[Q] Sounds and notifications - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I'm wondering.. Is there a way to get charging/charged sound notifications on my nexus with normal plug charger and stock rom?
Also.. Is there a way to insert a "clear" notifications button on my tablets (nexus 7 & tf700) just like i have in my cell phones?
TIA.

I think you should be able to use tasker or automate it to set a rule for when you plug your charger in to make a sound
There should be three lines at the top right of the notification panel once pulled down
Hope that helps

Thanks for the reply. But i didn't get it, is tasker an app or OS related?

Try this - Battery Solo Widget - http://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.maicas.android.batterys&hl=en
Apart from being a rather nice battery widget, you can also set audio notifications for charged and discharged.
Rgrds,
Ged.

Thanks, now it only remains the clear button for the notifications area.. But I admit i might be reaching too far on this.

I've downloaded tasker and i'm trying to set a rule for plug in charger, but it seems a little confusing. Can you please help me out?
TIA.

Unfortunately Battery Solo Widget has no charger notification..

Oh thanks, I wasn't seeing this cuz I had tasker disabled.
Can anyone help me on creating the rule for charger connected sound notification?
TIA.

Never mind this post.

Thought I'd bring this thread back to life.
I have a Nexus 4 and I'd like it make a notification sound when I connect/disconnect the USB charger.
The battery app mentioned before does not do this, and it seems Tasker is the only way.
Before I spend a lot of time learing Tasker, does anybody out there know if there is a Tasker script (or whatever it's called) already made for this job, or where I may find one?
Thank-you.

Status Icon - ear with signals where battery monitor used to be

I've searched, and cant quite figure this out. In the status bar, I see an icon that looks like an ear with 2 signals coming out of it. I am using DamageControl 3.2.3, with the Aloysius theme. There used to be a blue battery meter where it was, and now its that weird icon. I know another post said it was the hearing aid thing, but that is turned off. When I turn it on, it a headphone icon pops up, so its not the hearing aid thing. Any suggestions how to get my battery meter back up there?
I have the same issue.. It is coming from the theme. At first I thought it was some type of bluetooth headset. I believe that there was a fix posted up on the theme. Can't currently find the link.

Notification bar issues /w bluetooth? (DK28)

Has anyone else had problems with the notification bar malfunctioning and showing green? I have run across this with all DK28 ROMs so far but wasn't able to find anyone else with this issue. It only happens when the phone is connected to a bluetooth device. It happens for all programs just used dialer to show the problem.

I have the same issue. I use LauncherPro, and have configured the double-home-tap to invoke the notification bar. That is how I get around it.
Thanks so it is a DK28 issue then.
Its not an issue. It does this when on a phone call whether it be blue tooth or handset. If you pull down the status bar there are call options. Its to let you know your connected. Personally I dislike oyt and wanna start looking for a fix our a work around in the xmls.

That makes sense. I agree it is kind of crappy. Good to know it isn't a bluetooth thing. I just couldn't see it against my head. Lol

Disable Charging complete on galaxy

Can someone tell me how to disable the "charging complete" notification? I charge my phone by the bed and it wakes me up every night. I have a non-rooted phone.
Thanks!
I think the only way to do it without any modification is to put the phone in silent mode.

trying this app now. I will let you guys know how it goes!
https://market.android.com/search?q=battry+charged+silencer&so=1&c=apps
You can also just delete the sound from system/media/sounds/blahblah (cant remember preciesly)
I have seen that too. But don't you have to be rooted to move system files?
it was
mv /system/media/audio/ui/TW_Battery_caution.ogg /system/media/audio/ui/TW_Battery_caution.ogg.bak
But i get an error that i dont have permissions.
I think you only have to switch off the system volume.

This app seems to be working so far. Can another non-root user test it also to confirm? I guess ill know for sure tonight when im sleeping.
root your phone...it`s a must if you want to enjoy it ...
I am thinking about it. Im just kinda scared since its my work phone.
JVH seems to have made this worse. Even on silent and no vibration, it will vibrate when charging is complete. Stupid!
Other stupidities: if th ephone is too warm, it will show a pop-up that charging is not possible. When that popup is dismissed, it immediately reappears.
And it seems the charging method is changed: I cannot use the phone as a music player in the car when it is connected to car power: a continuous clicking/scratching sound appears. Didn't have that on 2.2.1...
Whats JVH?

