When I want to change the GPRS Authentication method I do this:
Start - Settings - Connections - Advanced Network - GPRS (Or smthg like that, I have it in Spanish). In here I can change from default PAP to CHAP.
How can I do this through a registry key? I need to create a cab that does this amongst other things.

Just installed the xda-developrs SE ROM
Seems to make the XDA run like a deamon, well impressed so far.
Just as everybody else though. The autoconfiguration doesn't work. So can't get the o2 wap settings up.
dns 193.113.200.200
and 193.113.200.201

but something seems to be missing. Could somebody please supply the complete settings.
WAP...
Ehm, as far as WAP goes...
We did not include the EZWAP program in our install. So WAP is unlikely to work. WAP wasn't in Othman's Qtek ROM (it has no autoconfig settings and no WAP), and we didn't create mkrom to take input from multiple ROMs. We figured serious users would want to the new EZWAP which also does MMS (which isn't included by O2), and we never really used WAP or MMS ourselves. So I guess we never tested any WAP settings...
If you want you can have a look at the registry settings we insert for each provider in the 'provider' directory of the mkrom kit. If you think some settings are missing, you could do a registry dump (using the 'System Snapshot' we put in the ROM) before and after fixing the problem, and send us the differences. We can them insert them in next versions of the Special Edition ROM.

Hi,
Thanks for the above info. It worked a treat. However I was asked for a Username, Password and Domain login when I connected to GPRS. So for those of you who do know it, here we go:
Username: web
Password: password
Domain: leave this blank.
Check the box to save the password.

thanks, i will add it to my txt file
missed those
I am on O2 payg, using the xda, I have tried the gprs settings and it says the number isnt responding, when I use the gsm settings that are preset when doing auto config, I get charged even though I am on 300 free wap minutes, I dont think I am a stupid person but I have a feeling of having been here before when I previously had an O2 payg, any help would be appreciated. I am getting the free sms messages so I know the account is activated for the freebies. The "G" sysmbol comes on when i switch on the xda and stays there for about 10 seconds.
Hi. I'm new here so excuse me if I seem simple! I have unlocked my XDA using xdaunlock and now have same problem with GPRS dropping out after approx 10 seconds. It worked before, so has unlocking changed any settings? or has something else happened. The xda has the latest uk rom upgrade with 4.21 radio. Any help please as I dont know what to do! Thanks.
Please has anybody actually got a working setup for GPRS on O2 PAYG on the XDA, I have spent weeks on this and got nowhere. I have followed instructions to the letter from different websites and still no joy, I can connect to wap over gsm but gprs settings still elude me, anybody got a full description of settings please, and how to enter them. Thanks in advance.
Is there nobody on this forum using O2 PAYG sim and using wap over gprs? I cannot seem to find anybody with the settings, I wonder why, it seems like the holy grail just to get on line using the system that is available to me in theory? Help would be greatly appreciated.
Nobody in UK on O2 pay as you go :?: :?: :?:
Update on my problems with GPRS on O2 payg. I have tried every setting on this forum plus others, I always get error, not answering or some such, I have decided to stick to gsm connection using shortcode 951000 and exwap 2.5. if anybody can give me step by step, confirmed working settings, I would apprectiate it. This will be my last post on the subject, I am beginning to take up too much storage on the forum server with this. A resolution to the problem would be great as I can then save my connection settings to flash ram and not worry about it again.
cruisin-thru I am not on O2 so can offer limited help.
EzWAP2.5 could be yr problem.
I sometime find difficulty using WAP after a session mms'ing with EzWAP2.5 . A solf reset is then required before I can connect to WAP via gprs.
Here is my sugestion:
1.uninstall EzWAP2.5 completely
2.try to get connected to gprs or gsm WAP
3.try PIE, it works for WAP , but depending on yr
telco whether on gprs or gsm
4.if all the above is working then install EzWAP2.1
and see if it works
5.then EzWAP2.5 and see if it screw up everthing,
if not try mms.
Hope this helps, i am working blind here
OK, searched high and low and think this is the best thread to post this in.
Have just upgraded my XDA with the developers rom v1.2. Everything great for a while (3 days) Now it can not connect to gprs or gsm. I get the "There is no answer at the number dialed.
I am with O2 UK and have treble checked the settings and tried various alternatives however nothing works.
One thing I have noticed is that the autoconfig dropdown box says Austria One.....when I change that to O2 - UK and click OK to autoconfigure, it doesn't, it just comes back to Austria - One.
Phone works and SMS is fine, just GPRS/GSM
Do I need to re-flash or contact my provider....or please tell me there's a simple "fix" :lol:
Thanks
Ive got this reply through email from o2 im waiting now for password and username I will post soon as I get it
Go to Start > Settings > Connections > Connections, and then select the top modify option. Within this, there should be four connection types.... Select the GPRS WAP connection and modify the settings. You need to change anything that says o2wap to payandgo, and change the APN from WAP.o2.CO.UK to PAYANDGO.O2.CO.UK. Once you have amended these settings, tap and hold on this connection type and make it your default. You might want to rename this
Then, go into the EZwap application, and select tools and then options, and there should be a series of tabs. Select the general tab and make sure the connection in the drop down list, is the one you have just amended.

