Hi all,
I'm still undecided about which version to buy.
I already spotted a couple of webstores selling the 64GB version, but those models are said to be without LTE connectivity.
In addition, HTC confirmed that they don't have an estimated launch date for the "64GB LTE enabled" version.
The question is "simple": which version would you buy?
32GB with LTE or 64GB without LTE?
.
I really wanted 64GB, however I recently bought a HOX+ after my HOX and the call clarity with LTE was HUGE. I may wait out with my HOX and buy a 64GB with LTE if it arrives.
64 GB here. I live in an h+ area.

AT&T dosent do calls over LTE, it drops back to 3G to make calls.
Does this also mean that the U.S 64gb version will be without LTE either? I HAVE to have 64, and it would suck to not have LTE just to have the needed storage. :/

I have 16GB HOX and 5GB is still free... Its enough if you have your files in cloud...
How much stuff do you guys store on your phones honestly lol...
I put songs, photos, apps etc on mine and I'm never more than 30% of the space available.

Unfortunately, yes.
Until HTC plans to release the 64GB version with LTE enabled. (If any)
I was debating this same thing. Right now leaning towards 32gb and LTE

Songs take lots of space if you store them on your phone instead of streaming.

I would assume the carrier branded models carry the LTE regardless of whether it is the 32 or 64 GB version, at least in regards to AT&T, Sprint, and T-Mobile here in US

I have 21 gigabytes of MUSIC alone. And id rather not waste my data by storing that all in the cloud since i listen to music at least 3 hours a day. Only got 2 gigabytes of data. :/ Also, I heard that on android your phone is split up so you can only put so much of one type of thing on your phone like maybe 20 is free to media and 2 is for to apps and what not. Don't know for sure but i was reading that off another post somewhere. So sadly, 32 isnt an option when only 26 is usable. I'm hoping that AT&T will have a 64 gigabyte version with LTE. It's 2013, every phone should have LTE REGARDLESS if you have 8, 16, 32, 64, of 128 gigabytes of storage. It should never make a difference.

Lucky you! You can live with that storage space. While me I store 200 songs, 6 PDFs for my programming job, 1 rom zip, 6 psx games namely for fpse namely(FFVII, FFVIII, FFXI, vargant story, digimon 3, army men), need for speed, NOVA 3, GTA Vice city, Final fantasy 3, GTA III, Asphalt 7 and some movies and animes.
More or less total of 40GB+ and sometimes could reach up to 51GB.
I gotta ask where is the OP getting his info?

Well no one seemed to deny it, maybe its just the international version thats like that. I haven't heard anything about the 64gb version not having LTE for U.S carriers so hopefully your right SuperChilpil. I would be hugely disappointed. I'd still get the phone but 2 years without LTE would really suck.
The AT&T LTE version will have 32 and 64 GB SKUs for sure.
A quick look on the specs page from HTC indicates both models will come with LTE - the only caveat is that the available space will be less. Which most of us already know.

Hey There,
Great Post. Seems good to have people already sharing useful information like that.
As a personal request though. Your signature size is a bit unreasonable. Could you please consider resizing or doing something else about it?
Thankyou
I want one if the price difference isn't too bad.
dual sim card sounds interesting, I'd have no need for it though. lol deftone
If it has the same specs as the Note II this will be a dual sim 3G world phone. Are there any other Android dual sim 3G world phones out there?
I wouldn't have a need for one but I guess it could come in handy if i wanted to put a prepaid sim in it.

Maybe, look on Google for ROMs for a regular device with a dual-sim variant. For example, the Galaxy Pocket and the Pocket Duos. They have the same specs just like the Note 2 and the Note 2 Duos do so look to see if anybody has flashed a Pocket ROM on their Pocket Duos. If they did, then I guess it would work.I think you can probably find it in a couple of days. Or you could order from China Mobile, the carrier with the device, and have it ship to you.

