I'm no developer, but.
I want to try my hand at making or modifying roms for my Electrify M. My question is does the standard Kitchen setup work for the Razr M?
Java jdk, cygwin, et al... Or is some other setup or components required.
I don't want to go following the kitchen setup guides if they are not what I need.
Thanks
ok,
I'll give this a whirl.

Hi I am working on a project based on linwizards kernel, basicly converting it completely to run on an excalibur. Right now all we have done is rebuilt the kernel with proper screen timings and demensions, as well as a semi working keymap.
So basicly we have a terminal, and x but we cant use x yet since linwizard was created with touchscreen in mind, and the excalibur has no touch screen.
So anyone with this kind of development experience (linux, some c, compiling, custom toolchains, etc.. might help to have an excalibur) Please respond here if interested, and thanks.

Hello all I am currently in the process of learning the android os and am in need of a bit of help from you "Non-Android Noobs"
1.Would installation of the android sdk be the first step in my learning android process?
2.Installing Eclipse as per prerequisite in installing the Android sdk, so there are quite a few eclipse options to choose from. Which do I need?
Thx to all for any help.
EDIT: I actually just realised that I posted in the wrong place, mod pls move and sorry bout that
I use the 99m one,Eclipse IDE for Java Developers.
Maybe you need some books to find the detail.
I'm a beginner.
Hello,
I need some help to figure our how to obtain, craft, or otherwise hack a '.config' file for the Droid 2. My aim is to hack together a toolchain for building kernel modules for the Droid 2. However, I am stuck at the stage of needed to hack together a functional '.config. for the D2.
The following points I have followed up on but hit a deadend each time. Please take a look and comment about your best practices or where I should look next.
1.) I have seen on other forum pages that most phones you can download the .config file directly off the phone from somewhere like '/proc/config.gz'. However, the Droid 2 does not seem to have this.
2.) I have also seen that you can obtain the '.config' file from the gpl sources from phones like the Droid X. However, this too is a bust as I can not find the gpl sources for the Droid 2.
3.) I have also seen mention of a make script called, 'mapphone_defconfig'. Mentions about this have indicated that it should help to generate a stock .config that is geared for Android in general. However, I can not find specifics about it nor where to download / find it in the AOSP repo.

David
Hi,
I would like to test the roms I can find here, on an emulator.
for that, I will need something like the SDK for the Acer tablet A500.
(to build my AVD)
I can't find it. anyone have an idea where I can find it ?
thanks
Olivier
http://lmgtfy.com/?q=android+sdk
ah ah ah . so fun )
unfortunatly, it is not provided by google !
I know well the android SDK, I am talking about a small part which is sometime provided by constructor in order to help the developper to build application with android SDK.
for example, Sony provides the SDK part for some of its device. it has to be added to the android SDK.
I think it could comes from Acer, or developer who has it because they are working near or far from this (in the same way, the Leak comes from someone which is near from developer team)
I am still looking for that.
thanks
Olivier
Im totally confused as to what you are looking for.. If its reference sdk from acer . They have not provided this.. I think its something they provide to google then google adds it to the sdk. or acer will provide a repo to add to your sdk.
now here is what setup i have..
1 download the sdk tools from developer.android.com/sdk i think is the url (use search )
2. download eclipse (there is a link on the developer.android.com site)
3 download the correct FULL Java library abe sure to read the requirements on the version of eclipse you use for what jave version you need )
4 Read read READ .. Read the how to install sdk development environment in Eclipse for your EXACT OS . Pay close attention to every detail. like is is x86 x64 and so on.
5 Follow the instructions word for word on again the install and setup for android development platform for your OS Version.
This is what i use as well as CYGWIN (this is for advanced users) As well as there are other tools that make developing much easier. YES IM NEW TO all of this as well. But have learned alot over the last year.
The above only gets you ready. Once you get to this point . KEEP . WELL YOU KNOW THIS Part already KEEP READING.. in a few weeks you will on your way.
GOOD LUCK developer.android.com has everything your asking and beyond.
If any of the above is incorrect Blame it on developer.android.com or the mighty thor. god of the universe..

Ubuntu/Linux dist is required to build a project from a source code, and it requires a pro to build and debug a project/ROM frm source! To make a simple/normal custom, you may even use Kitchen(in Cygwin for Windows) or even in Linux!
For ur question, Ubuntu is better choice!
Ubuntu is not a must, but its easy because it have the most tools preinstalled for this.

if you are not building from source all you need is
apktool
java jdk
android kitchen
cygwin (if using windows)
notepad++
winrar
There are many guides - best you do some searching for example
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1801690
Well theming a custom ROM takes a lot of time and for completing the work on time you obviously gonna need some niggas to help you in your work.Well if you have a good internet connection then you can sync up sources and compile ROMs like Carbon,Pac or AOKP Kitkat for this device since we're getting closer to a stable CM11.There are a lot of guides on how to sync a ROM source code on the computer.Search down the threads and start syncing.
