The lockscreen widgets are broken ? :/ - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

The lockscreen widgets in my opinion are kind of buggy and feel unfinished.
I dont get it for example when I'm listening to music the music widget looks small ,but when I swipe to other page in the lockscreen then it gets bigger , I'll attach pictures so you can understand better , does this happen to you too ? It happens to me with every widget I place on the losckreen

Is not possible to keep it large everytime ? Also just one widget per screen ? Its silly to have a whole screen for a small widget like this

Anyone experiencing this too?

Same thing here. I figured I'd give the lock screen widgets another shot with everyone gushing over the Dashclock widget, but the implementation just seems awful to me. One widget per screen and not being able to set them to always be maximized is ridiculous.

this is intended.. As you swipe (or touch a widget), you are actually "telling" the lockscreen, that you want to use a widget. Then your widgets are being maximized so that you can use them comfortably. When you touch the lock, the unlocking area will be maximized again (some people use a pin, therefor you will definitively need this area), as your intention is to actually unlock the phone. Makes perfect sense to me.

I would program the widgets to fill the screen on default and only when you touch the lock the widget makes itself smaller :good:

my thoughts exactly...
you can use maximized lockscreen-widgets without the need to manually maximize them on the other pages (meaning: left from the main-lockscreen).

Unlock Screen

Love the new Vibrant. Just got it yesterday, but not too fond of the unlock screen as far as the "sweep away" goes. Don't want the pattern unlock either. Suggestions?? Thanks in advance......
There are some good lockscreen replacements apps out there -- WidgetLocker, GOTO, etc. -- but they all seem to have their issues. In my experience, they can (at times) be laggy, show the desktop BEFORE showing the lock screen, and are at times flat out sappy looking. The GOTO lockscreen is *very* nice looking, I must say, but has some bugs to work out. My $.02 on that.
I've actually grown rather fond of the Samsung lockscreen. It let's you swipe any direction that feels natural to you, and is quite responsive. Maybe just keep trying it for awhile and see if it grows on you?
I suppose i'll give it a shot. Would be nice to use a pic of my kids and still have the same ability to swipe it away in any direction. Just not a big fan of the semi opaque screen. Might be a nice double for a picture frame or something. I'll keep trying. Thanks.
There's an app called No Lock that will take the lockscreen away. Works great.
myLock. Google it.

Same. works great. Comes with a widget for quick toggle.
Thanks. Loving No Lock already.
Love it!!! ))
aunlocker is nice but you have to pay for it
Simply Lockscreen Is the lockscreen replacement that I have been using for a few hours seems to work very well when you disable the "statusbar visibale:" and " Show original statusbar:" options.

[Q] Where can i find this clock/weather widget?

Hey guys, got a little question i hope you can answer!
I'm after the clock/weather widget in this screenshot from the Shadowfrost theme

I've seen it in a few places.
I understand the clock is the simi clock and the weather is fancy widgets (which i have both) but i'm not sure how to get them looking like they do in the above screeny.
When i try and apply a skin to the fancy widgets 4x1, it doesn't seem to take affect and just looks like it did to start with.
Also, how do you get the long line to part through both widgets? I know you can stretch the simi clock down but it won't let me use the same line to seperate the fancy widget.
Thanks in advance
Matt
you need luncher pro (you can change widget`s size) , place simi clock on the same end, and just stretch over other widgets
Thanks for the reply. I've already tried doing that but it won't let me because the widgets will conflict with each other, won't let me overlap them.
Also, does anyone know why when I apply a skin to beautiful widgets weather, it doesn't work, it just remains the same.

This shouldnt be the case with Launcher Pro.
If you can setup all of your widgets on the screen, while leaving enough space for the clock widget in its default size you should be fine. As all you do then is press, hold and release the clock widget the stretch it over the other widgets.
The only problem you will run into is then if you wish to manipulate one of the other widgets or the clock widget its self you will have to either remove the clock widget entirely first, or drag it to an empty screen, resize it and drag it back once you have made the required changes.
Hope this helps, was probably written in half jibberish.
Check my signature.
Oh and make sure your SD card is mounted. All Beautiful skins are downloaded to your SD card, so if it's unmounted you'll be stuck with the standard skin.
Thanks again guys, managed to sort it.
For some strange reason i thought i was already using LauncherPro (got the Ultimate Droid rom). Bought LauncherPro Plus and it worked straight away
Thanks again!
Matt

[SOLVED][Q]Persistent AccuWeather on LockScreen??!!?

I'm on my Rooted SM-N900W8 running Official Samsung 4.4.2 with various mods and this one issue is the only problem I've had with it. When I changed the DPI in Build.Props from stock 480 to "phablet" 320 I noticed some times on the lock screen is the AccuWeather widget that won't go away, I can turn the display off and back on and its gone, some times its not. I have already AccuWeather from the device so I don't understand where this widget is coming from or how to disable it?

