Appdata to SD? - Galaxy Note 10.1 General

Hi,
i own a rooted GT 8000-N (no custom rom, just rooted, so far) and i use Titanium Backup (what else?). However, i have 16 GB internal space and a 16 GB SD-Card. I know, that TB had an option to move single apps / application data to SD-Card. My Tab doesnt have these options.
I've read some threads and i heard, that this isnt possible with the installed Android 4.1.2.
I have no idea (i'm a "casual" user, not stupid but unexperienced lol) and i really appreciate any help.

internal memory space problem

hi guys
pls help me, for few days with no installing new apps my phone is warning me abut little internal space, i cant get sms etc. i uninstall some app any time i get notice about running out of space and there after time im getting the info again and again... what can be problem? i dont use the phone but my phone is loosing internal memory space
im running stock 2.1
thanks for your advice...
2 options are there -
option 1 - create an ext2 or ext3 partition of your SD card, root your phone then either install app2sd or link2sd [link2sd is easier to install & use, but both won't coexist / work] . then move apps to sd card[in link2sd you can select which apps should go to sd card, apps2sd move all of your apps to sd]
option 2 - install a custom rom, i.e, either froyo or gingerbread, there you get the option to move ur apps to sd card.

[Q] Anyway to make use of whole internal memory for sideloading ebooks?

That depends on many things. What you mean by sideload, what you mean by internal memory, what rom you are running, and whether running on SD or emmc, what ebook reader you are using, how new your nook is, etc.
Ordinarily most ebook readers expect the book themselves to be stored on sdcard. Since you earlier said you were from India, I doubt you are running either the Nook ereader app or the Kindle app since both of them require registration. So whatever ereader you are using may let you change where books are stored.
And by storing on internal memory, I assume you mean on the internal media partition (emmc). That is the only place internally where media like ebooks can be stored. On the newest Nook that media partition has been reduced to 1GB of memory (from the previous 5GB). That is a lot of room if you only want to store ebooks there since they are not very large. But if you put other things there, you can run out of storage fast.
If you are running CM7, there is a setting to swap emmc media for sdcard so that programs use emmc to store things. But usually that setting is used for people that have no sdcard and have to use emmc to store things.
It would help if you explained a little more what you want.

My ereader is nook color v1.4.3 running stock without rooting (without registration).
I want to make use of the emmc to store my ebooks which are not downloaded from B&N store.
And I want install cm7 on a SD card and use it as a tablet only when i need to.
So my question is - Is there any way to bypass the 1 GB limit, so that I can use all the available space in emmc?
If it is possible by rooting, can rooting be undone by following the method in http://nookdevs.com/Flash_back_to_clean_stock_ROM ?
Thanking You

If you want to root your stock and have the ability to return to non-root, the best way is to make a bootable CWM SD and do what is called a nandroid backup. It takes a snapshot of everything as you have it now and puts that backup on an SD. You can also use that CWM SD to help you root stock. We told you earlier how to do that. Then after you have been using rooted stock for a while and you decide to go back to non-rooted, just use the CWM SD to restore the backup and it will be like it was before. Look at my tips thread and item A10 to see how to make the CWM SD.
To gain access to the full 5GB of available space for media storage on internal, follow this guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=14101197
As part of that repartition procedure he has you doing a nandroid backup with a CWM card anyway. So just do the repartition procedure before you root and you will have your backup.

[Q] Why is internal storage so low?

Running CM 10.2 nightlies (10/20/13) and I noticed that my 16gb device only has 5.92gb of total usable storage space. I don't even have enough space to make a nandroid backup. I don't have a 2nd user set up. Anyone else have this issue?
Other people may have the issue on any ROM on any device depending on what they have installed on it...
You need to try and work out what is taking up the space. We don't know what games / music / videos you have stored on the device
If 5.92GB is not enough space for a nandroid backup, that would suggest you already have a fair few apps installed. Also do you have any other nandroid backups still on there.
My suggestion would be to install something like 'DiskUsage', browse your data partition and work out the biggest space hoggers.

No, it's not 5.92 gb of available space. That's the total space listed. The amount of available space is much less.
Ah right my bad, misunderstood.
First, install DiskUsage anyway and browse aronud. Still check that you haven't got any nandroid backups on the device. They don't always get reported in storage. Move them to PC or cloud for safekeeping.
But it's likely your problem is similar to others I've seen in these forums. You're not the only one to experience this, also search a few similar threads "Nexus 7 missing storage" for instance here
When did you notice this, did this occur during an update to CM 10.2?
What bootloader version are you on (latest is 4.23 for Android 4.3)?
Reading around you may need to free up some space for a nandroid, completely unroot and reformat your data partition, reroot and restore.

