I don't know about 2 but regarding #1, this is due to apps using background data. You may want to go into sync settings and turn background data off. But bear in mind, this will stop automatic email sync and as long as its off Google Play won't function

You can use Apps Quarantine apps from the Play Store and add application to quarantine list so that you can block background running application.

Downloading m6 / m6 discussion

OK id like to make this a discussion page for the m6 rom by mur4ik
so far i only have one problem for such a beautifully presented and polished rom why does the camera still look like something off windows 95 ???? just saying
any bugs or bits or glitches etc etc please discuss them here as im sure at some point they will be brought to mur4iks attention
Rebooting and freezing at times i have a 16gig micro sd anyway to utilise this for ram?
Anonymouse statistics freezes and forces cyanogenmod settings to close ill keep reporting these bugs as i find them

You can't utilize this for RAM.
Jack
Well that sucks immensely. Found more bugs Google voice search says you can personalize but in menu no option also applanet doesn't work
Sent from my GT540 using XDA App
Is there anyway to uninstall stock voice search and install new one update I think may make it glitch
Sent from my GT540 using XDA App
We should have 815mhz as a clock setting it would be the best co efficient

Quadrant score 1120 825mhz cymod 7.1.0 rco
Well as far as I have noticed , on 10% the phone just dies - no warning popup .
Second it freeze's a alot - A LOT . In M4 it wasn't an issue at all - it never happen'd to me , but in M5 it just freeze's not while im using it ( screen on ) but sometimes ( wich is very often ) it freeze's while screen is off - it doesn't turn on , but the phone itself is working and screen come's back when some1 call's me . I had this same issue in M2 .
But all in all GREAT update , I am very satisfied with the new battery life , also the speed increase is really significant and noticable , smooth and snapy .
If the bug's are fixed in next release we will be one step closer to having the perfect ROM . I personaly would like to see native DivX/Xvid , and wireless hardware altough i don't use it . With this done ROM is nearly perfect , best one out there .
M4urik GREAT WORK MATE - REALLY APRICIATED . If you would ever hapen to find yourself visiting Macedonia , i owe you a LOT of beer .
The Flash_all_no_wipe)(fastboot) ? i havnt a clue what that is , i can guess that it dosnt wipe anything but some1 else explain it to me?
Advantages or disadvantages or wipe vs not wipe?
What one should i pick?
Backup everything and wipe I found its just a cleaner faster install
Also has to be said mur4iks work is awesome and I agree once the bugs are fixed perfect rom just need to find all bugs address them and small improvements more clock settings etc
Also on PC you can use an SD card as like a ram booster or temp ram is there a way we can utilize our 16-32 gig SD cards to do the same and speed up our phone's??
I think this would also minimize crashing freezing etc as this usually happens when system memory is low

Another bug if you search contacts in messaging it will freeze and you have to re boot
i have a problem with data2system. i installed the data2system version of this rom with recovery, and after i installed, i kept geting boot loops...its being looping for like 40min and still no change.
PLEASE HELP!! and also, can anyone send me an apk of the M5 version of livewallpaper picker.apk?? cos thats removed in data2system.
Quick question , think I know what it is just getting a second opinion, I factory data my m5 cleared cache etc, look at my phone memory, at 100mb came back 5hours later to a look its now at 92mb didn't install any apps or anything, ideas?

Thanks for answer. I uninstalled them with Titanium (alongside Quick settings, Calc+) .
Another thing: accelerometer sensor just too fast auto-rotate UI (oversensitive) . I like how it works in stock ROM.

Steps 4 d2s-version:
-go to recovery - mounts & storage
-only format system & cache => do NOT make a full format
-backup & restore - restore -> your d2s-version

Atleast 2g dude.
Just logging in into ur phone google account won't require a huge data plan.

Yes...and after that i will get fixed WIFI thing?
I don't know. I'm new to wifi related things. And that logging in into google account might solve market app only.
But after rooting the phone there might be wifi related apps or atleast may be fixes for that. I heard manual adding of network might work. But dont know really.