although this number may not be free when used with O2 online
Hi, make sure first that it's your GPRS WAP connection that Ezwap is using, and set it to 'auto connect' in 'Options'
under the 'connection' tab set connection type to 'gateway' and put in your networks WAP IP address (o2 IRL's is 192.168.090.074). Click on 'connectionless gateway'
Untick 'wtls' secured connection.
Click on the 'MMS' settings tab next.
Put in your networks MMS 'Message Server' or MMS homepage. (O2 IRL's is http://mmsc.mms.o2.ie:8002)
All the other settings can be setup as you like.
1) Enable MMS on my account. Had to get 'pally' with a tech guy to do this as XDA is not supported; I suppose pretending I had a 7650 would have worked too.
2) Install EZWAP2.5
3) EZWAP Settings for O2UK:
General
"Connection"
- O2 WAP GPRS
- Connect automatically Y
- Rest on this tab default
Connection
"Connection Type"
- Gateway
- Address 193.113.200.195
- Port 9201
- Connectionless Gateway N
- WTLS secured connection N
- Rest on this tab default
Push
"Push"
- Enable push Y
- Connection type Address: blank
- Port 2901
- Connectionless Push gateway Y
- WTLS secured N
History/Cache & Identification - default
MMS
"MMS Settings"
-Message Server: http://mmsc.mms.o2.co.uk:8002
-Sender Address Type: Phone Number
-Sender Address: My phone number
MMS Options - delivery recepit and read receipt Y
It's not 100% reliable, which I knew would be the case, but it's not too bad. Get now when the message arrives doesn't work, but I just open the MMS inbox and click the message to get it.

I worked some out the other day and after searching etc I've come up with this. Some of it was already in the wiki or on other sites...
\CAB-Shortcut-MMS10JAVA5XX-VOICE-O2-31Oct05.CAB
Installs MMS support for Pocket Outlook (folders etc), as well as MIDLet Manager and Voice Dialling
SmartDialing_enable_0915_signed.CAB
Installs smart dialling - works like predictive text when you type a name from your contacts into the phone dialler - same as on Phone Edition.
Signed_O2UK_103040101_RingTone.sa.cab
I think this adds some extra ringtones
Signed_O2UK_exception.sa.CAB
Not sure.. Installed this but didn't notice any difference
Signed_O2UK_Region_Customize.sa.CAB
Could be configure the regional settings of the phone, i.e. language, currency, date and time format, that kind of thing. This would set up the phone for people in the UK without them having to do it themselves.
Signed_Remove_BatteryIcon.sa.CAB
Removes default battery icon from the system tray.
Signed_WIZ_O2UK_PIE_homepage.sa.CAB
Sets the default Pocket IE homepage to something (probably an O2 page). Not useful.
Signed_DiscoButton_16.sa.CAB
Not sure, possibly sets/controls the behaviour of the branded top-right button.
STK_Service.sa.CAB
\CAB-Customisation-O2UK-Wizard-01-05-05Oct05XML.CAB
Probably installs and selects the O2 theme, colour scheme, etc.
PhoneLight_Skin_O2_WWE_1005.CAB
Keypad skin? Possibly. Makes your phone keyboard o2 style... I personally kept the WM2005 one
Signed_UA.sa.CAB
Not sure
Rilgsm_STK.sa.CAB
Has 'gsm' in it, could be important.
Signed_Version.sa.CAB
Not sure
signed_Prodigy_o2AUI4_build26.cab
This is the o2 interface install.. whre you select basic, corp or personal
Also has gprs config
puts task manager back, o2 logo on top bar and o2 icons in programs
and all o2 crap!! Better to install MMS stuff and GPRS settings manually.
To get GPRS and MMS to work you also have to put these settings in, they are an adaption of some found on these fourms and other sites because people's instructions weren't as clear and I couldn't get them working. I then did a hard reset and copied down the settings with all the o2 crap installed and then did a proper hard reset:

