Thank you very much, qwerp!
EDIT: Can you tell me what tool you used to extract it? I may need to do this for some other files in the future, so it would be nice to know.

Errors in flashing 2.2 ota

I got tired of waiting and downloaded the official ota. Put it on the root of my sdcard and renamed it to update.zip. I have the .2 software version and stock recovery and I never updated my radio.
The first time I ran it it gave me an error which caused it to fail saying "assert failed: apply_patch_check (something about cityid.apk)"
I remembered I had renamed cityid so I reran unrevoked and changed it back.
the second time around I got passed the cityid problem, now it says "assert failed: apply_patch_check("system/lib/modules/bcm4329.ko")
E:error in sdcard/update.zip"
Anyone else run into this?
Wifi-N
That file handles Wifi-N. Is it safe to assume that while you were hacking around disabling cityid and whatnot, that you also applied the Wifi-N mod?
I never specifically applied anything for wireless N. I did try out hydra kernels but reverted back to the stock one he lists on his site.
Thats the only thing that has to do with wireless N that Ive ever installed

Restoring back to the stock kernel on the hydra site should have restored your wireless module.
What's the md5sum of your /system/lib/modules/bcm4329.ko file?
I'm having the same problem. If someone could post an unmodified version of the file, that would be awesome.

Yeah, that matches the one from stock kernel image at the hydrakernel page.
I ripped the one from the 2.1 RUU and it's md5sum is c1b430af3b2582568619fe94e8cfa65d. I'd guess that's the one you need.

Sucess!
I was finally able to get the update to run. I tried the file from the 2.1 update but it didnt like it either for some odd reason. (im guessing it was a bad file because my wifi wasnt working either with it). I remembered I made backup before I installed hydras kernels so i went into my nandroid backup used the file from there. And as im typing this it is installing the ota update.
you have to extract the file from the zip and use adb to replace the current bcm4329.ko in system/lib/modules

To what folder does OTA get downloaded?

i would like to know to which folder the OTA's get automatically downloaded.
you see, i have a stock g2, rooted s-off, i have a custom recovery, bacon bits and all that. however, i never updated my phone with an OTA.. and so for a time now i would get an OTA and keep postponing it.. then it would go away again for good.. until recently it started popping up yet again.
so this morning i decided that i would update. my current build is 1.19.531.1 and the update would take me to 1.22.xxx something build.
so i clicked "restart & install" and it restarted and took me to recovery (i have clockwork recovery). but it didnt automatically install the update. so i tried doing it manually within recovery and didnt know which folder to point to.
i ended up rebooting and my build version didn't change, but when i go to system updates it says that i'm up to date now.
can anyone help me out with this?
thank you!
There will be a file in your /cache folder.

In the main OTA thread we found the URL, so you can just download it again manually: http://android.clients.google.com/p...MOUS_2.15.531.3-1.22.531.8_release_197463.zip

the "flashable root" version would be PRIME 1.8.2, thats the closest you'll get. There is no stock + superuser on any ROMs yet.

If your device isn't rooted, go to settings, about tablet, then click firmware update up top, and it will install this update, if your device is rooted this file is useless to you since you need to unroot to apply it until someone mods it for rooted devices. Good luck!
one more thing

Where should i put the zip file?
Should i leave it with it current name?

If you rooted you cannot apply this, you need to unroot (head over to the development threads or google "unroot asus transformer xda" then after you have unrooted simply go into settings, about device, then click firmware update and it will apply this update, then simply re-root =] there is currently no way to apply this otherwise to my knowledge
hey
Mine is not rooted but ia still cannot update . What need to be the file name?
Thanks

it is supposed to be in /cache and named the same with the .zip removed, however I don't believe you can place it in that location without root so just update as instructed in the above posts
I need some help. The update popped up for me yesterday, but I was rooted. So I proceeded to follow the steps to unroot my device, and got it all working again. Now I can't get any updates to appear for me. I even tried to manually check for updates, it says none, but I'm still on 8.6.5.6.
Any ideas?

No idea, did you manually search for the update?
Sure did. Just keeps saying no updates currently available. I JUST had an update waiting before I unrooted, and now nothing.

Well that is weird... have you tried rebooting then searching for the update again?
Sorry for the late reply, I have been busy with my other thread, alot of people want to make their devices louder I guess. As far as updating you could also check with the Asus website, they might have the update with instructions.

[Q] Phone is soft-bricked, need NAE .tar file

So, went to download the Odex version of the NAE hotspot hack, and something went seriously wrong. I'm getting "Unfortunately SAE has stopped working, along with a bunch of other service errors. I couldn't get back to the Framework folder in root browser and so what did I do? Like a dumbass, I hard reset the phone.
Same errors with services aplenty, now I can't get back into my phone at all.
Does anyone know where I can get a hold of the 4.4.2 stock .tar file? I need it like a crackhead needs another hit.
If anyone has any other ideas about an odin flashable solution, I'm all ears. Other than that, my phone is a soft brick.
If anyone knows of a way to reset all the services through a zip file, I'd appreciate that as well!

I didn't even think about using a third party rom flashed via odin. I was under the impression that they were only flashable through recovery! Thanks so much! Now at least I can use the phone while I wait for the stock NAE .tar file. Appreciate it greatly!
Was able to find a .tar.md5 file of the stock NAE rom. I'll post a link here as soon as my dropbox gets the upload. Good stuff.

Yes but the Tera file link downloads much faster. I was in a hurry.
My phone is in the same soft-brick state as yours. service stopped errors abound and I thought factory reset would fix it (as is posted all over the interwebz) but obviously only made things worse (am a noob). I hope this still works (or works for me) and doesn't just make things even worse.

Hey guys I am trying to find the stock recovery for the Z00TD model (KE551KL) version 1.17.40.1531. Any chance you guys can help me out.

I'll be honest I have actually no idea what this does lol. What is its purpose???
You should be able to use it to extract the contents of firmware packages and pull the recovery.img directly from it.

This thing is impressive! Okay so I did it... but couldnt find the recovery
I'll check it out and reply back.
I had the same problem - I was on 1.16.xxxx
I followed these directions and I must tell you - it works perfectly:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/zenfone-2-laser/general/guide-how-to-flash-stock-rom-via-twrp-t3409768
Although, since I was so far back, I needed to flash all the 1.17.xx versions first, but it worked just fine.
Since none of these OTA roms included the recovery images (that I could find - they must somehow hide it from us) - there were no other way I could find to get the original factory recovery back, but it works great.
Now I need to find a way to re-root and re-TWRP - still working on that.
Good luck!