Dual SIM Note 2 would be awesome for a backpacking holiday. Local SIM as primary, with home SIM as secondary with its super expensive roaming charges. Each time you change country just swap out the primary.
I wasn't sure about Note 2 vs Note 1 but with 64GB internal, 64GB SD, dual SIM and Seidio case with kick stand and holster it will be an iresistable killer combo
Adding decent GPS App with locally stored maps and an external range boosting antenna would make it the ultimate travel phone

does anyone know what dual sim entails? can you have 1 sim for mobile broadband (with telco provider a) and 1 sim for minutes, SMS (with a separate telco provider b)?
both reading at the same time. the note 2 knows which one to use and when? so you don't clock up data on the wrong sim, and calls and SMS on the other?
thanks
The "classical" Samsung DuoS phones (at least mine and others I had in hand) let you choose a primary card that is used for everything by default and a special button that allows you to choose the secondary SIM card before making a call or sending sms. Web connection and other services always run from the primary card. Changing the assignment of the primary card causes a reboot.
Both networks are actively receiving calls/sms.
How this one is (or would be) done is hard to tell, not many people had it in hand (if it really exists). Unfortunately, probably not many people ever will.
Personally, I need two networks, so I carry a "phablet" without SIM plus classical DualSIM phone. DuoS Note would be cool.

No, i don't think so.
so year 2012 and they can't even do what seems to be simple. one uses data, other using everything else. option in an app lets you choose what what simcard does? zzzz
Well now that they have been announced I have a questions are there any differences between them ? Will they both get the same Dev support ? I made the mistake of buying the galaxy 2 from tmobile and worse decision I ever did had to get rid of it and buy a gnex since the support for the galaxy s2 was the worst and always behind..... Since I have tmobile might ass well use one of my upgrades and save some money on the lg4 just making sure I won't be stuck getting late updates or have luck of support like some people with the Verizon galaxy nexus are having but I understand why since they are using lte which changes the phone around......
thanks for all the help in advanced

NO! Pay $150 more to not have to worry about a contract, PLUS pay less with a Value or Pre-Paid Tmo plan.
It is too soon to tell if there will be a software difference. Anyone who says differently needs to provide a link showing proof.
The hardware will be the same.
Actually, it seems that the T-Mobile version will have 42mbps HSPA+, while the version in the google play store only goes up to 21mbps HSPA+.
Other than that, I would assume they would be identical.

H+ is not edge it isn't 4G as the blackberry bold doesnt support it. All the Nexus 4's are the same international or not. If you can get '4G' in your area the nexus 4 will get it. Id recommend ringing up t-mobile and asking.
The Google Play version is the EXACT same version that T-Mobile will sell.
You can check at the store to see if there is 4G or online at there website with there map.
Mind you 42Mbps is theoretical so don't expect to see anything close to that. Because a lot of different factors come into play no matter what phone you are using.
But to answer your question: Yes it will get high speed.

I'd play around with them. The advantage of the store one is that it will be cheaper in the long run to buy it and get a prepaid contract the $199 model comes with a new 2 year contract. I don't like the galaxy nexus because it has an awful screen. But your best bet is going in a shop and asking to look at demo models. Play with them.

The T-Mobile version is far from a sensible option for those ultimately looking for the least expensive device overall. Granted, that may be valid if someone already has intentions of signing a 2 year agreement with T-Mobile, otherwise, even with T-Mobiles somewhat competitive monthly plans, by the end of 2 years ,you'll certainly fork over more than $150: the additional upfront cost it would take to purchase a unlocked 16GB Nexus 4.
Not to mention T-Mobile doesn't offer a 8GB variant, which is more than adequate for me & surprisingly many others I'm sure.

What are your guys views on whether or not Google will cave in and release a LTE or 32gb variant of the LG nexus 4? share your thoughts.
I just don't see it happening....really doubt it!
Highly unlikely.
4G is useless with my country ( Vietnam )
i think the 32gb variant is a much bigger possibility. they did that with the nexus 7... why not the lg nexus 4?
well with the issue of LTE, very unlikely. but im kind of on the fence with the 32gb idea. true, they did release a 32gb version of the nexus 7 after getting rid of the 8gb variant, but in the case of the galaxy nexus, the never release a 32gb version. i know the nexus 7 is more recent, so google might go about the nexus 4 like they did the nexus 7 (releasing a 32gb version later), but the case of the galaxy nexus, in my opinion, is more closely in-tune with the nexus 4 (as they are both phones). honestly i just dont know and its killing me cos i really want this phone! the lack of memory is the only thing stopping me from buying this on release day

LTE and more memory can be done if LG are pushed hard enough for it. It maybe in the pipeline already, take samsung for example when they enhanced the nexus s with a 4g version.

