[HOW-TO] Enable Three Button Combo [RECOVERY] - Galaxy S III Mini General

Do you want to enable buttons to be able to boot to recovery?
Well, here is how:
UPDATE
Benzonat0r found an easy way to apply three button combination.
ONLY 2MB DOWNLOAD
MIRROR
FLASH IN ODIN AS PDA
Read about it HERE Don't forget to thank him.
I also made one from service software for i8190N
Attached at the buttom is also one for i8190 which includes Official CWM 6.0.2.7.
This will make keys work and flashes cwm at once
Don't forget to set your counter to zero with Triangle Away.
This work is made by dolar4ik out of service firmware. Give him a thanks! It was first posted on 4pda.ru, a russian forum
Otherwise:
Download This rom "I8190 серв. укр.rar" from here.
Unpack .rar and open Odin.
Select the goldenxx.pit to [PIT]
CODE_I8190XXAMA2_809600_REV00_user_low_ship.tar.md5 to [PDA]
CSC_QXE_I8190QXEAMA1_20130109.163004_REV00_user_low_ship.tar.md5 to [CSC]
Put your phone in download-mode and connect it to computer.
Hit [Start] when device is detected by Odin.
You will end up with a "La'Fleur" branded phone, but no worries!
Just go to download mode again and flash your choice of firmware.
The three button combo will still work!!
This is not in any way my find, or work. I just wrote a small tutorial and added cwm.
But..you can still hit thanks if it helped you.
Thank you.

All OK. Returned to official with no problems
The only issue remaining is fixing binary count

Re: [HOW-TO]Enable three button combo[recovery]
Strange. My phone had the three button combo right out of box. When I got it went home and put it right to download mode using 3 button combo and flashed generic ROM. The csc changer not working on 4.1+ ROMs without root, but my ROM is BTU so I am ok with it.

Yeah, no problems with download mode (vol-/home/power)
but what about your recovery mode? (vol+/home/power)
Many s3 mini's shipped without that function.

Update
First post updated with proper credits and a link to an easy method made by Benz0nator.

On top of that, Triangle Away works. We can reset the download count now.

Dont know what I did but when I got my phone yesterday, I just let it update itseelf to the latest 4.1.2. After that I reboot then flashed TWRP then rooted the phone. I can still access recovery by pressing home + vol up button + power button. Then I cleared the counter with triangle away, wiped everything then flashed the latest rom from samfirmware. TWRP was still intact but I had to root again. After rooting my phone is still showing everythig as "official" amd binary counter still "0"
I only reflashed because on the phone there was no auto brightness so I thought I messed something... but later found out there was really no auto brightness on this phone which is really oddd when other lower models have it.
Anyway at least I can still access OTA update.

(REQ) CWM Recovery for SC-01D

Hi. I'm not sure if there's someone who can build device specific CWM and I've been wondering if it's possible.
I've tried to flash several device specific CWM recovery fieles on my Galaxy Tab 10.1 LTE, SC-01D(available in Japan).
However, it didn't work.
It freezes when the vendor's logo appear.
I know it's not easy to build CWM, especially for the device which is working on different CPU(it's not tegra2).
I would much appreciate if some of you genius build it for us, SC-01D user.
Thank you.
I'm using cwmr_touch_beta5_maguro on my sc-04d now. Working perfectly.
Oh nice! Thanks for the info!
I'll check it out and will try it when I get home today!

Ah I've missed read.
I don't think it's working on SC-01D.
Because, it's for nexus(sc-04D), not for Galaxy Tab 10.1 LTE, sc-01D.
Anyway, thanks.
Does anyone know how to make / who can make a device specific CWM recovery?

Fixed mine... HTH
I had a similar experience - I tried to use the file recovery-cwm_4.0.0.4-sam-tab-10.1.tar.md5 with Odin on my Docomo Galaxy SC-01D and it wouldn't reboot properly. I was lucky enough that I could boot back into the Download mode (Power+Vol Down).
To recover my Tab, I used the CWM tar file found here:
wwwDOTteamovercomeDOTnet/p7500/?page_id=5
NOTE: I cannot post links yet, so I put DOT instead of .
After using that file, I can reboot into the OS and everything seems normal now. YMMV. I'm not brave enough to try anything further tonight, but tomorrow is another day. =)
Any one SC-01D user who already successful with custom recovery ?

