Re: [ROM] ALL Roms for HUAWEI X5 - U8800
Wow thanks for giving us such a great list....please make this as sticky thread!
It's a lot easier for noob like me to find Rom for my X5 now
Maybe you can add some pros or conts about each rom (what work and won't) but you'll deal with some devs that won't their great work being exposed that way...So write the problems / bugs based on what had been written by the devs themselves....
Nice thread btw

Re: [ROM] ALL Roms for HUAWEI X5 - U8800
Really good, all in one collection but many of them are not stable, too slow on booting, cant boot, error or force close apps when using, adb driver doesnt work...etc... but this makes us easy to find some roms which "are-at-the-bottom". Ok i will bookmark this topic

Re: [ROM] ALL Roms for HUAWEI X5 - U8800
Hi Lemonade do you still use miui as your daily rom? What is it? Please really need your review about it.... thanks
Sent from my u8800 using xda app-developers app

rukadesigns you are the best. This thread should be Sticky.

Nice. Is it possible to add some sort of a poll: Which rom you are actually using, and the one you would like to use if only ...

kernels
great work around here...
i think to become perfect should be addeded some links to kernel pages like ffranco's kernel and others... they spend too much time to be forgotten...

thanks man good job man
forum runner

very good job thanks

Hello, first of all thanks for your feedback, I'll improve the list, but ill try to keep as a simple and clear index page of all roms. maybe ill add kernels/cwm in next days. please report any missing rom

I think its missing the first official GB (B517)...

first official is not beta 1? xD huawei is a bit tricky with their updates

MoKee OS
Hello, nice list. But I think you forgot the official MoKee OS. It's based on CM 7.2 (GB) and running quite stable, complete and beautifully (but from Chinese developers). You can downlaod it here HUAWEI U8800 v1.10.436, or use my MediaFire link update-mokeeos-v1.10.436-u8800-release.zip.
Question about Oxygen for u8800: you filed in under Gingerbread ROMs, but doesn't it have a .32 kernel like Froyo has?

Yes, OEX is a .32 kernel rom, like all roms with Franco kernel, you need to downlograde to 2.2 in order to flash this rom

Honeycomb 3.0 SDK port
*Warning this is not recommended for new people new to custom roms and what not. It's a proof of concept so take that into account of you decide to try it*
The well known tablet version of Android ported to the Nexus S. Since it is in Alpha 2 and because Google hasn't released the HoneyComb source yet many things are not working. This still won't stop many of us from trying it out and playing with Honeycomb!
New Addition Coming Soon
I removed ROM Updates section for two reasons. First, with all the ROMs available and the little time I have on my hands (newborn baby, job, and college) it has gotten nearly impossible to catch up and since I don't want it to have something that is always outdated I decided to remove it. Second, all the ROMs have changelogs in their threads, so why go through all the work to duplicate it? Its just a click away
Kernels
Netarchy - Have nearly every addition you could think of. Extremely popular and constantly updated.
Ogdobber's ☆Jame Bond☆ Kernel -Another popular kernel with many different flavors available for use
Trinity 1.44GHz/1.2GHz V2- A OCd kernel with things such as TUN and CIFS.
Trinity UV V2 -While it retains stock speeds, the big difference is this is Undervolted in order to save even more battery life.
Morfic's Honity12 and Honity14 -Morfics kernel are known for their speed and stability. Include the regular features plus a little more right out of the box.
Matr1x -As of now this kernel is based off AOSP code with additions such as Voodoo, BLN, Smartass governor, and support for the Proton Voltage App. Supports CM7, Stock ROMs, and all other ROMs.

1 remark , In your description you say that Du5st3r 's rom is built of AOSP , I think that is not correct .. As far as I can see it is a deodexed and zipaligned stock rom , like nexusbreed

Nice initiative! Thanks! A bit hard to read though; between the big pictures and the small font size ROM titles (well same as the description font size). Maybe some formatting is in order?

Hmm so something like smaller pictures with bigger ROM font titles?
Maybe just bigger ROM titles that stand out would do the trick.
I would love to see a Sprint CDMA compatible ROM listings

[Q] CM 7 and MIUI (official vs unofficial) + Flash Question

Hello all,
I'm posting this thread because I'm getting a little confused after all this reading. Basically, I just need some confirmations.
Lately I've been reading a lot on CM7 and CM9 but now I'm also starting to get interested in MIUI.
I've come across:
WIUI
MIUI Pikachu edition
MIUIandroid.com
Motorola Defy MIUI.us
I underlined my 4 questions for your convenience.
So I have some Questions on Custom ROMS
As you can see, I've looked for an official MIUI build for the Defy but I can't seem to find an official MIUI build. These listed above are all 'edited' by someone.
Could someone explain what i'm (probably) overlooking? Is there an official MIUI?
At the moment WIUI and Pikachu edition look very nice.
I currently have a Bayer (aka red lense) Defy (MB525)
stock android 2.2.2 on 2.6.32.9 kernel.
Systemversion: Version.34.164.3.MB525.Retail.en.FR.
Build number: 3.4.2-164
Which means I have a Froyo/Defy/'CM7' Kernel
CM7 and MIUI(GB) are all meant to be flashed on this Froyo/Defy/CM7 kernel, am I correct?
I find the '(GB)' with MIUI rather confusing, it's android 2.3.x but it's running Froyo kernel/Defy/CM7 kernel and not a GB/Defy+/CM9 kernel.
Now, the flashing
If I decide to flash a custom ROM: CM7.2 or a version of (GB) MIUI:
Can I just flash MIUI or CM7.2 RC1 on my current build or do I need to flash CEE or Nordic 2.2.2 first? I prefer not to lose my downgradeability.
I assume a flash from my current build to CEE or Nordic via RSDlite will result in an efuse so I can't flash my full 34.164.3.MB525.Retail.en.FR SBF anymore, or am I mistaken?
I currently have a full SBF of my original stock ROM, just in case.
Kind Regards, Config.

