Is there a color tuning kernel? - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

One of the things I liked about Franco kernel was that you had the color tuning option. I understand that Franco kernel isn't compatible with Xposed framework (or something along those lines it really isn't clear) but I'm stock 4.4 with lots of Xposed and would like to be able to fine tune color saturation and all that. Anyone know of a solid custom kernel that would allow me to do that and still be compatible with Xposed? I had to use the Franco kernel app before with his kernel.

if you install a kenel like hells core or ak you can download the app "trickster mod"
there hava a opcion that can change the calibrete of the screen like
-google (stock nexus 4)
-lg
-halfbreed
etc
works perfect and is the most simple and easy

Franco works fine with xposed.

Seems like I was reading through that thread and saw some issues with the Xposed mods. Maybe my bad. Another thing I struggled with is knowing which to download. I can't seem to decipher nightlies from stable releases.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app

Xposed doesn't work with the ART runtime, that might be what you read?
And don't stress over Franco - there is no stable release for the N4 since he's making little changes a couple times a week. Just flash the most recent nightly from the official thread. We're on version 199 right now.

And since we're on the conversation of the Franco kernel is there support for 4.4.1 or 4.4.2? I see this as the heading. I'm curious because I haven't upgraded past 4.4 yet and not really sure if I'm gonna fool with going back to stock and reflashing etc...

Kernels for N4

Will all the kernels work for any ROM?
Hope this isn't a dumb question, but this is my first experience with an unbranded true vanilla android experience.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
Yes because all ROM's are AOSP. Just make sure to flash the stock kernel after if you decide to switch from franco.Kernel. My favorite kernel is faux123's kernel. Battery is amazing and performance is also great. It's a little sluggish at first but after it settles it's great.

Yes all works with all roms as well as stock.
Nexus 4 all have same android version so there is no different kernel for that.

Franco or Faux display control?

I'm trying to decide which one I would rather use. I am leaning towards faux but with the coming of the display control app I'm not sure if the 5 dollar kernel control app will be enough.
If you think it is worth the 5 dollars for either one tell me. Then tell me which you use and why, I want to figure this out today!
Thanks guys

If you want to change the colors, I'd try Trickster MOD first.
Flash franco's kernel and buy his app

I started using Franco, but it didn't offer enough control of the gamma, which is pretty important if you're going to calibrate your screen really well and get images that really pop out at you.
Using FauxDisplay now, (which seems to work fine on my N4 with Matr!x kernel), and getting some decent calibrations.
Odp: Franco or Faux display control?
I'm using trickster mod with enhanced stock kernel by faux.

i don't want to sound harsh or anything, but please try the kernel first, and then buy something !
I bought the display control and it worms just fine with his enhanced stock kernel. I did have some trouble getting it to work at the beginning but after that it was pretty easy

Best rom for dd?

I currently am running liquidsmooth 3.2. I just found out that the thread for that ROM has been closed as per OP's request. I would like to switch to a different ROM but based on current choices, I don't know which one would be the best for a daily driver in terms of stability and performance. You advice would greatly appreciated.
Carbon rom is made by many off the devs from Liquid
Bionic Rom is pretty stable , basically stock with bionic patches for krait.
Paranoidandroid ROM is the way to go!

Xylon ROM is one of the most stable roms out there. I would say any of the big name roms in the Original development section are pretty stable. Codefire, Xenon, anything else that isn't in beta.
I love Rasbeanjelly and MMuzzy myself.

+1 for PARANOIDANDROID
Basically any rom is good enough for a daily driver on this phone, I know its a Douchy answer but with a nexus its basically your opinion its not like we are using Roms on the next update with major bugs to be worked on lol

If you want something close to stock with some nice additions that add to the ROM I highly recommend MMuzzy. It's stock with the addition of clear all button for recently opened apps, T9 dialer, customizable quick settings, enhanced power menu and the addition to determine between H and H+ speeds. Other than that it is stock. But a good start for a first time ROM.

please don't report any CM 10.2 bugs
there are a lot of them
I will not start to fix CM bugs cause I will not stay on CM. So I will just sync whatever CM has changed
so this is mostly to find device specific issues cause those will happen on all custom roms

First of all, congrats on the build. It's running much better than I could have hoped for, and I haven't seen a bug so far.
I'd like to let you know that the application I mentioned in the official CM thread a couple of days back runs properly on this build. I haven't had time to compile a proper test app for you, so I'll just throw the APK in here if you'd still like to test it. I'm suspecting it's an issue on 4.2, but I haven't had access to another 4.2 device so far. If you'd prefer I post this in the official thread instead, just let me know.
Anyway, the APK can be found here. The included fade animations turned out to have no effect on performance, so don't worry about that. The mere presence of the two backgrounds causes the application to grind to a halt, I noticed it in another app as well.

A rather minor bug, but the hardware key LEDs don't dim with the screen like they would on CM10.1. I must say they're quite bright in a dark room.

[Q] Best tweak [MOD] for RAZR M?

What is the best tweak MOD for the RAZR M?
Battery Life: TESTING...
Smoothness/speed: Pure Performance X Gold Edition
Features: Pimp My ROM
Pure Performance X Gold Edition
Pimp My ROM
CrossBreader
Fly-On
ODEX (Compatible with any of the above)
I have to go with x-breeder, its been my go to mod for a while now. If i remember correctly pimp my rom can help "pimp" a stock rom which is pretty cool.
Its worth noting that I have not used fly-on and am still on a 4.2.2 Rom.
SD swap. As implemented in the Avsitralia deodexed mod rom. Basically renders internal for system use. You can still use internal if you want.
YEah, I tried out Pimp My ROM... that was a fail.
Both the Aroma & App versions failed to create a rescue.zip, along with all of their other features.
Switching to crossbreeder...

It works in a totally different way than XBreeder, and I'm pretty sure you can use them together. Also, the issues with many of the those types of mods is that they eat battery. They claim to save on battery, but I've tested a lot of them and almost every one of them eats up battery.
I think I'm starting to notice that... But it defiantly does what it says, best performance I've ever had on this.

I used to use Supremacy, but it's pretty old and is not updated. However, it is a real light init.d script that doesn't touch build.prop at all. I would use this on stock CM and helped and didn't drain the battery much at all. On any ROM that's not stock CM, I only run XBreeder. A lot of ROMs have tweaks build in that we can't see, so I just leave it up to developer to give us a good product.
Haven't really seen any noticeable battery drain on xbreeder but not doing any scientifically sound tests... Just general use
Sent from my XT907 using Tapatalk 4
OK so I pulled my old Dinc out and fired up 4.2.2 on it with the performance and xbreeder mods... Wow! It competes with my RAZR m when it doesn't have the mod, and it doesn't kill the battery either!
I figured out the battery consumption problem also
It is not in any of the mods, it is your wakelocks.
I've found "Google Services" as a whole is the big bad wolf to look out for. I suggest turn off all location related services (NlpWakeLock). Also make sure NFC is turned off if you really don't ever use it.
I suggest flashing both xbreeder AND Pure Performance for best results.
