failed too. Perhaps because of my bootloader unlock? I'm not rooted.
Anyone have any guides to revert to full stock?
Got the 4.4 update today. Didn't notice a intermediate update though. - stock - locked BL.
The update started last week, and the stock firmware is posted in a thread with instructions

I'm stock and not unlocked. Update came through attempted to install and it says something to the effect of no recovery. Sprint now has my phone to see if they can fix it.

Finally got KitKat here as well. Little disappointed about the dialer lacking nearby searching.

If you tried to take the update while rooted, it will fail and simply reboot you into the version you had before. Before taking an update you need to follow the steps to return to stock
