Hi,
I'm after an external battery pack, preferably with quite high capacity, that has a micro-usb port to charge the pack. I've seen like mini-USB one's and the DC in but I need a micro-usb one to make things easy for me
Have you come across one like this?
Cheers
check my instagram post. 2nd from the latest. can't get the short URL since I'm on my phone right now. instagram: ijustzeke

I have this as my backup

It's more than enough.

Don't know if you can charge it via microusb though, not released yet.
I've had good luck with Anker's internal batteries in the past (HTC Sensation) so I'd trust their battery packs. Not sure off the top of my head if any of them charge via microusb.

The cager ones look to have a microusb port, although I can't vouch for the quality of the batteries. Considering the N4 can support usb-otg with a custom kernel and external power, the cager may be a nice touch if you are looking for external storage via sd card.
the anker astro3 (10,000mAh/ 3A) charges with a micro-sd cable -- there's a short curly one supplied (+ alternative tips) which you can then reverse to charge the N4 from the Anker.

i got mine for £25.99 shipped from amazon uk and i'm very satisfied with it. it's about 20% larger and heavier than the N4.

Many people probably already have one, but for the newbies (like myself) that don't have a car charger, this is the lowest price I've seen. This is the OEM charger made by HTC. Shipping for me was $3.99.

Oh yeah!
I also picked up the Kingston 8GB Micro SDHC Mobility Multi Kit for $18.99 since I was already placing an order.

Not bad for the price
How well does it charge comparing to home charger? I have a cheap one that I used with Tilt and it charged the Tilt extremely slow comparing to the home charger.

It seems to charge just as fast as the home charger, if not a little faster. If there's a program or something I can use to get the actual watts, let me know.

Look for a program called Tbattery. It will tell you how much power is being drained or added.
I've been using this for a few months now.

But the original post is useless without a model number or link to a seller. Shall i start an individual thread for all the new things i bought this month too?

I don't have a car charger so no, i don't sit in my car and wait for my phone to charge...
I didn't get an in-car charger with my Nexus so i don't even know what you're on about with a stock charger... Unless you moaning at everyone who uses in car chargers? Cos they're pretty handy when you're using Co-Pilot on long journeys.

Not sure about that particular cable but can say if it has Ethernet it is a 1.4a rated cable. One of the newest standards out. I used a cheap cable on my wife's Xoom and had non problem. Many places to get cheap cables.
Mono price.com. , merit line.com shoot even amazon and eBay. Maybe there was a different issue there.
I see that it is a crap cable I plugged it in again and it worked but it was a little off like with the picture size like I only see 2 squares of the right top side app draw button
Thanks I didn't know this was the new style I will exchange it tomorrow b4 I leave for Detroit test at my brothers house
Edit- also cable needs to be in one position or no pic its 100% a dud can't wait to play n64 or modern combat 3 on big screen!

Here is another great site I go to although nothing to with phones explains a lot.

A lot of discussion about aftermarket chargers and car chargers, but I cannot find specs for original nexus/asus charger that you get in the box.
Is it the same as this one?: http://www.asus.com/Peripherals_Acc...Nexus_7_10W_Adapter_and_Cable/#specifications
If not, could someone please post exact specs of the charger (everything written on it) for UK and EU (i know they are most probably exactly the same, but I want to be sure)
Also, since the UK charger comes made out of two parts (as seen in any nexus 7 UK unboxing video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=bfd8ithIxFg#t=229s ), is there a EU version of this? Because UK plug is the only one with detachable plug, as far as I've seen US and EU come normally, without any detachable parts. Is it a very specific part, or can I go to some local electro store and get EU plug?
Thanks!
Really, everyone talking about how they're enjoying their nexuses, and NO ONE will take 1 minute of their time to copy specs off the adapter?
Please, it's not too hard to do.
This is the very same universal charger that comes standard with the Nexus 7. If you care to read the label of yours, you'll see it's exactly the same one, specs (and looks) wise.
Regarding the detachable adapter, I think the one included in the "ASUS Traveller's Kit" for the Eee Pad TF101 is fully compatible but unless you can find someone who's willing to sell you this specific detachable plug in separate, you might as well buy the official ASUS Nexus 7 adapter specific to your country.

I will read charger specs myself in two weeks, when I indeed do get it. For now, I don't have it just yet, and I can't find info on it. I'd basically only like to know output current, so I can compare it to my Sony and Samsung chargers.
About the travel kit, thanks for the tip! Too bad the Eee pad has a completely different plug, and I'm not paying 30$ just to get the EU plug
Even the charger alone is quite expensive. I guess I'll just use one of those massive bulky traditional travel converters
Thanks for answering!
Hi. I'm in the idea stadium of a DIY car holder/charger since the ones out now looks stupid to me.
I need a smaller charger like the Nokia dt-900 which people tell me doesn't work well with n4 (comments on that?)
While looking at what is out now I've come to notice one thing (many actually), some sellers say that to get the n4 to work with their chargers you have to place the phone high on the charger in order to line up the coils. Looking at LG's charger this looks false:

The charger is placed above the phones centre line. This isn't really that a big issue but anyway strange.
The charger I need also need to be powered at 5 or 12v to simplify installation in car.
Please feel free to help me with your findings in this matter.
As for the DIY details, I'll let you in later on.
EDIT: The phone has to be high on the charger, not the opposite as I wrote :s
The Nokia chargers don't work well with anything pre- Hardware Revision 12 (if I remember correctly). So if you have a brand spanking new Nexus that says it is Revision 12 the Nokia might work.

What's the difference between revisions that makes it work?
I thought the problem with the nokia charger was that it didn't provide enough power to actually charge the phone reliably.
