I am able to download a game, install it, and click on it. Then the screen goes white and nothing happens. I'm sure I did something wrong when I installed gingerbread. What can I do and how can I switch to a different android build?

Have you tried downloading other apps to see if your Gingerbread build properly loaded them? There are some apps that currently are not supported by Gingerbread and maybe the game you tried to install is one of them. In regards to switching to a different build. The best way to install is to look at the build you are interested in loading. They should provide you with step-by-step support in the process. There are RAM, SD and NAND builds currently available and each has their own way to load. So check the build thread for the install steps.
Guys,
I'm so angry , I just rooted the nook glowlight and am unable to install any apk files.
I'm always getting "there is a problem parsing the package", whatever I found on the internet :crying:
Is there no file explorer by default on it ? And why this parse error ?
And most websites just crash, grrr
Anyone, anyone please anyone : HELP MEEEE
Do you have ADB working? Can you see a logcat?
Do you know that these APKs are actually good and designed for API level 7?
Also, is installation of apps from unknown sources enabled in nook color tools? Most (all?) of the NST rooting packages include it, but you do have to set the flag to get packages found via the internet (rather than the google store) and copied to the device to install.
I get that error sometimes when downloading .apk files from some sites. Your browser might not be downloading the file with the correct filetype suffix. Can you see if it has the .apk suffix on it? I've found that some browsers do better than others with handling this file-type. If you can get xScope browser or Opera Mobile I think those were better. It's also possible that a retry of the download will work, or that the file itself is just bad.
I get the same error on my nook simple touch.
the same apk's work on my galaxy nexus.
Anyone knows what might be the problem and how to solve it?
A logcat will tell you exactly what the problem is.
Use ADB and get a logcat.

Are you sure these apks are compatible with Android 2.1 Eclair? Not everything will work. Which programs are you trying to install specifically?

I haven't thought of that. but you're probably right.
I'm surprised the error message is not more obvious though.

Wrong forum.
Try installing any other package with requirements : 2.1+
In Settings check "Allow Installation of Non-Market Apps" .
Install apk from SDCARD.
I'm 90% sure you are just trying to install a package not compatible with A 2.1.

I have a similar problem...
new to rooting and romming, finaly!!!! got my ms770 lg motion back to stock and I too am getting the error " there is a problem parsing the package".
I noticed that if I download an app, it installs fine, no problem...but when I transfer from my pc, it shows up with that error message when I try to install.
I have read a LOT of these forums , trying to determine how to solve this riddle...they all say try THIS file manager, or, make sure installation of non-market apps is checked, or some such thing...
Well, the "allow installation of non-market apps" thing IS checked...still no dice...
What do I do with the log once I get it?
Basically....can someone please point me in the right direction? Please?

Hi all.
I'm working on a custom ROM for the Nexus 10 based on the latest 4.2.1 build.
It's almost finished, but I'm struggling with a few things and though someone might be able to offer some assistance.
1: I'm trying to add the advanced power menu like is found in some other ROMs for the N10, but am hitting dead ends everywhere. I've found a few guides online but none seem to be relevant to this device. My ROM is de-odexed. I have decompiled the framework-res.apk file but can't find any clues.
2: I'm trying to disable OTA updates and hide the "System Update" option from the "About Tablet" menu, but can't seem to figure it out.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, I know both are possible as I have seem both working in other ROMs, but I don't want to rip off someone else's work.
Cheers,
Will
With some help from a fellow forum member I was able to figure out how to remove the "System Update" button from the About Tablet menu.
I modified the device_info_settings.xml inside the settings.apk file and recompiled it, then re-cooked the rom and flashed it and it worked perfectly.
Now I just need to find where the updater.apk or equivilant is hiding!
In the meantime I cooked in fotakiller.apk which seems to do the trick.
Cheers,
Will
I have a new Alpine ICS-X8 installed in my car.
This should work with my S4 and the app Drive Link.
The only problem is that the app crashes every time saying "error 400" "invalid grant".
Anybody knows how to get this fixed?
I'm certain it has something to do with the latest (or almost) firmware.
Hi, I bought a used Pixel 4, and when I tried to configure faceunlock I got a "Certificate has expired" error. To resolve the error, I tried to flash all versions of Android Os available for this device, including Beta 11. Can anyone know the solution to my problem?
I have the same problem. Anyone can help?
delete the face and add again
just don't use the face unlock for now, taking off your mask to unlock is not practical anyway.
I have the same error now. Any help?

Hi there! Just wanna share some useful information about how to fix Face Unlock error on Pixel 4. Someday i noticed that Facecontrol just throw you an exception, like "face enrollment error" etc. And I also tried everything: hard reset, to flash an old android 10-11 builds - nothing helps. Then i started experimenting. So you need to uninstall updates from several Gaps (First 6 on screenshot): carrier services, motion sense bridge, adaptive connectivity service, device personalisation and device gealth service. Better to remove it one by one cheking Facecontrol become alive after every uninstallation. Not sure how these apps works, but removing patches from them solved this problem, at least in my personal case. The main thing is that your current OS build don't matter, for example my brother got this issue on android 10. If it'll cure your Pixel, make a backup of working build. Hope this post will be helpful
