i was wondering who in here has come over to this phone from a blackberry.
likes? dislikes?
i have been reading some on here about the "lag" with the HTC HD2. is this true? all the reviews i read say nothing about it. and i do not like a laggy phone. and disabling Sense makes no "sense" to me...
also, is there alot of customizations that can be done? how about updates? are they common like on a blackberry? will win7 mobile be able to be run on this? hows the battery life compared to the iphone? (that is why i dont have an iphone any more, i cant stand the battery life)
i LOVe the looks of that phone...
Thanks all!
I jummped the Blackberry ship for the HD2 last week.
I wont be able to answer ALL your questions 100%, but I will be able to help.
Lag, If you use your task manager and close the unused programs, then you *shouldnt* have any lag. I am still using the stock phone settings from T-Mo. and I am not seeing any lag at all just by closing the app/programs this way.
Customizing, The phone is still new, and the devs here are working hard to push out new stuff all the time. But the phone is VERY customisable. If your comfy working with DLL and CAB files you can change the layout/colors/buttons/exctra of the dif screanes and apps.
WP7, As of right now.. No. But the devs here are working on it, as well as the Droid os.
While Blackberry has updates offten, it still upto the provider to push em out to the end users, and T-Mo, is the worst at doing so. But you can get all the updates/mods/apps from the devs here.
Batterie life can be awesome, or it can be the bane of your phone. lol. If you keep task manager clean, the batterie will last for wat feels like for ever. I ran both of the Transformer movies from start to credits, played on the internet a bit, and made a few calls, and still had a lot of bat strength left. but if you run a lot of apps in the back ground, and dont keep your task manager clean, you will charge your phone 2x a days.
Over all im loving this phone. I have a ton to learn about it still, but it is a great phone.
My $.02

Thank you so much for your reply. that helped alot.
i just sold 2 of my BB's, so i am looking now at buying one i cant wait
I have to say with my blackberry experience with the one I carry around for work, a Nextel 8350i. being the network admin for the company I work for, and I also work with the BES server software. they can get pretty laggy as well at times. especially when there is alot of background data transfer going on to the BES server.
In the end i prefer my HD2 to blackberry. I consider the BB a good platform for someone who wants something that just works, and arent very technically minded like the people I work with. I can already imagine the issues Id run into trying to introduce the WinMo platform there.
WinMo is good for technical users that like to tweak and customize and can live with or work around the occasional bug, and are able to figure things out for themselves or with the help of a support forum like this
I would never recommend WinMo for someone that requires hand holding with anything technical/computer related. it just becomes too much of a hassle and waste of time for me having to support them.
great post...that makes me feel better to. i feel the same way, i have owned alot of blackberrys and they do lag alot more.
and i am one who LOVES to tinker with things..so i am thinking i might like this better...are there ways to recover if you play TO much and brick your phone?
also i cant seem to find any screen shots of what the sms inbox looks like? was wondering. is it threaded messages?
IF you successfully install HSPL, the chances of really "bricking" your HD2 are pretty low. The worst thing you can do "brick" a TMOUS HD2 is to flash an incompatible Radio (one with ...51... in the identifier string). As long as you stay with T-Mobile compatible Radios/ROMs, you should be fine.

Yeah, it has threaded sms messages. And there are almost always ways to recover your phone from bricking it, unless you flash the wrong radio, like he said in the post above. Just don't flash ones with .51 in them and your fine. Odds are you won't even need to flash your radio, so it's nothing to worry about. Good luck with your new HD2. Its the most versatile, powerful phone when you learn to use it well.
Yeah, I was a fellow BlackBerry user. I've had 2 in past... and my most recent device was the BlackBerry 9700.
I certainly miss the days where I'd manage to squeeze 70 hours out of a single charge cycle.
But nevertheless, I am absolutely in love with the HD2. Plus, I've owned countless HTC products, and I'm always left satisfied and smiling...
THAT'S WHAT SHE SAID!
(I couldn't help myself...)
i JUST got it! walmart had one left and i had a gift certificate. omg i love it alreay, and i have not even started to play with it. Guys i need your help...
what do i do first? updates? how do i know what updates to do? are there any tutorials in here i can read about noobs? i want to make sure mine is up to date for sure...but so far i love it. what a nice screen and feel...
LOVE IT!
I just upgraded from a Blackberry curve, and from an IT professional's standpoint, I love this phone. The ability to tinker, the software community here, multimedia capabilities, and the tools built in (wifi access point, slacker, etc.) are a welcome breath of fresh air to having a smart phone.
i have been looking and reading, but im getting a little confused. where do i go to find any updates for my phone? i cant seem to find any on the HTC website?

