I knew how to do this at one point, but my bookmarks went missing and my brain has had a hiccup. Does anyone know the key to change your device model/etc in the registry? I have a samsung focus, and have nokia music installed, but must change my device to a lumia to actually use the app. Any ideas?

Hi,
I was wondering, can I put a code on my contacts and my messages?
I just dont like it when people are playing with my phone, how easy it is for them through my contacts and messages.
Never had this problem with previous phones (well it isn't a REAL problem, just a hindrance), cause there you had to go through at least 2 or 3 clicks to see them.
Anyone know any software I can install for this? Or how I can enable it?
Im running the stock rom btw, should it matter...
Put the main pin code in Settings & Lock or...
...don't give other people your phone!
I've never heard of something which locks just the items you mention, sort of goes against the point of an easy to use, easy to access phone UI.
I think I saw a Samsung phone which had it, everything was open on the phone, just the text messages required a pin. I saw it and loved it.
And its mainly now that I have a new phone that everyone wants to see it and use it, and I don't want to be prick and say no =)
As for a main PIN, I do have that.
what you got to hide!?
yes samsungs (well at least use to) enable you to set codes for individual programs. eg texts, pictures, videos etc etc. not seen another phone that does that though. tbh its good with have a lock code at all as alot of phones dont even have that!
best thing to do is turn touch flow off so its just the windows today screen, then they have to scroll trough your programs etc to get to contacts/msgs
Hi all,
First, I am new to this Android thing and I don't know where else to post a such question.
But anyway, now on to my question.
I understand that rooting my device may brake the warenty, but if there is some other solution to the below problem, that would be great!
I am visually impaired and therefor me and others who are in the same situation rely on screen reading software, such as Spiel and Talkback that already exists in the market and they can be activated in the accessibility preferences of the phone after they have been installed.
In order for them to work, some text-to-speech engine has to be installed and the voice data for that as well, like Espeak.
The phones we have to use are the ones with physical qwerty keyboards and the ones that have physical arrow keys or a trackball. But now to my question.
Each time I have to do a factory reset of my Samsung Galaxy 5510 I must get someone sighted help me set up my Google account and then I can login to the market and install Spiel/Talkback and with some assistance enable the accessibility preferences.
This is really anoying. SO my question is, would it be possible to integrate these programs into some rom or maybe backup the phone so that I can restore it from a PC or maybe with some application that can be launched from the phone and then I select the image file, like a backup program and then all my settings are back.
I really apologize if this is the wrong forum, but any help is really apreciated since I know that several others are facing the same problem.
What do you think?
Could this be something to look at?
may I ask why you are doing a factory reset so often?
or do you just mean you upgrade to a new rom?
anyway, it should be really easy to have these apps installed by default in any rom. I doubt they would work in the setup procedure but you could skip the setup and then add your accounts later, when the text to speech apps are running.
No, I am not upgrading the ROM and I am not doing a hard reset that often, BUT, if i would have to do that it would be great if the screen reader service, such as Spiel could be launched by default and I don't know if this phone can be upgraded.
Hi, I've already posted this question in Q&A section, maybe it's a programming question...
I am looking for a way to modify hard key behavior to launch apps I chose. I have a USB keyboard connected, some keys are already mapped to Music, Video, Camera etc. I would like to be able to launch my own applications of my choice. It's not a phone, it's an Android run mediaplayer.
I have sort of solved this issue by running an .sh script from command line which gets keyboard events using getevent utility and then launches apps using am start command, but this method is slow! It takes 2-5 seconds to launch an app like that, whereas "soft-wired" hard keys work instantly.
Does anyone know which part of Android OS is responsible for this setting? There's gotta be a settings file or something. I can change hard key behavior by changing /system/usr/keylayout/*.kl files, but I cannot change the apps they launch. Only default audio player, camera, etc etc. I know it's not the launcher, because I can switch around launchers, but hard keys are the same.
Please! Someone's gotta know how it works? Is it compiled into the linux core?
I want to disable the stupid Windows feedback app, which is always popping up when I press the <on/off> and <down volume> keys by accident.
Any suggestions?
As far as I know, that's not possible

Thanks Teddy. I think I am going to have to find a way to root the phone. There's lots about it I like (e.g. the update to the camera app that means I now have a panorama option that actually works quite well), and lots about it I don't like (e.g. the fact that it seems not to be able learn the words I use regularly - every time I type "for" it insists on telling me I really meant to type "fir"; and the bluetooth is pretty bad - I can't connect to my Bose SL III reliably, but my ancient Samsung Galaxy II has no problems).

Well, there are some tools available to root the phone. The way I can see that might work is to completely remove Win Feedback from the phone by accessing the OS FileSystem and deleting app's files.
You can very easily gain access to the filesystem: Create a shortcut to your C: drive on pc and upload it on the phone, from here open it with File Explorer and you're on the root of the device (this actually works ). From there try to find the Win Feedback app and delete its files. Be careful as doing something wrong, you might need to reset the device.

Hmmm ... tried that but I must have stuffed it up. All I get on the phone is a link to the shortcut on my PC. I'll try emailing the shortcut to myself on my phone, then save it from there. Will let you know what happens.
LATER: Nope, that didn't work.
I have the answer !!!

Hello,
I don't know if I am at the right topic for this but,
Would somemone have any idea to unlock this device? EL-1561AIO-T
A friend of mine found it on the Dirt heap (or how you say in english)
But the only software that is on it is like for promotional ends just for 1 product. You can use touchscreen just for scrolling between products of tomtom that are for sell and that's it.
But if I look it up in the internet I see there must be a possibility to run some kind of android system running on this device. I think this is the device.
https://nl.aliexpress.com/store/product/15-6-inch-android-smart-tv-tablet-pc-kiosk-all-in-one-display-10-point-touch/414435_32586106266.html
But it is locked with "surelock" if we tap 10 times the screen it says to enter a pincode but nothing works.
Would there be a way to use this thing usefull and maybe set some android system on it for minimal use like for pictures or watching movies or something like that. I have seen there is also an sd card slot maybe this way?