I wonder why O2 decided to remove the battery icon from the system tray.
Having just changed from an SE P900 to XDA Mini S, I really miss the battery icon and would like to know how to get it back.

try looking here [ http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?p=234919 ] and downloading the SHOWBATTERY hack
Alternatively, a better icon is available in spb pocket plus and o2 plus...

Hi all,
In Pocket PC , it allows u to switch between PAP or CHAP authentication in GPRS connection setting. This option help solve GPRS connection problem at some provider.
Sadly, I can not find any setting like that when using smartphone with 2005 Windows OS (ronswen 4.1). Anyone know how to access to this setting please help me. I can not access GPRS any more since switching from Mpx220 to XphoneIIm, and I tried all possibilities but no help, some one hint that need PAP authentication (because CHAP auth. seems default setting)
Thank you 4 yr attention

I have the above HTC phone, it was originally on the Orange network, I was able to unlock it and use an O2 sim, the problem is it's still using the orange settings for gprs and mms. Is there anyone who can tell me how to change these settings to O2's settings.
Thanks in advance for any help

Hi Folks,
I need to somehow uncover the details of the APN settings on my USB internet dongle and recreate them on my phone. If anyone could help me with this I would really, really appreciate it.
Some background:
I am currently working in Mali, West Africa and I have been having problems getting skype, google talk and tethering to work on my stock android nexus 4. After searching around on the forums I discovered that the problem relates to my APN profile on my phone, which is currently set to a WAP connection. These settings were dected automatically when I first connected to the network.
I know that my carrier (Orange Mali) supports the more advanced internet protocols (called HTTP, Web 2.0?) because I also have a USB internet dongle with the SAME internet service. Skype and google talk work great and I'm assuming if I could replicate these settings I could tether as well. I've confirmed that the dongle does indeed have a different APN profile from my phone.
Here is what I've tried so far:
Called the carrier - they don't even know what an APN profile is
Opened up the software for the USB dongle, searched endlessly for details of the APN profile. I can only see the username (iew) and the password, which is **** out. There are no other details (I believe I need the numbers for the proxy, port, MCC & MNC)
I've also searched various APN databases to see if they have the right settings for Orange Mali. No luck.
I've gone into the windows internet options - connections - and looked at the settings of the DUN profile for the USB dongle. Again the password is *** out and I can't see the other details.
Can I uncover these settings in terminal or my registry? Any help at all would be appreciated.

No need to check on laptop.
Orange WAP only for phone browsing. Orange internet is for hotspot, tethering:
Then input this information for the APN settings of Orange:
Name = Orange Internet
APN = orangeinternet (case sensitive)
Proxy = Ignore,
Port = Ignore,
Username = Ignore,
Password = Ignore,
Server = Ignore,
MMSC = Ignore,
MMS proxy = Ignore,
MMS port = Ignore,
MCC = 234
MNC = 33
APN type = default
Maybe program named "Asterix password viewer could help you?!
I am also in Bamako. Figured out what you are looking for.
The APN = internet
if you got an iphone and would also edit the apn let me know.
