[Q] Apple Bluetooth Keyboard compatibility - Nexus 10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am wondering if the Nexus 10 will work with this keyboard. It worked with my SIII, and I wanted to make sure it would work with the 10 as well. I'm also planning on flashing Paranoid Android to this at some point, so if you know if it works with that as well, I'd appreciate it.
Thanks

It works great. I use it everyday.

how did you get it to work? I tried while in stock, and now again in PA, but it won't connect.

I use a clone of the Apple Keyboard every day. Works great.I would assume the actual keyboard works good as well, if not better.

Have you looked at droid vnc (don't know if there is something else similar). I thought I saw another app that would also work, but haven't tried anything yet.
I did. I couldn't get DroidVNC to run on the tablet without crashing.

Ugh, sorry, I was planning to try it out myself but hadn't had a chance yet. There is another thread on androidforums about this also with some possible usable apps:
http://androidforums.com/android-applications/8858-remote-control-my-phone.html
You dan do it wit WiFiKeyboard that is in the market
Just tried that wifikeyboard and seems to work well for me. hopefully it is what the OP was looking for too
I use it to get cheats in gta 3 ;p
There is this... haven't tried it.. http://www.androidtablets.net/forum...blet-android-phone-your-pc-other-android.html
And other than that I have a Microsoft keyboard that has a little 2.4 ghz dongle and it works great. Mouse works too. If you really want the keyboard-tablet experience. Lags in not-native roms.. perfect in gmail, talk and a few others.. My two cents.
And of course there's always the transformer..

Car audio and phone guy question

I just had a new deck installed, here's the one I had installed, http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Car/CD-Receivers/DEH-P8400BH
And when I plug my phone in to the USB, it says device unrecognized. Is that normal for Nexus devices? Is there any fix for it? And no bluetooth information is displayed, i see its something to do with something that LG or Samsung puts in their branded phones, so its absent from a Nexus, is there any rom with it in it?
Hey there. Same deck and same phone here. For the USB to phone, don't bother. Never got it to work myself. As far as information displaying while playing, many of the custom ROMs support this (CM10.1, AOKP, etc.), so you might want to give one of them a shot. I'm not sure this is something that can be added, or if it's something that that requires a whole ROM to implement.

The nexus 4 doesn't use UMS for mounting. It uses MTP. Unfortunately it won't be compatible with your deck or any other device for that matter.
There aren't any ROMs that will change that either.

Get appradio with arliberator. If you didn't know what that is you can thank me later

I'm guessing this wont be in any AOSP based ROMs though? None of the ones I've used support this. Maybe I'll try CM when they finally get a stable version out, can't stand nightlies.

Haha, gotta love a cheap solution. Esp as he's just bought a new receiver.
Don't bother with cm right now. Apparently because of the new Bluetooth stack Google used in 4.21 they had to pull out AVRCP v1.3 (the Bluetooth control protocol that allows for song meta data to be sent to the headset) out of cm10.1 and revert back to v1.0 that only allows control...No metadata.
Stock Android only has AVRCP v1.0 so that's why it doesn't work on any stock Nexus device.
...but my wife's GS3 has AVRCP v1.3...boo.

Are you still using your Q?

Is anyone still using their Q now that it's been completely abandoned by Google? If so, in what ways are you using it? I was hoping someone here would hack the Q, but it looks slim. Should I throw this thing away? I want to use this things amp!

After they shut down the servers for setting them up, I quit using it. If you use cm 10. 2 with amp support and cheap cast its almost like it still works, but i haven't taken the time to put it on yet. There are guides. Don't trash it though. There are still people that will have uses for them as a desktop computer.
I haven't used mine in 6 months either but I am gonna dust it off and try to load 10.2 on it next week now that the hdmi and spidf are working. Does anyone know what keyboard and mouse combos work? I thought it was a Microsoft wireless 800 combo that I was using last time with wireless adb since there's only one USB.

I just installed cm 10.1 using the method posted by user ianandamy. Works great and my input methods are a Microsoft wireless mouse with with an OTG cable connected to the Q, and I have a wireless Bluetooth keyboard. The only things I would like to see fixed are the primal LED lighting function, and a way of powering off the Q other than unplugging it.

Actually found mine in the cupboard the other week, got it working thanks to a few forum posts here, running CM on it, using it as a quick XBMC streamer + android games console with a Moga BT joystick... works a treat.

If you install CM on it and then install cheapcast, you can cast to it as if it was a chromecast.
since putting CM11 on this device it feels and works amazing!!
-full screen immersive mode
-transparency
-snappy
-play store works perfectly
If anyone is in the UK and willing to part with their Q, I'd love to make you an offer!
Just send me a PM

[Q] Anyone tried a bluetooth keyboard?

Hi guys!
Just wondering if anyone has tried a bluetooth keyboard with the Note 3 yet. I remember using one on the Note 8.0 I had briefly was an exercise in pain. Do they work okay? Do they have any of the weird key-freezing/repeat problems?
Thanks!
Yea, been using one for a solid 2 weeks now. Works fine for me. No sissues. Just wish I could figure out how to bind the fox 12 keys as shortcuts like home or volume etc. But as just a keyboard with normal functions it works just fine. Even got alt+tab.

Would you mind telling me which keyboard you got? I'm wanting to get something of decent quality (Logitech, maybe?) that is also confirmed to work.
yea, I'm actually using an Apple wireless (M/N: A1314) that i got at goodwill for $6 with my note 3, but I feel a Logitech should work just fine as well.

Mirrorlink vs MHL Appradio3

So I just bought the appradio3 for my car for use with my S4 and I'm wondering what is the best way to connect it. Ideally I would like full mirroring of my phone to the radio. I already ordered the android kit and the mirrorlink cable so I can chose how I want it set up later and return the other if I don't want it. I found the full screen mirror apk for drivelink already and have it installed currently. ARliberator currently does not support appradio 3.
The question I'm wondering is if drivelink will work with aosp roms as currently I'm using Task's aokp, or will I need to switch to a Samsung based rom, or google edition rom.
No one here has the radio or tried using mirrorlink on aosp?
I've been using Sony xav 601bt with mirror link. Using a modified app of mirror link that allows full mirroring. I have stock s4 on 4.3 with no issues. It can be a little laggy.
Btw I installed my friends app 3 and I absolutely hated it. Requires an additional kit and doesn't allow full mirroring. Also was disappointed in the deck it self just wasn't as great as I thought.
Good luck on your choice.

Thank you for your advice. I just saw https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=78wq62aErK0 which looks pretty promising. Even better the app is currently free and looks to work very well.

We tried this with my s4 and my friends note 2 and they would not work with full mirroring that's why I was disappointed. But if you get it to work let me k ow what you did please.

Got it to work. It took a minute to get the app radio app working. Had to connect the usb first then enable blue tooth. The phone booted to the default appradio screen then once I hit the home button on my phone I had full screen mirroring.

Nice we will try this out and see how it works. I think he is able to full mirror but can't control his phone. My Sony xav allows me to full mirror and control my phone as well. Just have a bit of lag.

Screen Standby doesn't work with Android 4.3. It seems to be a bug in 4.3 and the developer hasn't found a workaround. Screen Standby works on Samsung 4.4 roms though.

That must be why it severely sucks atm with my 4.3 rom. Haven't found a 4.4 rom I like yet unfortunately, everyone is missing at least one thing I want.
I'm not sure if it's already resolved, but there's an app for that. It's called ARUnchanged. But you have to have root access in order for ARUnchanged to work.
