[Q] What kernels here support USB Host Mode Power Management? - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Example: http://mehrvarz.github.com/usb-host-mode-power-management-nexus7/
Ideally it would work with MultiRom and 4.2.x as well.

AW: [Q] What kernels here support USB Host Mode Power Management?
faux123 does, and the fauxclock app has a toggle to Force OTG charging (but you can also just write into a /sys file).

any others than faux?
Franco? Motley? M-Kernel? Lean Kernel? Trinity?
I saw Timur's, but can't understand why it wouldn't be in others, and do not know what ROM's Timur is even compatible with???
I would love for somebody to respond truthfully that it is included by default in all of the above :cyclops:

[Q] Nexus 7 + OTG + Charging {ROMs and Kernels} and instructions.

Hi Everyone.
So so far there is this :
http://mehrvarz.github.com/otg-power-nexus7.html
A modded kernel that works with CM10.
What i would love to see in this thread is what other ROMs and Kernels support OTG and CHarging at the same time and maybe even with fixed charging status (im using now CM10 with that mod and all is good and the tablet IS charging even though it does say that it is NOT charging.)
Im a big fan of CM but i'd love to try some other roms as well... maybe a stock rom with modded kernel ...
So again.. what im asking is if anyone knows what other roms and kernels supporting the feature and how to install all that , please post it here.
Thank you !
Bump
ElementalX kernel sometimes works on 2012 Nexus7
I'm interested in OTG as well. I'm a little confused as to whether the ElementalX kernel supports Nexus 7 2012. It seems to work intermittently for me, which is frustrating.

[Q] Kernel, multiboot, usb otg

Hello,
I'm a noob to all of this, currently running CM7.2 nightly on a green lens MB525.
I have tried to boot cm9 and 10 using multiboot, but failed. I assume this has something to do with the kernel?
I thought a custom kernel was not possible but has this really changed? I'd like to try some of the more experimental
roms, but especially, I'd like to enable USB OTG, which the omap chip should have. A robotics project
of mine could benefit from this greatly.
Is any of this really even possible, There are lots of documentation, but either it's out of date, or I'm just confused.
Thanks,

Hey,
custom kernels are possible, but at this time not in CM7.
Try the JellyX kernel for OTG.
Looks like what I'd like to use. Just to make sure: I don't think the kernel can be loaded from the sd card?
I have never been able to boot any of the new roms which I assume require a new kernel to run from the sd-card using multiboot 0.8. The only roms I have successfully run from sd are 7.2 and older. using 2nd system, i think 2nd init uses the internal storage?
I'm a little careful not to install a new kernel in my main system in case I'll brick it.

Not quite. I have no experience with OTG. I assumed (after the appropriate kernel modules were loaded) it only needed to be powered externally to make it act as a host, but apparently that might not be the case and an OTG cable needs to be purchased. But apparently it should work. Software wise I'll be using libusb which apparently is ported. Would like to hear if anyone has some experience with defy + otg.

OTG kernels?

Hi all.
My n4 is now bursting at the seams with ROMs. I desperately need to move them to my usb disk. I used to do this using ziddey/franko OTG kernel.I have now got used to using much faster, non otg kernels like trinity & matrix, unfortunately these at time of writing dont offer otg and i am no way capable of creating my own.
Anyine know of any other fast otg kernels?
I would just keep swapping between ziddey and other kernels but from what i understand franko one does something funky to the ram disk which would have a negative affect when other kernel is flashed back over the top.
Please help a noob : )
Thanks guys : )
Matr1x kernel now has OTG support. Head over to the Original Development you should see it. It's developed by Mathkid

Thanks, I'm a massive fan of matr1x and its what I'm holding out for re otg.
Otg not currently working in latest kernel. I know math kid is working on it as we've spoken about it.
Tbh is the kernel I want to continue using so wish math kid all the luck : )

[Q] 4.3 OTG/USB Host Mode + (Fast) charging?

Is there a JB 4.3 based ROM/kernel combination that supports USB host mode while simultaneously fast charging at >500mA?
My head is spinning from trying to figure it out from reading all the ROM/kernel dev threads.
I tried M-kernel a61 but it's one or the other not both.

Not based on JB 4.3...And he has stated he will not do anymore development on it.
I am looking for this too, I am quite tempted to go back to 4.2.2 for this.

[Q] How do I turn on deep sleep?

I am currently using a Paranoid Android on 4.1.2 and have timur's kernel 1-29 flashed. Because of this I have otg charging and USB DAC working, but i was wondering how do I enable the firm sleep/deep sleep like in the Timur's usb rom or Autodroid. I want to install powereventmgr on 4..1.2 but its not compatible. the reason I'm on 4.1.2 ie because of wiimote support.
Can anyone port it to 4.1.2?