Hello all,
I'm posting this thread because I'm getting a little confused after all this reading.

I have a Defy with bayer camera module, all I did for installing custom roms was root, install 2nd init, reboot to boot loader and wipe all data/cache (this is the first step in any of the mentioned ROMs, but please read the respective step-by-step tutorials in case I missed something), and then flashed the desired CM or CM-based (like MIUI) rom
The defy versions all basically run over froyo kernel, as it's the last official kernel released for the device (GB kernels are either leaked or belong to the defy+) , I never flashed a newer one and have tested quite a few MIUI and CM versions, including:
MIUI.us (oficial US MIUI adaptation team)
MIUIandroid.com (British team)
WIUI (Wajk's multilanguage version, and also has an ICS test version, that I also tried)
CM7.1 and Epsylon3's CM9 for Defy (in beta, but more stable than WIUI's ICS for Defy)
I don't actually know if flashing a newer kernel would be any use for these roms, I know defy and defy+ (different kernels) roms are not interchangeable, so I wouln't bother with it unless you are flashing a full sbf rom (in which case I have no experience with)

Thanks,
If I may ask, What ROM would you personally recommend?
Does anyone know the answer on my 2 last questions?

From the ones I've used for a while, I suggest the official MIUI (gingerbread) if you wan't to be safe and CM9 if you want some ICS sweetness and feel good about dealing with the perks of a beta release. Once we finally have an official (or at least a stable/less buggy alternative) version of ICS MIUI for defy, I'd go with that, definitely

With official MIUI, do you mean the US version or the British?
For what i know, official miui is from chinese site miui.com. All others have some modification. More o less, all of them came frome miui's official releases. In my case, wiui is the most stable i been using since long time ago. I'm waiting for stable ics miui too cause there aren't an official rom from miui.com for defy. And the reason for that is because cm9 it's still in beta, and miui is based on cm project. All v4 around for defy are just port from others device's roms and have a lot of bugs, especially mobile data. As we know, motorola made our defy whit a locked bootloader whit froyo kernel in it. For that reason is more easy make a rom froyo kernel based. But isn't the unique option. there's a rom maded by walter 79 whit gb kernel that have excellent results, especially In battery life. Cm9 whit gb kernel too.
One more thing: miui (not v4) and cm7, are both android 2.3.x

The really official one is the chinese, the others are, as ldiomedi said, translation/adaptation teams. Some apps may be added or removed, but usually nothing you would notice. I settled using the british version because the phone numbers where formatted the same way as in Brasil ((xx)xxxx xxxx) and the brazillian team was lagging behind updates. WIUI gathers language options, but I don't know about other adaptations.
So if I'm correct:
If I would like to use MIUIandroid I have to get the newest build here, the MIUI.US over here and WIUI just at the forums.
My SD card is getting a bit small, it's only 2gig.
So before leaving my stock ROM I would like to switch it.
Are there any extra steps I should do because of the SD-card switching?
You don't need to keep the rom in the sd after installing it, use each one a bit to see which you like better. Install the definite one and then delete the roms from the sd card, you can always redownload if you want to change again latter.
I know I don't have to keep those files on my SD-card.
It's just that 2gb is getting too small to store some photos and files.
I would go for the GB WIUI rom as it has both nl and fr translations. I tried it in the past and the translations were good. It is also optimized for the defy. The others handle many different devices.

List of ALL ROMS & KERNELS[JB+ICS+GB].Updated last 24/7/2012

I've made a list of all JB,ICS and GB ROMS & KERNELS for the I9000 out here .
I know you may find a couple of threads like this. But the main difference is this thread contains all the three versions of android.
I will update the thread on a daily basis(almost daily) and i would like to add a few info about every rom .
It will help you to you choose an JB ,ICS or GB Rom or Kernel.
Since there are a lot a roms coming up daily based on CM9/AOKP and other people are just adding applications/MODS and re-ziping the rom which are of no use so i will add only those rom which have significant changes in it.
I will try to add ROMs from other sources also if they are worthy enough.

Aurora by far...
Hi, i tested a few Custom Roms for the U 8800. The best ones are Aurora and Elora (stable, long batterie life, lag free)
Aurora is a clean ICS build from sources and includes a very little amount of non-stock tweaks or anything else.
Elora is also a great choice but I hate this TouchWiz-ui.
So you just must to choose between Aurora that must be tweaked on your own and Elora that must also be tweaked or even re-tweaked on your own. Both of them are pretty stable (not the new v.5 Aurora — it's experimental ver.)
Sorry for my bad Eng.
ics i mean
aurora is one of the best rom for x5 so far.
Aurora ICS
I believe Aurora ICS to be the best, even the V5 version is pretty good. I've been testing ever since it was available for download & I have yet to find any real issues with it.
I have also tried Elora, MIUI, & they're also not too bad.
Might I suggest you consider Mokee OS. It's not ICS based from what I can tell but it is an excellent rom packed with features & very quick.
Just a thought.......
Aurora is very fast and smooth and the difference from MIUI is noticable.
But if you get used to MIUI interface you won't ever want another rom
Also, Aurora for those who like to use MMS and don't have data plan is a bad choice as you must have data connectes in order to send/receive MMS. In MIUI you don't.
Aurora photos and video are way worst than MIUI V4.
Overall 2 good rooms and if MIUI V4 was fast and smooth like Aurora would be a perfect rom!
