Hi everyone!
Anyone knows how to make Root without a PC on N7100? ExynosAbuse can't work on new firmwares, but... Is there a way to do it?
No, you can't do it on latest release 4.1.2 (2013)

Do you knows about Samsung Official Signature for stock 3e recovery? I think, if sign the update.zip with Su and Superuser.apk and flash it... Where I can get an Samsung Official Signature? Or it is impossible?
I don't think you can get it
previous device was allowing test sign so it was possible to flash zip from stock recovery, but newer device like s3 and note2 no ore we can use test sign.

So if (when) I root my Nexus S, if I don't do anything except root it (no custom roms etc) will I receive all updates just like normal from Google no strings attached? In essence, it'll be the exact same process just superuser status, correct?

In essence you are only adding two files, the .apk and the su file. I would think that you would still get updates, but just an educated guess.
The only way you'll lose updates is by flashing a custom ROM AFAIK. An update might break your root (not sure), but you should still get it.
Nah ... then if we flash our GNS with custom rom we can't update firmware directly from google ? It is reversable reversible ... it is ?

You don't get OTA updates with a custom ROM, but you will if you flash back to a stock one.
I am not sure you can install ota updates with custom recovery either right?

Don't the ota updates install through the phones recovery? If it's not the stock recovery, how would it work? Maybe I am wrong though

Just did a Google and apparently you can download the OTA update but not install without a stock recovery. I assume you can then install it "manually" with your custom recovery.

I think you can only install the ota from stock recovery also because of the way it is signed. Although I am sure someone will come up with a flashable zip as soon as, if not before, there is an update. So I would not worry

I just got a 7.7 and am green in this. I heard to install custom ROM I need:
1. root
2. install CWM recovery
3. Install custom ROM
Before trying I am wondering whether I can still get firmware update after each or all those steps? If can't how to undo these steps? I see many posts to root/CWM/custom, but not to un-custom/un-CWM/unroot, so I'd like to have one post explaining these! Thanks!

1. Most likely
2. Possibly
3. Not a chance
"If you root:
- Official firmware upadate, you need to install/update manually to keep the root.
- Using rom, new uodate you need to flash via cwm recovery.
To unroot..etc back to stock:
- Flash Official firmware via Odin. All your cwm, root will be gone.
"
I do not understand quite well:
1. Do you mean after root I can still receive official update and can apply in official way (say, directly from device, or use Kies) those updates? It's OK if I need to re-root after update but what I concern is whether I will receive official update notices.
2. When you say via Odin do you mean using PC? Because on 7.7 Odin is replaced by CWM?
Just because the answers so far are somewhat cryptic can they be elaborated as follows?

No, you will not be able to apply OTA updates if you flashed a cusotm ROM.
So does anyone know if after appling CWM 7.7 can still receive OTA?
And, after root, how to unroot?
After CWM, how to un-CWM?
After customized ROM how to restore back official ROM?
Caution: I have tried this method with my S3 and successfully flash back to old bootloader XXALEF. But we always have to be careful when flash bootloader. According to sammobile, Samsung updated new bootloader to fix suddend death error of S3. Every update of the manufacture should be better. So I don't advise you to downgrade bootloader back to previous version. JUST ALWAY FLASH AS OUR OWN RISK !
And If you try and successfully please report here and let me know if it works 100% on another S3.
Hey guys,
After flashed stock XXELLA rom or flash new XXELLA bootloader. You can't not flash back to old previous version of bootloader anymore via PC Odin. And after every S3 reboot, it will show red exclamation mark at boot logo and always check flash counter =1 in download mode if you user custom kernel or custom CWM. This is 3 method to flash back to old bootloader:
>>> METHOD 1: You can use Sboot Checker to check which bootloader is backlisted. Then use some basic terminal commands to downgrade your bootloader. This is more simple and safer. Please visit @Odia's topic http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2081748. Credit to him.
>>> METHOD 2: This is the most simple and fast method for lazy guys ! Just download the following .zip file and flash via CWM Recovery. You will be restored to old ICS bootloader XXBLFB. This is download link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=36433966&postcount=105. Credit to @fbatti73 he has ported @Odia's command to CWM flashable zip file. So many thanks to @fbatti73 and @Odia.
>>> METHOD 3: This is the first method I've found but far too much work involved and take alot of time. But if you like this' also another choosing:
1. Always backup first, full wipe yor S3 and flash back to lastest stock ICS 4.0.4 rom not included old bootloader in it or you can fash via Mobile Odin and don't care it include a bootloader or not because Mobile Odin doesn't flash bootloader. I''m in Vietnam and I choose this ICS 4.0.4 rom I9300XXBLH1_I9300OLBBLH1_XEV.zip http://www.hotfile.com/dl/166926386/6a0e52a/I9300XXBLH1_I9300OLBBLH1_XEV.zip.html
2. After flashed ICS 4.04 rom don't root or do another work on it, Just check OTA update on S3 by Go to Settings > About device > Software update > Click Update. Let OTA update your S3 to JB 4.1.1. In my case the OTA will update to JB 4.1.1 XXDLJ1 and it takes about 2xx MB size. Yes, it's here. The processing of OTA update from ICS 4.0.4 to JB 4.1.1 can break the protect of new bootloader XXELLA . And after OTA updated to JB 4.1.1 you would have the old version of JB 4.1.1 bootloader. In my case it's bootloader XXDLJ1.
3. But although our S3 has old bootloader XXDLJ1 but it's still a JB bootloader version. Every S3 reboot you will still get red exclamation mark and counter =1 if you use custom kernel or custom CWM. To make red exlamation mark and counter =1 disappear totally. You only have to flash back to old ICS version bootloader XXALEF. And now you can flash back to XXALEF bootloader via PC Odin.
4. Just install a custom kernel and a custom CWM Recovery. Wa wa, red exclamation mark and counter =1 have already dissapeared totally.

Go to google play, find app Android System Info. Install and run it you will see current version of your S3's bootloader in System Tab.
SUCCESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Bootloader changed to XXDLJ1.
Update: Changed to ICS XXALEF.
Thanks a lot!!!
The trick is to download a full fledged ICS firmware of a country that yet no been updated to 4.1.2. After flash, let the OTA update according to that or any country that has not been updated to JB 4.1.2. I downloaded OP's Vietnamese firmware and flashed but chosen India on OTA update. It's a 285.07 MB file.
Voila you are done. The OTA does the trick.
thank you for the information, I'll try

Best way is to flash the full new rom (4.3 probably) in fastboot, reroot, restore apps with Titanium Backup and you`re done. Flashing a full rom is better than updating an excisting one imo. Link for how to flash stock rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2010312.

You can be on stock with no mods unlocked rooted with a custom recovery and you will get the ota update and it will install fine.
The ota update link will be posted here before you get on your device so it's good to have a custom recovery so you can just flash it and it will also protect you from losing root or custom recovery

If you look here you'll find many ROMs that claim to deliver the "nexus" experience. I haven't found one that could be flashed via Odin, however. You can root your phone and create a full backup of your ROM, and then install CWM or any other recovery manager to flash the one of the nexus-experience ROMs. You can always go back to the Samsung ROMs if you don't like them.