Figured it out, the AccuWeather is integrated into the stock Samsung Clock they have for the lock screen, when you pull down on the lock screen clock widget, it expands into the AccuWeather widget, the only way was to remove it from the lock screen and find a new clock widget. Found a cool skin for UCCW that I'm using now. Everything is perfect again.
In short, to anyone else who is having this problem, which when I was searching, is quite a few people, you can NOT get rid of it and use the stock clock at the same time, you need to go to Settings, under the Device tab, go down to Lock Screen, and activate the switch for Multi widgets.
From there you can go back to your lock screen, pull down on the clock, long press on the clock/accuweather widget, move it up to the trash can and delete it from the lock screen never looking back. then click the box with the plus in it to add a new widget to the lock screen.
If you're like me and simplicity is key, then once you have your one widget picked, go back to settings, device, lock screen, and turn Multi widgets back off and you will have a lock screen you can't slide side to side with the new widget you picked and no AccuWeather.
I guess the reason it was coming up now is because I have the DPI set so high it's finding there is more room to run AccuWeather widget as if it's already pulled down so this problem was always there. I just didn't notice it until I change my DPI.
I hope this helps anyone else who has this problem, I know there's a lot of people out there because I found more threads of people with problems and not one solution that works. Mine works, but you can't use the nice simple off set clock from Samsung anymore which is kind of a shame, but the UCCW skins have thousands of good ones that are close enough for me.

[Q] Lockscreen Widget placement

maybe i'm missing something, but is there a way to align the widgets in their collapsed state to one side of the screen or the other, instead of always being top centered?
I like a very minimalistic lock screen, usually with a picture of some sort. I'd like the widget to not cover up the subject of the image, so I'd like to be able to align that widget to the left side of the screen preferably. I understand that when expanded it will take up the entire screen, but when it's collapsed, I just want it to sit in the upper left corner.
I'm running a CM11 nightly, but have had similar issues with the stock touchwiz roms, if that makes a difference.

That's not possible, unfortunately. The best you can do is find a widget that doesn't cover the parts you want exposed, but the widget itself week always be centered (unless you modify the source code yourself).
ok, thanks.
really sucks that it's like that, to me it should be the same as a home screen, just drop it wherever you want it...
I wanted to know if there any way to reduce the home screen weather widget height, it takes lots of space. If I could reduce it I could put another line of apps shortcuts. But on the other side I don’t want to remove the weather widget.
To my knowledge you can't do that.
What you can try is placing a Zooper Widget on the lockscreen. That way you can decide where the information is placed within the widget (You can move the text and all). (If you place a second widget, you can delete the 'main' one and the second one becomes the main lockscreen widget.) For instance, mine looks like this: (This week)
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Or you can try a lockscreen replacer.

Full screen Apps - Thought this might be a worthwhile thread

Hey,
So Hope everyone is enjoying their new Z3C, I know I am.
As a first time on-screen key user, the one thing that slightly grates on me is the way the nav bar takes up screen real estate in certain apps. So thought maybe (I'm going out on a limb here and assuming Im not the only one with that mentality) would be useful to compile a list of apps (whether they're games, or simply alternative versions of sms, browser apps) that are full screen. I.e. they support and use the 'Immersive mode' without the need for root.
Browser wise, my contribution is Javelin, which is ALMOST as fast as Chrome, but is extremely elegant and offers full screen, (via transparent nav buttons) which just looks SO much better.
Anyone else? I appreciate you can get any app to be full screen with root tactics..........but still.
Only app I've noticed so far is Reddit Sync with ads removed uses the transparent nav bar and it is beautiful.
Agreed, full immersive mode is the way to go. The on-screen nav buttons are an eyesore, IMO. I can't wait to achieve root (without unlocking the bootloader) so I can apply it to all my most used apps which look far nicer in full immersive mode.

THANKS for mentioning Javelin! I've searched for a good fullscreen browser and it seems this is just what I was looking for.
Regarding the topic - for those of you who don't know it already I can recommend Talon. It's a gorgeous twitter client that can be tweaked in every possible way.
Guys,
I expect you guys know but there is an immersive mode app that i have been using, it doesnt require root and you can even toggle it on and off from the notification bar (there is a setting to enable this).
The only issue is that for apps where you want or need to use a keyboard it doesnt work when active, though you can disable, enter text and re-enable afterwards. You can even toggle it on for the home screen.
Worked well when I was experimenting with it.

I'm using All in One Gestures: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.phoenixstudios.aiogestures to achieve full immersive mode right now and it's working pretty good, in addition to having a host of other useful shortcuts as well.

It's a nice temporary solution until a locked BL root exploit is discovered.