32GB? Very possible.
LTE? When hell freezes over and pigs fly.
32GB? Maybe, although they didn't do it for the GSM Galaxy Nexus, so I wouldn't bet on it.
LTE? No chance.
There will be a 32GB Nexus.
There will also be a 64GB and 128GB Nexus (128GB memory chips are already in production)
The Nexus will have LTE
However, it will most probably be called the Nexus 5
They did that to the Nexus 7.Its a possibility but i don't think there would be LTE.
Let's hope And LTE is too expensive or not available for most countries anyway :good:
For more memory u can just a OTG available for a couple of dollars on amazon, ebay and use STICKMOUNT. Memory no issue
LTE only popular in US and only if u use AT & T else no use...
The price will increase by fifty dollars if memory is increases and another 100$ if LTE is included, which would take the cost to 500$, which wont be soo attractive as the 349$ tag
No LTE
If you want LTE you're going to wait for the LG Optimus G.
The phone is a world phone and will be very popular overseas where most countries don't have/don't care about LTE. I doubt we'd see them go through the hassle as that would require a different soc to include the LTE modem

Considering Sprint eventually got the two Samsung Nexus devices, I wouldn't be surprised if someday they get an LTE Nexus 4. And considering the CDMA Galaxy Nexus models were 32GB, there's a good chance said Sprint Nexus would also be 32gb. Dont expect it for quite a while after launch though.

The Verizon one seems good so far just hope we can get some development for it.

Because Amazon website has misinformation.
Well, I bit the bullet and just picked mine up. Haven't done anything to it yet but plug it in. Battery was at 15% so I need to let it charge first. Hate saying goodbye to root though....

The Amazon or global one is GSM network Verizon and Sprint use CDMA networks . So the info on their site is correct.

I've been looking for complete specs... will any of the unlocked versions of this phone work on Verizon?

From my testing, the unlocked version will pick up Verizon LTE bands but calls fail since there is no VoLTE option on the phone. Did not pick up any of their 3G signals, and their system would not accept my IMEI as a compatible device. So it may work if you can convince Verizon to add the phone to their system, which is unlikely since they already have their own version.
FWIW I also tried it with a Sprint SIM, but got no service whatsoever and their system would not accept the IMEI. Thew in a Cricket/AT&T SIM and the phone worked as expected.

I miss the high score I've built up in Klondike for the last 7 years and I miss all the notes I had in my Memo app and I definitely miss having Kernel options, because I'm not impressed with battery life at this point, but yeah, it's a beast. The screen is amazing. Like nothing I've ever seen before. The camera lives up to advertised and it's super fast.

Which LTE Bands are you getting?
I'm on T-Mobile,seems we only have Band 2 support on the WW unlocked 8GB/128 GB Model.
I've already initiated a return w/the e-Bay seller,more than likely,it's going back tomorrow.
I'd been OK with Bands 2 & 4,which are listed here:

The fact that they let this .pdf out & it's not even accurate speaks volumes for North American support:Tone-Deaf would be a compliment...............

I was able to get service on 4 and 13 for Verizon, and 2 and 12 for Cricket/AT&T. It may support more, but I'm not aware of any apps that will let me scan for service on all bands. LTE Discovery mentioned a "Potential eCSFB issue" with the Verizon SIM which is likely because there was no CDMA support.
Fun fact... apparently the phone supports XLTE with Verizon, which led to a rather depressing speed test compared to my service with Cricket.

THX!,just wanted to make sure we were talking about the same model phone.
I'm gonna give it one more day,get around town & see if the connectivity is OK.
If spotty (w/Band 2 only) ,I'm sending it back,or,selling it on Swappa.
Outside of sparse LTE Band support,it's a nice phone,I really don't wanna part w/it so soon after getting it.
Haven't tried out the AR/VR Capabilities yet, but,I do like the display & the speaker quality/loudness.
TBH,I'm covered in WI-FI Most of the time, but,I did expect better LTE Band support nevertheless, especially for a DualSIM/Unlocked phone.
The fact that it's being sold on Amazon as-is seems to be Asus shooting themselves in the foot, certainly there'll be quite a few returns, once people find out connectivity is less than ideal for an unlocked phone, one that is marketed to the US/North America.
Update on mine, battery life is getting better now as the phone settles in. NOT impressed with Data though. I was in the country yesterday, my ASUS Zenpad had 2 bars of 4G and the Zenfone was in roam. Everything else is great, and living without root is bearable, I guess. Fortunately, my 7 year high score on Klondike is an X-Box Live/Google Play game and the score were carried over from the X Box cloud. I know that sounds silly but 7 years over multiple devices is a long time to build up a high score and was a major stress point going to a locked down device