My brightness slider and auto-brightness DO NOT.

And more specifically and as far as I can tell, if the phone is freshly booted then the functions listed above work. However, after several hours on I go to adjust the brightness and the screen does NOT change its brightness no matter whether i set auto-brightness or adjust it manually.
Let me preface this topic and let you all know that I still have my stock screen protectors attached and I've installed the light flow app if that matters.
Any ideas?
EDIT: I such at naming titles.
same here, just wiped. no clue what's causing it
Same for me I just noticed this. Hope its something fixable in an update.

i don't have this problem, auto brightness and slider always work
Auto brightness doesn't work
I am having this problem too... Works for the first while, then doesnt work at all...

I uninstalled ledblinker and it seems to solve the problem. Do you guys use lightflow? That might be the culprit

Have you tried wiping? I haven't had any issue since
Ugh never mind, brightness got stuck again.
Wow am i glad to have found this thread, i have been battling this problem since day one with this phone, and i have been trying to track it down with usb debugging but have been unsuccessful. What happens is that my screen will randomly shut off and be non responsive for 5 seconds and when i can turn the screen back on, i can no longer adjust the brightness and only a reboot will solve the issue. It also occurs when i am not using the phone so i think it is a hardware issue but i am uncertain.
Things i have tried to fix it:
Factory reset
Fastboot flash factory image
Flash cutom ROM & Kernel
Didn't realize it before but yes, my screen randomly turns off, then the brightness gets stuck. Thought it was timing out

You guys use auto brightness? Maybe that might be it
This happens to me occasionally too, haven't been able to determine what triggers it. It's almost as much fun as the magical battery levels. Plugged in the other day, went from 4% to 100% in a nano second.
interesting...my auto and slider work just fine
ugh still getting this problem daily. does't matter if auto brightness is on
There is no solid way to reproduce the problem, so I am willing to bet its a hardware issue. I will be calling T-Mobile this week to replace it.

Of the people who are experiencing it, how many have a notification drawer widget (Widgetsoid, Power Controls, et al?) and have a brightness toggle on it?
I've removed brightness from Widgetsoid to see if it's a conflict of some sort.

Yes I'm using power controls. Still does it even if I disable the brightness toggle

Might be a hardware issue? If it was software I think a lot of people would be complaining about this.
Edit: ugh as I was typing this post, screen flashed and turned off with broken brightness. I just rebooted like 5 min ago too

Not sure. Here's one report on Google Code: http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=40378
Edit: could just as easily be a OS issue, if it decides to stop polling the light sensor for some reason. Many people have the battery bug as well, which seems to stop polling the battery for some reason.

[Q] Notification sounds from an unknown app

Hey
Over the last few days my phone has been making what sounds like a notification sound, it has two parts, a warbling sound followed by a beep. It doesn't sound like any notification from an app I use and the sound isn't in the default list of sounds or in media/audio/notifications/ and it continues to happen even if I have no apps running.
Has anyone had anything similar happen or know of a way to view what apps would permission to make notification sounds?
Thanks
Dan
Are you running stock or custom rom? If it's custom, just try to reflash it. Make sure to wipe cache/dalvik cache.

Stock rom.
I've stopped as many apps as possible and It just won't stop it.
I keep trying to record a snippet of the sound but predictably after going for about 10 minutes non stop it's now packed it in.
Probably the NFC sound.

My WiFi only 2012 Nexus 7 has started doing this also the past 2 days. I'm running stock 4.4.2 and have been going through turning off anything the might generate a notification and it still does it. On or off charger, full battery, cool to the touch, screen on or sleep, no alarms set, no appointments, no chats and basically nothing common or easily overlooked.
I thought for a second it was related to juice defender, I'm still exploring that possibility. Do you have JD on your device? I'm going to uninstall it on my device and see what happens, I'll update in a day or so with my outcome.