But, I am not sure whether they are for EU or US versions.
EDIT: Just realized the link is for the EU version...here is the link for the US version....no updates ATM but keep an eye out

oh ok, that is what i wondered...so there are NO updates for the tmobile version? is that becasue i already have a newer ROM with all those updates on it? my rom is Dated 2/22/10 and is version 2.10.531.1 (82076) WWe
is this because the tmobile version just came out?

For this to be a smooth transition you must realize this is a completely different experience. There will not be a lot, if any, official updates. What there will be is unofficial/leaked updates that are implemented in custom (cooked) roms. Some of these will be leaked from Microsoft and some will be released from HTC but TMobile USA will most likely not leak any. Don't panic though, because this is why we love XDA Devs so much.
You will need to read MSkips tutorial on flashing HardSPL. HSPL will allow you to flash these custom roms and a few other things. These custom roms will often be cutting edge so read which ones you really want because some will simply be going for speed, others looks and others stability. There are some great cooks around here who actually combine all three.
I write this because you are already panicking on a lack of updates. That's just not how it works here so you have to let it go. You don't find the same OS version on every model like in BlackBerry or Iphone over here. Older models are having roms cooked for them that include what only the new ones have out the box because many of the older phones here don't have the memory or are simply out of the loop for the carrier and HTC. My 8525 was like that. I'm just explaining so you understand the landscape better.
The best way to succeed here is to search and ask questions once you can't find the answers. Most of the stuff you have questions about has been asked and answered before (most but not all). Make sure to read in this forum and the other HD2 forum because the phones aren't that different. If you have a question or concern about a specific program or rom make sure you ask the question in that thread and not create a new thread.
Welcome to WinMo and XDA Devs. Also our TMo USA HD2's do have the latest official updates.
Hope your htc hd2 blows up! The starter of this thread is a joke! He bothers me for two days texting me as early as 5am saying he wants the phone please dont sell, as he's waiting for the money. We make a deal after going back and fourth on text messages. He tells me a few hours later he's not buying because he bought it locally at walmart. WHAT A PATHETIC JERK!! I ^&%^ wasted my time taking pix to send him just for him to take this whole thing as a JOKE! I lost out on another potential deal because this idiot agreed on buying it. BE AWARE of this LOSER!!!

I really don't know what to say about this. Did I talk with him about buying his phone yes, did we talk back and fourth all day about it? yes. Isn't that what craigslist is all about? bartering, making deals etc? it was at the last moment when i found out a local walmart had one HD2 left at the same price he was selling it at, and i had a gift card so it was even cheaper, and it was 5 min from my house (for returns etc) so that is why i backed out. I am in no way a "scammer" because of this. sorry, im not.
I apologized multiple times, and he wont accept, so there is no more that I can do. I even tried a few contacts to see if they would buy it from him. I cant do any more...
on a positive, Jain75 was Very good with communication, and answered all my questions i had about the sale. he did take multiple pictures for me like i had asked. I had asked for all of that, because i was sending someone 450 dollars whom i did not know, so i wanted all the proof that the phone was legit that i could get. and he did give that all to me.
again, i feel really bad, but what else can i do? i have had MANY MANY people say "yeah ill buy that, let me get back to you" and i never hear back. at least i told him the truth,....
I just recently came over from a blackberry storm 2 to hd2 April 1. Let me say that the HD2 is a totally different experience from blackberry. I loved how the blackberry managed my business OTOH it sucked for pleasure. With the HD2 you get both business and pleasure.
HTC blows blackberry out of the water to me, at least this hd2 does. By that I mean large screen, plenty of themes, apps, etc. Not the same old tired interface as blackberry. It has NO LAG WHATSOEVER. This phone has all my needs met and more.
Only thing about windows is you have to find roms, apps, etc instead of it being in a central location.
I will be using this phone for awhile, t-mobile is crappy in my area so I unlocked to at&t.
I carry a BB Tour and a HD2 right now.
The only two things I like about the BB over the HD2 are the battery life of the BB and the keyboard. I HATE the HD2 on screen keyboard. Even swipe blows.
But if you are anything like me, it's all about the Apps (quality Apps, that is). The HD2 is my media phone, hands down (better than my iPhone). The BB is the work horse and back up music player.

