Can't root

Universal androot didn't work, z4root didn't work, superoneclick failed and its starting to drive me insane enable root access is hidden from the hidden menu please help thanks in advance
Sorry if it has been posted somewhere else I searched but I couldn't find anything to help

Hi, what ROM did you used?
If you're using custom ROM, not stock ROM, it has already root.

nope im trying to root my friends phone for him he's on stock rom. i have rooted lots of other phone with superoneclick without any roblems but this ones a bit tricky :\

I'm afraid that you will have to flash custom ROM into it.

How can I flash a custom Rom onto it if its not even rooted?

Joestone has made a brief tutorial about how to root gt540 on Modaco.
Have you check his thread and try his method.

You DO NOT have to root the GT540 to install Custom ROMs. You will need to flash a "Fastboot ROM" to install Recovery and Custom ROMs. There are plenty of guides here and on MoDaCo on how to flash custom ROMs. If a guide tells you to root your phone before flashing a ROM, don't. You don't have to.

well that changes things thank you so much, all the other phones i have messed with needed root before you could flashh roms so i assumed it was the same here thanks again

No problems mate, It's just the GT540 differs from the rest in this case. I still stick to my views and think every phone should have an unlockable or already unlocked bootloader, Where no flash or w/e is necessary lol

[Q] Flashed wrong rom, now in bootloop

My buddy with a Droid X that I rooted for him and installed GummyJar on went in to rom manager and tried to install a Gingerbread-based ROM. I assume that you can't do that until you upgrade to stock gingerbread first because it didn't like it.
Now it appears to be in a boot loop and I can't get in to clockwork recovery. What do I do?

Sbf back to froyo and then reroot and install a custom ROM...

No because you will lose root unless you don't want to be rooted. The OTA is unrootable at the moment

Follow the instructions below to return to froyo or upgrade to gb rooted or not.
Check out these links.
Link 1 makes a linux CD that you can use to SBF back to Froyo in about 10 minutes. This is a very easy method to get back to froyo. If you can burn an iso file to a CD then you can do this method.

Then you can use z4root and install pre-rooted GB using the 2 flash method at link 2. Make sure that you use Droid 2 bootstrapper and not Droid X bootstrapper to install the rooted GB.

Gingerbreak does not work with .596 (OTA version of gingerbread). Must install pre-rooted version.

How To Install Custom Kernel or Custom ROMs?? --- HELP!!!

My device is already root & unlock using WugFresh root kit. So now I want to move into installing custom kernel or any custom roms available...my question is how to do that? Is it still using WugFresh kit or other utility....anyone plese halp me....thanks!

Install Rom manager, flash recovery, search a Rom and gapps and download them, go with rom manager to recovery and flash rom.

Help about superuser

I am Not A Newbie
A few days ago I broke my Y's display so sent it for repairs I was on stock unrooted when it happened
Today I got my phone back and Superuser is not working on any ROM, I tried Repencis Nexttoics creeds and even stock
After rooting on stock The SU icon come but all root app say I am not Rooted (same thing happens on pre rooted ROMs)
Tried flashing 6 stock firmwares via odin(the problem is always there)
The update.zip file I have worked well till now
And I can't go to Samsung saying "Hey I can't Root my phone can you help me??"

uae any working CWM .........flash it ... then follow the step like windows software install ..... try both supersu and superuser

Download superuser 0.8
Then update your busy box to latest version .then update your su...it will work...try it

Try one time whitexp kernel 0.8.0 RC its pre rooted......

Try to update your software without odin..then install update.zip using cwm.also update your busybox to latest version.your superuser will works...now u r rooted

i know this might sound crazy,
break your phone again,
and make the guys from samsung repair it,

Odd but all your rooting methods are flashed via cwm, i remember there is another rooting method using pc, i used it to rroot my friends pphone which ran on froyo but as i remember it would also work on gingerbread too its called superoneclick root, google it, if that dont work look for universal gingerbread root or try looking for gingerbreak.apk use other methods of rooting not just the update.zip from cwm

[Q] How to downgrade from stock 2.3 to 2.2

i am having some problems rooting on stock 2.3 so i want to downgrade to 2.2 so i can root and install custom roms on it, so my brother can shut up, asking me questions like, can u install ics or jb for me -.- but any ways is there any ways i could root on stock 2.3 or how could downgrade to 2.2 so i can root

How are you planning to install a rom if you can't root it?
Some methods were designed for older models & could turn your phone into a brick.
It has an unlocked bootloader, you should use fastboot to install clockworkmod & then root it or install a rom... search for my old thread.
