[Q] AMR-WB on AOSP or CM based ROMS? - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have codefirex's AOSP based rom on my Nexus 4 and I'm on T-Mobile USA. When I call a stock T-Mobile SGSIII on the T-Mobile network, it doesn't sound that great. I tried running stock on my Nexus 4 and it sounded a bit better . I can confirm that the SGSIII is using AMR-WB by the service menu(shows AMR-WB 12.2k). Is there a way to find out what voice codec is in use in AOSP roms? I got some time on my hands so I'm starting my investigation on this.

Looks like it works. Strangely 4.2.2 stock's build.prop doesn't have this defined...

T-Mobile User Using Omega Questions

I absolutely love this ROM. I'm keeping an eye on the camera updating thread for a fix.
Does anyone know how to get the 4g icon back for my data icon on status bar?
Is there a build prop edit to make it read from a different system ui area?
I've read a lot about omega dark theme but can't find it for the life if me. This a lot community and hope to run across another member who's been here and done that

If you look in build.prop change what is there to these.
ro.product.name = jflteatt
Ro.product.model= samsung-sgh-i337
Ro.product.name = jflteuc

What about t-mobile. Can I just change to what t-mobiles build prop says and I'll have the 4g icons back? Have you tried this yourself? Was there any negative impact on anything? Thanks

I'm confused. You're a T-Mobile user asking questions about Omega, which afaik is a Euro ROM. And this is an AT&T forum.
Is there an Omega port for the AT&T phone? I don't see one in the ATT dev forum.
I've been thinking about flashing the i9505 version of Omega just to see what all the fuss is about.
I'm a t-mobile user. Flashed omega I9505 rom and my dedicated t-mobile kernel. Everything is perfect
I thinks awesome with all the options we have on this phone. Is only going to get better as AOSP source is going to be released for our devices. Not that I want to run AOSP but it opens the development flood gates even more! We're off to a great start. Best I've ever seen on a new device

Yea it all works fine, im not really sweating the firmware message. I was just digging around in the apk looking for that message and I was going to get rid of the check all together but I cant seem to find the code.

That would be awesome. More then likely there's no update for it, maybe it just needs to verify something in the kernel? Hope you get it

Kernels are beyond me at this point, im thinking its in the framework apk or something, I swapped the camera apk from a stock att rom and it did the same thing.
So far I have swaped the lib files the apk and the cameradata folder, none have worked.

I'm use to seeing that t-mobile 4g icon so never paid close attention to what exactly was going on with 3g to hspa+ normal transitions. I'm seeing the 3g to H constantly bouncing back and forth. Does data try to stay on 3g unless there's data demand and then it reaches out for a better hspa+ connection? When looking in settings /status it's indeed bouncing back and forth. My data seems to be the same using both the epct-mobile.com and the fast. T-mobile.com APN.
Do you think this is normal guys or should I try to find a fix. My data is ok doing speed test. Around 9mb down average. I would think that it should stay in hspa+connection?
Thanks I would really appreciate any clarification or if another t-mobile user using I9505 roms could share there experience. Thanks

[Q] Best tweak [MOD] for RAZR M?

What is the best tweak MOD for the RAZR M?
Battery Life: TESTING...
Smoothness/speed: Pure Performance X Gold Edition
Features: Pimp My ROM
Pure Performance X Gold Edition
Pimp My ROM
CrossBreader
Fly-On
ODEX (Compatible with any of the above)
I have to go with x-breeder, its been my go to mod for a while now. If i remember correctly pimp my rom can help "pimp" a stock rom which is pretty cool.
Its worth noting that I have not used fly-on and am still on a 4.2.2 Rom.
SD swap. As implemented in the Avsitralia deodexed mod rom. Basically renders internal for system use. You can still use internal if you want.
YEah, I tried out Pimp My ROM... that was a fail.
Both the Aroma & App versions failed to create a rescue.zip, along with all of their other features.
Switching to crossbreeder...

It speeds up the UI drastically, it is smooth like butter
I highly recommend this over crossbreeder.

It works in a totally different way than XBreeder, and I'm pretty sure you can use them together. Also, the issues with many of the those types of mods is that they eat battery. They claim to save on battery, but I've tested a lot of them and almost every one of them eats up battery.
I think I'm starting to notice that... But it defiantly does what it says, best performance I've ever had on this.

Yeah, with every mod that I've run the phone will fly, but with performance comes battery drain.

I used to use Supremacy, but it's pretty old and is not updated. However, it is a real light init.d script that doesn't touch build.prop at all. I would use this on stock CM and helped and didn't drain the battery much at all. On any ROM that's not stock CM, I only run XBreeder. A lot of ROMs have tweaks build in that we can't see, so I just leave it up to developer to give us a good product.
Haven't really seen any noticeable battery drain on xbreeder but not doing any scientifically sound tests... Just general use

OK so I pulled my old Dinc out and fired up 4.2.2 on it with the performance and xbreeder mods... Wow! It competes with my RAZR m when it doesn't have the mod, and it doesn't kill the battery either!
I figured out the battery consumption problem also
It is not in any of the mods, it is your wakelocks.
I've found "Google Services" as a whole is the big bad wolf to look out for. I suggest turn off all location related services (NlpWakeLock). Also make sure NFC is turned off if you really don't ever use it.
I suggest flashing both xbreeder AND Pure Performance for best results.

Is there a color tuning kernel?

One of the things I liked about Franco kernel was that you had the color tuning option. I understand that Franco kernel isn't compatible with Xposed framework (or something along those lines it really isn't clear) but I'm stock 4.4 with lots of Xposed and would like to be able to fine tune color saturation and all that. Anyone know of a solid custom kernel that would allow me to do that and still be compatible with Xposed? I had to use the Franco kernel app before with his kernel.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
if you install a kenel like hells core or ak you can download the app "trickster mod"
there hava a opcion that can change the calibrete of the screen like
-google (stock nexus 4)
-lg
-halfbreed
etc
works perfect and is the most simple and easy
Franco works fine with xposed.

Seems like I was reading through that thread and saw some issues with the Xposed mods. Maybe my bad. Another thing I struggled with is knowing which to download. I can't seem to decipher nightlies from stable releases.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
Xposed doesn't work with the ART runtime, that might be what you read?
And don't stress over Franco - there is no stable release for the N4 since he's making little changes a couple times a week. Just flash the most recent nightly from the official thread. We're on version 199 right now.

And since we're on the conversation of the Franco kernel is there support for 4.4.1 or 4.4.2? I see this as the heading. I'm curious because I haven't upgraded past 4.4 yet and not really sure if I'm gonna fool with going back to stock and reflashing etc...
