i have flashed and rooted and can get into cwm with a restart program off the market but the problem is if i start my nexus
then hold the vol down i go into fastboot mode
from there i can choose
reload bootloader
recovery mode
power off
start
when i choose recovery mode and press the power button i just get a black screen saying google and a padlock at the bottom?
i dont fancy flashing a cutom rom untill i can get cwm for a startup( cold boot) and not just from a restart widget.
any help
btw root and cwm are fine i just seem to need to use a restart program to get cwm this is not ideal
Hi. I`ve tried to downgrade from cm10 to cm7, but durning this process my /data partition became corrupted. datawipe / factory reset from cwm could not fix it. So i shaded whole MMC thru USB and formatted data as ext3 part. Worked like a charm - CM10 found partition and was able to write datas on it.
So i tried to downgrade again as described in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=32820080&postcount=547, but my phone won`t go up after 1st step:
it passess `st moto logo, displays animated logo for a 7 - 8 seconds, then logo freezes and "resets" (animations starts from beginnign)
I can`t enter stock recovery to find out if data/cache wipe will help - system shows triangle with exclamation mark, but pressing "@" does not help.
Is there any hope for my poor moto or should I search for new phone?
Why don't you access the CWM recovery to try wipe cache/data instead of stock recovery?

When the triangle with exclamation mark appear, try to press Vol Up and Vol Down simultaneously instead of "@"; now you should to see stock recovery menu.
Wipe data/cache and reboot... it should work

So about a few hours ago I saw that I could download the new 10.2 cyanogenmod. I wanted it because it was Android 4.3, so I downloaded it. I tried watching flash movies and stuff, and the browsers and stuff kept crashing, and the internet didn't work completely. So, I downloaded 10.1 again, and installed it. It rebooted to the teamwin thing, and then rebooted again. A few minutes after, I was curious as to why it was still loading. Waited a long time, and it still was on the CM boot logo thing. Im using the Nexus 7 toolkit (its called something else, but im not sure what. The icon is a red toolbox with 3 tools in it), and can't reboot into recovery or flash stock back on it. How can I get it out of bootloop? I really need help! D:
Press all the three buttons , power , volume up and volume down together and boot into bootloader. From boot loader use volume buttons to go onto recovery , do a clean wipe there and reflash a ROM. Another alternative is to use adb and type
Code:
adb reboot recovery
then wipe clean and reflash ROM.

You Probably forgot to do one or some of these steps before flashing, I had the same problem today trying to flash 10.2:

Hi Red Devil,
I just tried to install CM 10.1.3 on my Motorola Atrix HD.
I forgot to wipe data and cache before installing the ROM, and now it is stuck in the boot animation.
When I press the power and volume keys down together, it takes my phone to a black screen, and when I press them again on the black screen it gives me a brief menu that says
"Normal power up"
"Recovery"
"AP Fastboot"
"Factory"
and another one I can't recall.
This screen times out in about 3 seconds. and regardless of which item from the menu I select, it still shows my boot logo, then the CM animation. I cant boot into fastboot or recovery, and I can't find anything good online to help me.
Help! What do I do?
Hi,
I did a TWRP wipe (everything checked) to prepare for a restore to stock, but my device is now stuck at the very first "Google" screen with the pad lock icon at the bottom. How do I get it to boot?

So since everything was checked, that means you wiped the system partition. The device will not boot if you do that unless you flash a factory image via fastboot or new ROM via TWRP
OK, I thought wiping /system would just bring it back to factory state. 2 questions now
1. How do I get to recovery when it's always stuck at the Google screen with no adb access? Would I have to wait for the battery to run out (hence turn off), charge it for a while, then use the buttons to boot to recovery, or is there a faster way?
2. I am actually trying to revert to stock ROM (downloaded at https://developers.google.com/android/images#angler) by following step 10 of the Heisenburg guide (https://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6p/general/guides-how-to-guides-beginners-t3206928) which advises me to use fastboot to flash the individual images. In my case, how do I boot to fastboot?
OK, so I managed to boot to the bootloader and run the following commands as per the Heisenberg guide (using the stock MTC20L firmware)
Code:
fastboot flash bootloader C:\angler\images\bootloader-angler-angler-xx.xx.img
fastboot reboot-bootloader
fastboot flash radio C:\angler\images\radio-angler-angler-xx.xx.img
fastboot reboot-bootloader
fastboot flash boot C:\angler\images\boot.img
fastboot erase cache
(above command is unnecessary on Android 7.1.2 and above)
fastboot flash cache C:\angler\images\cache.img
(above command is unnecessary on Android 7.1.2 and above)
fastboot flash recovery C:\angler\images\recovery.img
fastboot flash system C:\angler\images\system.img
fastboot flash vendor C:\angler\images\vendor.img
Everything was successful, and I did a fastboot reboot after that.
However, my device still doesn't boot up. This time. It's boot loops for a few times before turning off.
I tried booting up to bootloader with power/vol-. Curiously, I can now only do this when cable is connected. If cable is disconnected, the orange LED just blinks once when power button is pressed, and nothing happens. Once cable is connected, then I'm able to boot up to bootloader with the button combination. I then retried the flash process again, but still no go. I noticed after fastboot reboot that the orange LED blinked a few times before rebooting and boot looping.
Kinda stuck now, any ideas?
Try booting into recovery and doing a factory reset. I've had that happen to me a few times after flashing factory images and a wipe in recovery always fixed it.
Just for future information: if at any time the device is stuck in a bootloop you can get it to robot into recovery by holding the power and volume down buttons for 10 seconds, or get it to boot into bootloader by holding power and volume up buttons for 10 seconds.

Thanks. Booting into stock recovery shows an exclamation sign with "no command", since I don't have TWRP anymore. Would I need to first flash TWRP before I can do a factory reset?
I just tried flashing to the same sock firmware as before the problem happened (7.1.2 N2G47W) but still same problem. I notice that after the Google logo disappears and the screen goes blank, the orange LED blinks 10 times before rebooting.
Edit: Tried factory resetting in stock recovery (by holding down power button and pressing vol+), the rebooting after factory reset. Still getting a boot loop.
OK I solved the problem. Apparently if you reboot after the flash, you need to disconnect the USB cable, else it will boot loop.

brother help me! i am facing same issue
first little info abt my device.
my device was running on android nougat with twrp recovery installed but the device was not rooted.
so get back to stock and install oreo I followed every step given on http://www.androidexplained.com/nexus-6p-revert-stock/ but somehow my phone is stuck at bootloop with no recovery installed.
Please help me here.
As per the Heisenberg guide, if you don't install root (SuperSU or Magisk), TWRP won't stick, so you'll go back to stock recovery.
For me, simply unplugging the USB cable after rebooting after a flash solved my problem. For some reason, if the cable is connected during reboot, it would boot loop.
brother, somehow I managed to install twrp. but everytime I touch it 2-3 times the phone gets switched off.
then it keeps rebooting to 'Google' logo.
can you tell me what should I do now?
@goister Hi how you manage to get to recovery when it's always stuck at the Google screen with no adb access. Please I am stuck there

But this boots to normal boot with completely purple not working screen.
And I couldn't figure out that it is normal install is broken but not recovery boot.
To more confusion, before accassing lineage recovery or TWRP loads common LG recovery and offers delete all user data.
This creates impression TWRP or lineage recovery is not installed and is broken.
Now everything works.
I used key combination VolumeDown Power release power on LG Logo and hold Power again. Chose erase user data / factory reset and this let me boot to custom recovery mode and flesh rom with sideload command.