I hate the onscreen keyboard too lol. I have been trying to find another input keyboard that somewhat resembles blackberry.
Actually this HD2 can do it all. Give it a try. I use it for my business and media. I plug my phone up to my car everyday for media and it charges it as well.
I'm having 0 issues with my DVP. BUT what I am haing issues is finding usable apps, not on the marketplace.
Every time I think i fine something useful like say a file explorer i find this noted on the page.
"Update: TouchXperience does not seem to work on non-HTC devices,"
I'm not a big user of Apps but certain things should be usable no matter who makes your phone, I mean it's still windows.
You are either the only NOT having problems with the 16GB Dell Venue Pro, or you have an 8GB Dell Venue Pro.
May 4th Venue Pro just died last night. Won't boot past the Dell Screen. These phones are complete POS. I am starting to lose my mind with these things. PLEASE.... if you don't own one, go with an HD7 if your are with T-Mobile. I don't care how much brighter the Venue Pro screen is, it is not worth the headaches of the 15-20 crashes a day. Or as I just stated -- the phone completely dying.
have you solved your problem?
Nope... they say they will send another, but I have to wait for them to manufacture it and ground ship it; hence - in about 3 weeks. Another monthly payment with no phone. I have really given up. These things were never built correctly and never will be. If you would like to see where I am at mentally:
http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/mobile-devices/f/3824/t/19376375.aspx
I have to figure out a way to get an HD7 cheap I guess. I am not dumping another $400 on a phone. I wish someone from Microsoft would read this and see that I love my Zune, love my Zune software, and Love the Windows Phone 7 OS. But all this is being completely ruined for me by the Dell Venue Pro.
If someone from Microsoft is reading this... HOOK ME UP....get me an HD7 at cost! I need another Windows Phone but as I stated, I am not dumping another large pile of money into an almost identical product (minus the crashing and now permanent lock-ups) less than a year after I already forked money out.
MICROSOFT --- PLEASE HELP US. At least pull the Windows Phone license from Dell. They are taking your great operating system and dragging it through the mud. Everyone I know is incorrectly associating these Dell Venue Pro fiasco's with Windows Phone 7.
I havent had any issues with the phone. If you have having a problem with the apps installing, just wipe the phone and reinstall the update. If you still have problems just have Dell send you a new phone, you may have got a bad one. That happens sometimes with every type of phone. Personally, I think that these people complaining that the phone is a "POS", is more user error than anything else. And for them Im going to recommend a non-smart phone, and the idea that a developing website may not be the place for them if they cant even figure out how to work the phone. If you need help wiping the phone back to stock and then updating from there let me know. I can post the steps for you.

That is close to the most insulting thing I have ever read. I smart phone isn't for me. I may not be able to code apps and develope a website, but this isn't rocket science. I have gone through 4. There is no "user error". The phone's have just crashed under normal operation -- app loading or not app loading. There are so many complaints all over the web by tech savy people (go look at the guy over at zdnet) with the exact same problem.
Since you are chalking this up to "user error" , enlighten me as to what you think has been done? As far as a wiping the phone back to stock, it is stock on the Dell screen. I can force a hard reset with the down volume, camera, and power button, but it fails everytime.
As I stated, before you chalk this up as "user error", go do some research on the web. The failure rate of the 16Gb units is astounding. There is not a whole lot of things you can do to these phones to brick them, unless you start tampering with the SD card, jailbreaking or hombrewing the OS, or both. Other than that it is pretty much idiot proof.
Thanks for trying to downplay the situation, but I am sure most people on here are not buying your excuse.
I have two 16GB Venue Pro's, one I use for personal use and one for development. I received my first DVP about 2 months ago, and have had no issues with it. I ordered my second one, and have it for about two weeks with no issues. So between development and personal use I have seen no major issues with these phones. The only problem I have seen here, is your many threads and complaints through out this section. Frankly if you have had 4 phones and they all seem to have problems, the only common denominator there is you sir. XDA is for development and help, not just to flame phones and complain.

I would ignore him, there are obviously good working units but the issues are real, documented and acknowledged and anyone who would dismiss that fact just because he has had a good experience is not worth arguing with. Been through 4 myself so I guess I just dont know how to use the highly advanced features of the Dell

I've had 3 2 have been good. So I know there are issues. The one I am using right now is really good. But I only add the really part when I swapped sd cards. So that is indeed an issue. I assure you I have neither user issues nor flame anyone. Missions statements are true. Your points about complaining and flaming are right on though. At some point threats and complaints fo become overwhelming.
I'm not trying to upset you buddy, I'm just saying if you hate the phone return it. You don't need to keep posting everywhere here about how much you hate this phone.

