I'm wondering if I can buy the developer edition of Razr M in Japan and if it will work with the LTE bands here. I want to have a rooted Razr M here and the softbank model is unrootable (according to the rooting thread).
I checked the official motorola site (http://www.motorola.com/us/consumer...LOPER-EDITION/m-DROID-RAZR-M-DE,en_US,pd.html) but can't find any real information other than a few pictures in a gallery.
Any information would be appreciated.

While I don't know for certain, I seriously doubt you'll get LTE. Not that big of a deal, though. Japan is HUGE on carrier based Wi-fi and HSPA+ is good enough elsewhere. Honestly, anywhere Softbank has LTE, you'll be able to get wi-fi, anyway.

First off, I wanted to apologize for posting this in the Droid 2 thread, but seeing as there is no milestone 2 thread, I saw no better place to write this.
So I recently decided to purchase a milestone 2 from Expansys USA to replace my current Android phone. However, I noticed that the one sold on the site is the european version and therefore does not work on AT&T's 3g network (850,1900). However, a motorola site implies the existance of a milestone 2 that does on fact work on these frequencies.
My questions are:
Does this model in fact exist?
If it does, is there anywhere online where I can purchase said model?
Thanks in advance.
It exists . It is being sold in Argentina by a carrier called Personal.

You might try a Droid 2 Global it has GSM and CDMA capabilities and can usually be unlocked for global SIM card use and unlocked to work on AT&T's network (Verizon locked out US GSM bands).
Hello Guys!
I want to purchase Droid X, because i find it very beautiful and cool than almost other android phones...
And the phone will be actually be used in India, so heard that it is boot loader locked and not unlocked yet
I googled yesterday whole night, but still my doubts are
1. Whats the loss of locked bootloader of Droid X (losses for just this phone)
2. So if i buy Verizon Droid X, is it possible it unlock for TATA DOCOMO (GSM) India
3. Or is it possible to use on CDMA Networks like Reliance or TATA Indicom (CDMA) India
4. Any advices?

no reply???
Anyone??
I had my DX in Dehli and Pune less than a month ago. It had a good signal everywhere and I used it a lot for texting. I was actually surprised at how will it worked. The radio is compatible at least. There are methods to unlock from VZ kicking around as well but you'll have to dig them out. A DX will only work on tata indicom since it is a CDMA phone.
Sorry, but I didn't look to see what network I was roaming on since I purchased a pre-paid Aircel SIM for local calling purposes and used it in one of my older WM phones.

i take it there is nothing stopping the m working outside of usa? has anyone imported a m and how easy was it?
I would recommend you to stick with razr i since i bought razr m on ebay and it is perfectly fine but a lot of non working bloatware and not officially supported. Like everytime you turn on the fone it said sim card was from unknown source..

That should only happen on a RAZR M if you are trying to use a SIM card from a US Carrier - there should be no issues, even with a RAZR M that has a locked boot loader, using a SIM card from Europe or Asia. All the RAZR Ms come carrier unlocked out of the box.

As someone else said, the RAZR i is sold directly in the UK and (assuming its the Retail SIM unlocked model, not the carrier branded one) its bootloader unlockable. Any M you order besides the Verizon Dev Edition is going to have a locked bootloader.
I got one working perfectly in Chile, i just inserted my microSIM, set network mode to GSM/UMTS, configured my APN, and it's working.
The only caveat is that every time you turn on the phone it displays a "SIM card from unknown source" message.
Peace.
The M is going to be released in Australia at the end of this month for an outright price off $600AUD and totally unlocked. Why are you after the M over the I?

why did you go for the m over the i? the i is available in germany too? i've decided not to import the m now. too much hassle if things go wrong or i get a dud. i've had 2 razr i now. the first had audio output issues and a yellow tinge screen. the second, no audio issues and a much cleaner, crisper non yellow tunge screen! :victory:

I think the RAZR M has much better hardware then the RAZR I ( LTE, Bluetooth 4, Glonass, S-GPS...) for the same price.
Benchmark results + 10-30 %
Thats all.
do you mind me asking which retailer you imported from?
my son was for school exchange in the USA and bought it on amazon wireless.
No shipping ..
ooooo nice. much easier!
Is this possible at all? Everything I have seen pertains to the Droid RAZR, Droid Bionic or Photon 4G.
I am using a Verizon branded RAZR M on T-Mobile getting H+ data (haven't officially checked the speeds yet).
While it took some work to get things functional, so far so good!
As far as I know the Electrify does not have GSM capabilities.

I checked USCC site and they don't list it as a World Phone. Ugh, there go my hopes.
In regards to Verizon RAZR M, is it already unlocked for domestic GSM or what has to be done? Can it be unlocked via a utility such as RadioComm or do I have to pay for an unlock code?
You do not need to purchase an unlocking code. There is a thread in this sub forum that talks about the gsm unlock using a program called RadioComm. The instructions are very easy to follow. I am on my mobile now so I will link the thread in an edit.

This may be a dumb question but I've been trying to figure this out forever and I just need an answer!
I'm trying to use my Razr M (currently on PagePlus) on RingPlus, which is on the Sprint network. I know that Sprint and Verizon are both CMDA + LTE, but I know that they use different bands and that the Razr M is listed as having only the 700 (band 13) MHz for LTE, which Sprint does not support.
But, what I don't know is if the band support is a hardware or a software thing. I know there are guides to unlock the Razr M for GSM; could something similar be done to unlock it for Sprint?
Basically I want to know if the Razr M has the innate ability to work on the Sprint network, and if not, if that ability could be added or flashed or whatever.
There's also the matter of entering the IMEI of the Razr M on RingPlus's website. It tells me the device is incompatible.
Are they telling me this because the device itself is actually incompatible or do they just not want to deal with explaining the possibility of very complicated tweaking to make it work?
OR is there some list somewhere with my Razr's IMEI on it that says that it is a Verizon phone and that only Verizon/Verizon MVNOs can have it? And if so, how would one go about getting it off that list?
I appreciate any help. I'd really like to get this to work, but more importantly I would just like to understand what is going on here.
Thank you!
Marcy
