How are you planning to install a rom if you can't root it?
Some methods were designed for older models & could turn your phone into a brick.
It has an unlocked bootloader, you should use fastboot to install clockworkmod & then root it or install a rom... search for my old thread.

Not sure if its already possible to root the 2.2 official froyo or does any root method still work. Please send me link. Thx in advance
i think you can go back to 2.1 then get s-off so youn can root. search for it its here.
So downgrade.to 2.1 root it then update again to 2.2?
Downgrade, root, s-off, then 2.2
how would we flash clockwork mod recovery after we update to 2.2 again? Could we just download ROM manager if we have S-OFF and install recovery from there?
Was on the same boat. The "want froyo and root " thread has a good step by step. There are some files you will need to download.

Ok so I updated to 2.2.1 OTA and rooted it with cyaogenmod 5.0.8. How do i unroot it now? I read somewhere you can download the stock 2.2.1 and use ROM manager off the sd card. Where can i download the stock 2.2.1 and also is there another way to unroot?
PLEASE HELP!!!
THANKS!
1. Why do you want to unroot?
2. What's your fastboot info?

if you need help
you'll have to post your phones info without that we cant help you or will misguide you
Rooting = getting SU binaries on your device
Runing CM = running custom rom and is actually misleading to call it rooting.
What you want is to return to stock rom or change to an updated custom rom, and not "unroot" per say...
Just to set the terminology :0)
I was wondering if I was rooted (overclocked) and I didn't get the OTA update for Gingerbread, is there any way I could get the official T-Mobile Gingerbread OTA from another source?

If you are rooted, why would you want the OTA?
But yes, you can download it. Download the OTA now from the dev section. And just save it on your PC till you need it.
And when I'm ready to flash it do I go through Bootloader without root?

The official ROM is here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1074391
But if you flash this, you will lose root, and not be able to root w/o downgrading (same as the OTA).
This one is rooted, and probably what you want to flash. Flash from ROM Manager or Recovery:

2: I currently have no memory card, just using the internal memory, to flash jelly bean can i install it through the internal memory by putting it there and flashing it through TWRP?
3: I have a verizon unlocked phone, if i plan to upgrade i'll have to get the verizon firmware of jellybean or some other? can anyone give me the links for it?

Easiest thing to do will be to flash one the the JB roms through TWRP and yes you can use the internal memory to do this. If you are looking for a true Verizon stock rom you can either use this utility http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2249773 or flash this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2250155 using RSD lite.

thanks a lot bro, you've helped a lot in understanding this, being a noob i need all the help i can get so thanks again... what is confusing is that i have a verizon phone and using it outside the US it's unlocked though, but jellybean upgrades the radio as well right? i hope it doesn't make the phone unusable since i use more than one networks?
and plus, will i have to root again if i upgrade to JB?
what's up with that?
To the best of my knowledge the JB roms do use a different radio however I am a Verizon user in the US so I'm not sure what impact that will have in your situation. You will not lose root if you flash a new custom Rom but if you use one of the methods for stock 4.1.2 that i mentioned you probably will. You can always download voodoo root keeper to regain root if this happens or just root it again using the motochoper exploit.
edit - you may end up in a bootloop if you flash a custom JB rom straight from ICS. You should probably update to JB using RSD lite before flashing a custom JB rom.