I'm having 0 problems with the phone itself, and the apps from the marketplace are fine.
My issue is comeing from the actual usable homebrew apps. The ones we actually could use for something like adding ringers and files.
And I do have the 8 gig model with NoDo and am looking into a 32gig class 10 microsd card but it cost me almost 600 for the phone. (UPS charged me 80 bucks for crossing the border)
so for me it's quickly becoming a usability issue, not a phone issue. THe phone works as planned.

I assume these are just chinese knockoff phones. Most seem to model off the s3 but....how are the phones? If there specs don't lie, they seem like very nice pieces of tech for the price! I have my anciet evo 4g because I misplaced my s2 and don't want to pay $600 for a new phone.
If these phones are indeed half way decent, what do I need to look for to obtain a phone compatible with sprint? From what I see nothing advertises wimax, which, I would be slightly sad to lose, but if everything else works on these things just find, I won't mind losing the wimax.
If this topic has been covered, or you have a simple link to address, please just post the link and don't tell me to look harder. I have looked and nothing seemed to fit for a good answer.
Thank you for the help!
Well, I have found this phone so far
http://android-sale.com/star-lt29i-4-5-inch-qhd-1ghz-dual-core-mt6577-5mp-camera-android-phone.html
and it looks like it's the best from what I've poked around....Would this work with Sprint? I will go in there soon and ask their policy on these kinds of phones. It says it supports WCDMA, and I think sprint uses CDMA, and I have no idea how the two related and the internet doesn't seem to help on informing me if sprint could use the device.
Lastly, where would I go for help/tools to root and ROM the device?I assume something like superone click may work, but if I do end up getting one of these phones, I'll ask more about rooting and whatnot in the android section.
Personally, I think they're poor value even if you but one from a maker who isn't lying about the hardware specs.
You're almost certainly not going to be getting any kind of custom development - the sources are most likely not even there to work from and the devices aren't popular enough for it to happen.
You can get something similar when buying a legitimate phone that's popular overseas - development is possible there, but you'd have to look into it.
The lack of support and potential to get something other than puts me off buying such a device - you know how you can buy an SD card that says "32Gb" on it and it's only like 5Mb or whatever ? Think about that - your phone might say it has 32Gb internal memory but you might really have 2Gb or less and you might get 254 or 512 RAM. You might be able to root, might not.
As for network compatibility, just look up what bands Sprint uses, compare, and hope the information is correct.
You might find a "good" clone with good reviews, but you lose the "value" that is development and support. What is that worth in dollars ?
Personally, I'd rather just get a used S2 or something. You can get a used S3 for $400-ish if you're lucky, S2 is $200-ish, I think. I'd go for something like that - something that was popular and had good development and support in its day and likely continues to have some even now. I can't put a cash value on that.

Do you have any suggestions on a good place to get a used s2? Actually, i may get my old s2 back soon.... Which would be lovely and solve my issues. I am curious though. Maybe later this year I will check some of the knockoff phones, just to test them and review them. I see your point, and it was my concern as well. I've always disliked phone companies and their support, and I assumed I could easily get some working rom and root, but tinkering with experimental builds for daily use is enough risk for me already. Adding a phone with a possibility to fail on me at any moment, probably isn't a good idea. These devices have too little real info sadly
Sent from my KFOT using xda app-developers app
The thing is, even if Samsung isn't giving updates, they've still released enough of their source for people to work with to develop custom ROMs. The companies that sell the clone phones and such don't do this, so making a custom ROM isn't possible. Developers tend to like to either work on projects for their own devices, or ones that will get a large audience for their work, so even if there was material to work from, these wouldn't be very attractive targets for development. Most US phone customers still get their phones from their service providers, for better or worse.
Anyway - eBay, Craigslist, or one of hose sites for specifically selling mobile devices. I think you said you're with Sprint? You have to make sure the ESN is good in that case, is the biggest concern. I've never had to do this since I'm with T-Mobile (uses SIM cards, not ESN), but I'm sure there's advice out there on how to avoid being scammed.