Sorry to say this, but it sounds like you should never even have tried to flash a custom ROM...
Try contacting the store where you bought the phone, perhaps they can fix it for you
In the future, stick to a stock ROM or READ before you do something stupid again!

Whatever happened to just helping someone out instead of making stupid remarks about burgers and how he never should've flashed in the first place?
@TS >>> You can probably still get in Download mode. Turn off the phone, hold the power button + home button + volume down button and hold those untill you see the Samsung logo appear. Release all buttons and you'll enter Download mode.
You can then use PC Odin to flash a stock rom and if you want root it and flash a CWM enabled kernel like the Abyss kernel. There are a number of guides in the Developers section so just go there, take your time reading about flashing and you should be good to go.
Dont panic, rule number one. Bad for your blood pressure.
Just take a deep breath and start over. Go to development section and read stickies. Then start by following regular procedure in dr Ketans thread. All will be well, just dont wipe or factory reset.
Best to go first to Gingerbread, then if you have bootloop wipe/ factory reset.
Best also to do the procedure with pitfile.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using Tapatalk 2
I would leave a pit file as a very last resort. If you can enter download mode its likely you're just soft bricked.
Plus I don't think rom manager supports the note yet... better to use PC Odin and then mobile Odin for upgrades/custom roms.

[Guide] Revert back to Original Stock Rom With Kies

Hi to all. This is a very simple guide to revert back to the Stock rom that came with your phone.
Odin is not needed, also no special skills needed. All you need is a PC with Samsung Kies installed.
Kies is best to be updated to latest version. latest one is 08-01-2013
So, let's start. If you were rooted and the custom binary counter has increased, please use TriangleAway prior to this guide.
1-) Open up Kies with phone disconnected, but keep it powered up cause you will need it for the serial number.
2-)Navigate here (tools) (picture 1) and select the 3d option (software upgarade and preparation). you will get this Enter GT-N7100 press confirm.
3-) enter your phones serial number(picture 3) wich you can find either under the battery or by navigating to yout phone Settings- About device- Status- Serial
Number. Press confirm. after pressing confirm you will be presented with a dialog which lets you know that the device will be wiped. Press Confirm again.
4-) you will now be presented with the version (picture4, it is for my phone. you will have maybe other) that is the latest for your phone and your serial number. press confirm and wait for the first download (picture5). wait till it finishes.
5-)in the next screen (picture 6) read and select Agree. put your phone in download mode by pressing volume down+ home button+ power on. do not release the buttons till the phone is in the screen that tells about warning. press volume up.
connect phone to PC and press down at Start Update button.
this will take a while to download cause the update is about 1GB.
wait till it finishes and phone boot up.
Set up as usual.
Hope it helps.
Wow, thanks!
I hust have a question about this, for example, if i ever want to rollback to carrier stock ROM, i should follow the steps above? If we do this, are we going to enable OTA carrier updates as long as we don't root the phone, right?
Thanks!

Thanks... This is good to know. Question though... I live in Canada and my device was a UK version that I bought from a store here in Edmonton, Alberta. That being said... Will Kies be able to find my proper STOCK firmware given my location or does it find it based soley on the serial number?
It finds it base on serial number. If is is a UK device it will install the latest one for the specific serial number and UK.