Fixed by changing some settings in advanced tab in wireless settings (set 14 channels)
I can't access data on my wildfire CM7

Why not just kill those apps? Plus, so long as they aren't causing high battery drain it really doesn't matter. Some things like FB, GMaps, Email etc. just pop up randomly even when auto-sync is off, but normally they don't affect the phone much at all.
try Autorun killers
Try using autorun kill apps, i'm using "Autostarts" and it's good , it organizes apps by events so you can decide which periods you want to kill apps totally, like afterstartup, duringstartup, .... etc.
i killed google play, Maps and eMail and some apps that launch at startup and it works fine

A lot of things are going to start up by themselves, it depends what is set at start use an autostart profram to disable some. But even so, when you kill an app, it sometimes force starts again because well its supposed to. YOu have to go into that program and remove every background service from it in the settings menu if you can. Also some apps are placed in the "empty applications" OOM grouping.. Androids memory management is really hard to fully understand.. the apps in empty applications group are pretty pointless. They do nothing. No CPU usage. THere is a webpage which greatly explains what each group does and i dont remember where it is -.- sorry just google "Android OOM groupings explained" and it should get you some results
Thanks so much for the responses guys!appreciate it

Maybe A Google Services Fix

Hi all this morning i had an idea to try Google services framework from PAGapps as i had been running CM11 on Xperia L before i bought my Xperia Z and had no battery drain isues at all. when i replaced it this morning i had 78% charge now as im writing this i have 64% charge. which is a lot beter battery life for me as the night before i went to bed with 83% charge and woke up with 2% and its been about the sam amount of time. so if other people would like to try here we go.
Instructions
- Charge up your battery download GoogleServicesFramework.apk from atachments
- With a root browser copy your existing GoogleServicesFramework.apk from /system/priv-app to the root of your sdcard (keep it separate frome the one you downloaded)
- Now copy and paste the downloaded GoogleServicesFramework.apk to /system/priv-app accept the replace request
- Then set permisions 0644 (rw-r-r) then reboot
So post you results and opinions here

Thanks again.

Yes i have location active i use googlenow quite a lot. i think this is an older version of google services so if you find it working which i am we might have to break market link so it does not auto update.

Oke .. I'm doing the test now .. and trying to simulate bad mobile data connection that usually trigger the battery drain ..
I'll give it 24h before making any conclusion ..
I tried the 0day PA GApps already and it doesn't make a difference, same for replacing the Velvet or Play Services apk, it just doens't matter because Google Play will automatically - when it gets the chance - update your Play services apk to the newest version which has the bug.
According to me and several others, the bug seems quite random and is hard to reproduce on purpose. Last week I had avoided the bug for at least a day before it came back, and two days ago it was back after 5 minutes.

Are you talking about disabling all sync functionality for accounts or specific parts of a Google account?

last week I was away (roaming), so obviously, no 24/7 mobile data connection ..
when I don't have mobile data connection, I would got battery drain .. tried activate mobile data connection (roaming) disabled sync and got hit with the problem ..
the only possible solution is to disable location entirely ..

pfft ... no go ... I left it to sleep ... when I woke up, although the location is correct (because I was sleeping, so no movement), the dot in map is grey - meaning location is not updated for sometime ..
after a while, phone got a bit warm, battery drained, NLPWakelock at 90% ..
reboot is the only way to recover I know ..

[Q] droidwall / message notification issue

Hi, I'm currently using DroidWall and have switched to whitelist rather than blacklisting apps..
now, I'm having issues with whatsapp.. although I have selected it on DroidWall to enable internet access, I do not receive any messages until I actually open whatsapp before it starts downloading.
To me, this appears to be a background/sync issue.. but I just cannot figure out what else I need to give internet access to so that messages get downloaded
any help??
ps.. i have searched, but couldnt find any thread under Galaxy s4 that mentions Droidwall/whatsapp issue
pps.. newbie here.. nice to meet u all

Hi, did you enable DHCP+DNS Service and (NTP) and Download manager?
Are you sure that this is an issue caused by Droidwall?
WhatsApp often has problems like this one

Hi, I've enabled Download manager - I found I wasn't able to download updates from market place without having this enabled...
but what about DHCP + DNS Service... what names could they be under
And, this is caused by DroidWall, as having again switched to Blacklist.. its working again... so its just a matter of finding out what name the above goes as..

You can try the app Af wall+ there you have a more detailed list of apps. It is a firewall also.
I will show you my list, maybe it helps and WhatsApp is working fine to me.

Hi, I tried using AFWall+, and gave access to the following apps:
- Whatsapp
- DHCP+DNS Service
- NTP
- Download Manager
But I'm still having the same problem. Also, to note... I have got Power Saving enabled (but I always had this since getting the phone a year ago and it wasnt an issue before).
I have added screenshot attachments.. can you please tell me what apps I need to give internet access to for messages to be received when whatsapp is closed..
Not sure if the following info is required:
Galaxy S4 GT-I9505
Android Ver 4.4.2
baseband ver: I9505XXUFNBH
kernal ver: 3.4.0-481100
build number: KOT49H.I9505XXUFNBH
rooted phone
Hi,
just enable internet access to the same system apps like I did and try again. I hope this will work than.
