XDA ATOM vs Dopod 818 Pro

i have search the forum and the website...
and i found something interesting...
http://www.mobile01.com/newsdetail.php?id=2471
http://forum.mypdacafe.com/viewtopic.php?t=7796&sid=77e4cfd56835b0f3e33dc0da98fd7780
and you can see that the result of the test is kinda of different...
Anyway which one do you think is better?
because i have O2 mini but recently it has some problem like if i change the battery (i have 2 batteries) my O2 hard resetted and i already send it to my provider and they already help me changed a new backup battery but the problem still exist and i dont know why... that's why i considering to sell it... too bad :? coz i really love my mini
Hi,
mine behave the same until I replaced the main battery.
now its workinf with no problems for 3 months and counting...
Atom was very slow in the beginning. But improves quite a lot after the rom update. I've been playing it for a week since my friend just brought one and need to install software for him. I don't have a 818pro to compare but here is what I feel compare to Mini. (using the latest leaked rom)
1. Atom is quite fast and responsive. But I still feel mini is a bit faster (especially multiple apps are running)
2. At first, I thought the .1 inch smaller in screen is not noticeable. But it does! (especially using it as GPS).
3. The shorter dimension make it easier for me to keep in the pocket. And I am staring to like the plastic suface because it is not as slippy as the mini.
4. A2DP is working fine but the quality is really bad and not justify for me to give up the wired solution.
5. Camera is slow (I mean it!!!) and impossible to take a good pic in without good lighting
6. I don't like the way that the mic is disable when I plug-in an adapter into the 2.5mm jack. (The mic of mini still working if we plug an 3 (not 4) poles adapter into the jack)
7. Wifi is very convenient if U need to online all the time.
Based on the review I read so far, I won't recommend 818pro due to the slowness of it's CPU.

you said you replaced the main battery... that means you have it repaired and they replace the backup battery with new one right?

Trinity vs Polaris

Hi All,
Right now i'm having Jamin/Prophet.
I want to replace it to Trinity or Polaris (Touch Cruise).
Who is the better one ?
It's almost the same price ~700$
Thanks,
Chen
Why not waiting for HTC Diamond? You will get the latest WM 6.1 plus the new touchflo UI
http://www.htc.com/europe/product.aspx?id=46638
Diamond?
Ammm. what about the price? any good reviews ?
http://www.htc.com/www/product.aspx?id=46286
The price is around 580 euro, listed at Expansys.
Delivery is scheduled to 14th July.
One review is in the video I posted above...

Everyone's entitled to an opinion, I guess!
and all new htc devices have extUSB rather then minijack so people always need to get a converter nomatter what htc phone they get or better yet use bluetooth stereo headset
I'm in the same position. I have a Blueangel and a Wizard and I'm thinking about a Trinity or a Polaris to keep the company. Is the Polaris much faster than the Trinity? How do they compare, sizewise?
To get back to the issue.
Polaris has two major minuses compared to Trinity: no video acceleration (as in ImageOn) and bad speaker.
I own a Trinity and my colleague owns a Polaris, so I know both models. I'd go for the Trinity!
So, just to make it clear, the Polaris is much slower than Trinity!
Much slower ? Ahmmm.
So, i got two options :
1. Buy the P3600i version - with the 256mb and 500Mhz cpu
2. Buy the new HTC , but then i need to wait and see if that device will have problems...
Ahmm.. -)

Remember, you can't flash to the P3600i yet so you will be stuck with stock ROM.
P3600 is the one that can be flashed.
for me.. i will go for diamond, or wait a little longer.. to see if there are any problem ..

"The Polaris is much slower than Trinity!" ???
Why? Because one CPU is Qualcom and the other is Samsung? Both are 400Mhz!
Even with double memory capacity?
Please enlight me, tnyynt

Don't know why, really!
I just happen to see the difference every day when I compare the two. Trinity is up to sometimes 50% faster.
Not to mention graphics which absolutely lacks on Polaris!

HD2 as embedded PC

Hi every body,
in a few futur I will buy a HD2. It's the best phone that I've ever seen ! But it's more i think : with a 1 ghz processor 500mo ram, it's more powerfull than my first windows PC !!!
Why don't we open a thread that imagine to make the HD2 our embbeded pc windows or linux OS ?
after it's simply to imagine to plug a keyboard and use tv out for a larger screen !!!
don't we ?
HD2 doesn't have TV out.
it would be nice, really... but... not possible. Unless it had LTE for high speed data, you could remote desktop to your pc all the time.

Yeah, apparently it hasn't got a TV-out or the host USB capabilities it was rumoured to have a few weeks back...
What a shame... Those were the only two features that could really have made me consider upgrading from my Diamond2. I still want the HD2 but I can't find an excuse for buying one anymore :'(
No tv out, no USB host ... preview specifications were false !!! processor and camera are the only two summary upgrad of HTC... there 're wrong !!!
I will waiting a new one with TV OUT and USB host (processor and ram upgrad too ! ) to buy one !!!
SO ... CU on another board

you can't compare the processor speed of a PDA/Smartphone with a computer one
Even if it did have a TV out, it would make a pretty crap PC. 1GHz is nowhere near enough now.

Jumper EZBook 2 Review - A Cheap 1080p Chinese 14" Laptop

Hello fellow XDA members, here's my review of the $189 dollar 1080p, 4GB qaud-core Windows 10 14-ich laptop by Jumper. This packs some decent specs considering the price tag. But is it any good?
Mod edit: video links removed (commercial advertisement not allowed)
Pros:
Very fluid and surprisingly quick in Windows for an Atom X5 Z8300
Legit Windows 10 license
Decent matte 1080p panel
Good battery Life, 6-7 hours of on screen time, with 60% brightness, wifi on.
Cons:
Runs too hot (50 degrees c to the touch when pushed hard)
Cheap build and feel with bad keyboard bounce and flex.
My unit wouldn't power external hard drives correctly.
@pcexpertblog Thanks for the post. Apparently, some units don't have the issue with the USB Ports, I think it could be the second batch. You also found your unit to be very fluid and fast in Windows for an Atom X5 Z8300?

Yes, it seems faster than the PIPO W9S wink emoticon. I also tried the USB 3.0 Port with my Meizu M3 Note and it correctly powers the phone.

FINALLY SOLVED ! WIRELESS DISPLAY ( WIFI-DIRECT ) Screen mirroring

I tried the microsoft wireless display adapter that worked so well with all my Samsung phones. But with the AXON 7 it was VERY pixelated (square blocks dragging across the screen).Hence not very usable.
I wanted something cheap, because I could'nt find a concrete compatible dongle. So I bought the Anycast M2 (version 2 which has decent specs).
Before updating it didn't work so well, but after the most recent update the dongle works almost flawlessly!
I LOVE IT ! This phone now mirrors better than any phone I ever owned ! I think its the 820 processor runs so smooth I forget its mirroring all the times !
I bought this device on ebay for 12$ ENJOY !!!!!!!!!!
If you guys are already mirroring what dongle are you using ? how does it work ?