Wrong ROM, constant rebooting, recovery not accessible!

hi guys,
I downloaded this ROM which now I know was not the right one for my phone, I flashed it smoothly through TWRP, (this was my 1000th time flashing custom ROM's on different phones), rebooted the phone and from there on I have this constant rebooting which happens so quickly that doesn't even allow the first page's logo to appear on the screen before it restarts again, i have a vibration every 7 seconds or so. I have tried every mean I know of to get into the recovery but no luck, the download mode however is reachable, I used odin to put the stock rom back but the phone is still not booting up and acts the same, please help me if you can. I also tried flashing a recovery only image on the phone through Odin, but it doesn't allow me I think due to my bootloader still being locked.
thanks a lot.

when I press vol up + power button it vibrates once now I have tried two things, one I left it right away and it goes to the rebooting cycle, but if I keep holding the buttons combination nothing happens, the weird thing is that even for getting in the DL mode I have to release the power button first while still holding the vol dn so it would get in there, and the page to the dl mode renders very very slowly, also the page after that after I press the vol up.
Recovery mode is vol up + home + power. Release just the power button when the phone vibrates
You were able to successfully flash a stock ROM back? If so, see if Kies will recognize it and do an 'emergency firmware update' or something like that.

I can get into dl mode, I went to sammobile but didn't see anything compatible with mine, there were mostly international versions of it, or different regions other than the US. do you have a link I would love to try a new firmware I think that should do it although I am not sure why the stock rom isn't getting it in order
one more thing I forgot to say is that I erased the system folder through twrp before flashing the last rom, something that I had done before and was corrected by the odin.

[Q] Flashed ROM - it rebooted and died?

Hi,
Sorry if this has been covered but search is down and I am panicking! I have an i-337 ATT Galaxy S4 that was unlocked for Tmobile. I just bought it 2 days ago and tonight I rooted it via motochopper and installed TWRP.
I downloaded Liquidsmooth and Gapps and flashed them via recovery. I did a factory reset and a nandroid backup. After the flash I selected reboot, and the phone turned off like it was rebooting, but never came back on!
I did a battery pull and nothing! I also tried holding down + home + power!
I accidentally forgot to wipe cache/dalvik cache after the install.
Help! I hope this isn't a brick. I've been rooting phones for a while and haven't ran into a problem.
No response when I plug it into the computer, and no charging light (the battery probably has 95% charge)
Thanks

You were holding down the wrong buttons.
Press and hold the VOL-UP button then press and hold the POWER button until
you see tiny blue text on upper left side of screen to go into "Recovery Mode".
If you want download mode do it the same way except instead of the VOL-UP
you need to press and hold the VOL-DOWN.
Good luck with it.
Remember it;s faster to click the "THANKS" button than it takes to type "thank you"!

I can't tell if the t01teatt is for your specific device. I haven't seen the t01te before. I would have expected something different. The symptoms you describe sounds like a bricked device caused by flashing a rom not for your specific device.
I assume your MDL cause you have a custom recovery.
Did you use Auto Loki recovery?
If you didn't use Auto Loki recovery did you flash the Loki doki zip ?
We need all steps you took from start to end before you rebooted your phone.

the phone was bone stock locked att i337. I unlocked it via the service hidden menu on YouTube. it worked fine.
next I rooted it with the motochopper, flashed twrp with goo manager and rebooted to recovery. my first load with twrp seemed to hang up and freeze, so I pulled the battery and rebooted into twrp.
I loaded the liquidsmooth to1att and gapps to be flashed. both seemed to flash successfully, and then I hit restart. forgot to wipe cache and dalvik, planned on rebooting back into recovery to wipe/maybe reflash and wipe cache.
the phone turned off and never turned back on.
I had a T-Mobile sim card in the entire time.
thanks and please help. sending this from my crappy evo lte

If Odin doesn't recognize it, and I think you said it doesn't, then yea I think that's your only hope. But I'd keep trying to get it into download mode and have Odin recognize it. I haven't seen a hard brick of the i337.
Use the original usb cable, the usb ports in the back of the computer, and if that doesn't work try a different computer.
The build.prop in that ROM you flashed says it is for the SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 which is the Galaxy Note II. That's why it is bricked. Make sure you don't try to flash that one again. If you do get it to come up in download mode make sure you have the correct file before trying to flash again.
Good luck!

Well that, or if its in warranty, send it off to samsung and play dumb! Just say something like "it turned off during firmware upgrade and never turned back on"

...and end up with an MF3 phone?
It's better to send it off for Jtag like JD said. If it never had the MF3 bootloader on it, there shouldn't be a problem with them putting MDL back on it (as long as there isn't a hardware issue). To me, the cost is well worth it.