Best strategy for storage mgmt using root and Link2SD

Love my Note 10.1, but was getting annoyed with the restrictions on moving files to SD. I have rooted my LG phone and used AParted and Link2SD to get around its storage issues. I'd like to do something similar with the Note but I have some Q's.
The tablet is rooted as of last night and Link2SD installed. I was hoping to have more options to "Move to SD" for some apps I have installed, but I don't. Or some apps that were moved before root only moved token files over to SD.
Should I move those back over to device, then moved them over wiht the new rooted status and will it move more over?
I'm planning on replacing my 16g card with a 32 g card, then using AParted to create an ext2 part and then I'll be able to create links to maximized my storage. How much should I reserve for system installations? 16gb? 20gb?
Thanks, any other Link2SD tips would be appreciated.

[HELP] Partition issue, no more space for apps

Hi all, thanks for kind support,
I've a 900V CID11 bootloader locked, unrooted, I installed MM 6.0.1 by safestrap.
MY phone is 16GB but it looks I've really small space for apps, someone can kindly describe me how the storage is allocated?
As I guess reading around, the safestrap eat me 2,5gb for some reason, then there is the rom space, then the "sdcard" folder for data. On sdcard I still have 500MB available but I think the phone doesn't want to use them for installing apps. I've 32GB SD but it looks also that with uroot phone I can't move apps there.
Any way to expand the space for installing apps? Any way to repartition the space? Use the 2,5gb of safestrap? Maybe repeat the procedure using flashfire?
By now I've a serious limitation. Thank you for help
I ask kind help, thank you
Well your only option is to look up how to use your 32gb as card as adoptable storage

thanks for answer,
may you kindly explain me breifly how the whole storage is allocated on the phone memory? What can it change if I'll have root (what can I edit/reallocate) and if one day someone will unlock the bootloader and I can load everything? (can I use the supposed 2,.5GB safestrap partition as system?)
Thank you
help needed to understand, thank you
do you need to know how to use the adoptable storage? And sorry for taking so long
I would know how 1)
Android partize the internal memory,
2) why data wipe is not wiping the /sdcard folder (I'm speaking about intenal memory),
3) if there exist a ROM partition and if it the same of "System" or two different
4) if it is possible to edit files inside System and ROM with root permissions
5) if System has a rigid partition size, or depends on the quantity of internal, and which criteria is used to assign the space.
6) If gapps are all stored in System
7) Where the 3rd party apps are stored
8) Where folder data is located, and it's not /sdcard folder.
9) if safestrap eats 2,5GB of space and hide it from a file explorer.
10 ) if it's possible to reduce safestrap partiton
11) if the space used from safestrap reduces directly the "system" partition, or even "data" and "/sdcard"
12) if it's possible to edit the partitions size, for example I've a big SD card and I sould like to use the internal memory almost for installing apps.
Thank you a lot!!! I can't find such infos.. and that is quite amazing. You can answer briefly
somebody can help clear? Thank you
Hopefully somebody can reply me, thanks
Do you still need help
Yes please, I would know how Android works with the storage, I think there are some hidden partitions that I can't see with xplore, containing ROM.
Xplore tells I've 11GB internal memory (and the phone has 16, where are othere 4/5?)
And also tells that:
root total amount is 2,47 GB, free 16%of 11GB=1,7GB
Internal storage (SD card folder)= 1,44GB, , free 16%of 11GB=1,7GB
2,47+1,44+1,7=5,61, where are other 5GB to make 11GB?
I think I lost somewhee 9 GB!
Thank you for help!
This might explain it more

What you are saying sounds about right with safestrap and rom slots. And 16gb just isn't all that much space to work with.
Root Essentials will allocate your sd card for you. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.superthomaslab.rootessentials
Also, with safestrap...are you using the main rom slot to boot into? if not, you should, then delete the other rom slots, that will free up a ton of space. plus if i were you, i would get rid of safestrap and flash TWRP on your phone. http://forum.xda-developers.com/ver...t/rd-unlocking-galaxys-s5-bootloader-t3337909
Good luck
I thank you very much for your kind help!
Let's proceed by order, ok about the real 14,6GB, but does the ROM shows itself in xplore in the root folder? I think it should.. like I can see C:\ on the windows OS with all the system files. Or does Android hide the ROM files?
I agree about Safestrap caused it, I used it to mount the Android 6, I unfortunately have a CID11 S5 and I can't have it rooted, how can I recover the Safestrap wasted space? I think I'm using only the main ROM, I followed the procedure to root Lollipop and upgrade with Safestrap to MM.
Thank you a lot!
Any help here? Thank you a lot!