Hi all,
I do hope I am asking it in the right place (I didn't want to make a new thread at first, but the closest one I found was locked, so...).
I am willing to buy a Xiaomi MI2S phone. I already know it is only be sold in China (that isn't a problem, actually). I am mostly interested in the 32Gb version, it has really awesome specs.
I have been making a lot of research about this phone and, from what I've seen so far, feedback is positive. That is comforting, to me, but on the same page, I am directly addressing towards people who actually own this phone (or at least have tried it), what are its fails ? Is that phone as perfect as it looks ? Are there some serious flaws/inconveniences with it ?
Second, I also know that the device comes with a specific ROm (MIUI, available in both English and Chinese). I am totally fine with that, as I had a previous positive experience with MIUI roms. But I'd also like to know if, actually, it is possible to customize the phone ? I mean bootloader unlock, root ? Are there some custom roms (well I do mean Cyanogen support, or Cyanogen ports) for Xiaomi MI2S ? These aspects remains a bit unclear, and any piece of information would be much appreciated.
Thanks reading.
i'm willing to buy this phone too. When my good old LG O2x wil die (Can happen every minute ) So i also did some research.
In my langauge (Dutch) There is a lot of information about it. there is a topic on tweakers.net with lots of users who own the device. They are all very happy with it. Here you go... Ok, it's dutch.. But with the use of a translator.. I guess you can get some interesting things out of it. If not.. I could translate some pieces of text for you to english. Just PM me. Not the whole forum of course
About the ROM's. For as far as i know.. There are still no roms without MIUI.. But i'm not suprised if there are roms without MIUI. Maybe in china..
That's all i can help you with atm..
Good luck with researching
miui was modify from cm
and no other rom for mi2s now.
Hello,
I know is my first post here, but i own a MI2 (almost same specs as MI2S, last one using krait processor, better camera) since december this year.
So far nothing to complain about:
- with MIUI V5 battery last 2 full days (wi-fi on, push e-mail on, gps on)
- gps accurate about 2-3 meters
- no problem with gsm/3G signal
- display is very sharp, resistant to scratches, maybe some kind of ACG glass (drop it few times on the concrete, last time i forgot it on the top of my car and i go only plastic frame around display deform)
- sometimes it`s shut off by himself (dunno why, maybe i mess around with secondary recovery partition when it was on MIUI V4)
- no laggy at all (over 72 apps instaled)
- overall a good phone, and i like it
- i use it with the native rom and i get via OTA some updates at 2-3 weeks
sorry for my bad english, hope that helps
buy

According to the people i refered to in my previous post..www.ibuygou.com is the best shop for the Xiaomi Mi2S device, when it comes to shipping. Some people in holland say that it takes only 1 day to ship, others complain that it takes more than 3 weeks. It depends on the amount of devices they have in stock.
The prices are great btw, 300 euro / 400 dollar for the 16gb, 350 euro / 450 dollar for the 32gb variant. And max 20 dollars for import
They also have accesoires like back covers, cases, batteries etc.
How fast is the GPS locking on the Mi2S?
This is really the perfect phone, with the exception it doesnt have LTE (does it?)
I had a mi 2
Its the best smartphone in 4.3" formfactor
Fast, stable
Very good camera
Long lasting akku on (gps wlan, edge)
Out of the box fast and stable no need for custom rom
Beside miui there is a stockandroid rom with english and chinese language
Cons
3g akku drain
Thick and high weight in comparison to s3, htc one
Bad support in fact of defect or something
Sometimes bad reception
Sometimes microphone issues ( mayve only my device)
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
Hi all,
First of all, thanks for the positive feedback.
Well, Ibuygou seems to be a popular (and good) choice as a way to purchase the phone.
I'll consider that. Thanks for the tip.
Well, I still don't have much information about the second part of the question though. I am looking for information in the actual state-of-art on modding the phone : is there some safe ways for bootloader unlock, phone rooting ? Are there custom roms actually for Xiaomi devices, or at least, devs working on that ?
These aspects still remain a bit unclear to me, and i'd like to be enlighten on this.
Thanks in advance.
PS: Well it seems i missed natoleon's answer on that:
miui was modify from cm

There is no developers support due to lack of source code for the kernel as they refuse to follow the GPL laws. Also. Ok real development team has any respect for the MIUI crew as it is well known they take code from others and don't give anything back. For the these reasons this device will not see any development or forums here.
Wayne Tech Nexus
You can find a AOSP for Xiaomi Mi2/Mi2S here. It uses the same kernel though.

It's a spanish forum, but the rom is multilanguage. You can use Google Translator to get an idea of it's said.

I am really looking forward for this phone, I love MIUI
Hi, thanks for your prompt reply....
i heard a rumor that Mi3 is getting launched by august 16th... is that true ? also with full HD & octa core CPU ?
above all it is priced at 320$ !!!
I am very excited & i am kind of lets wait no matter even if the earthquake happens.... what should i do man ???
Hi,
I it's up to you.
The question is, do you want BIG and heavy phone (MI3, 5" screen, fullHD) or relatively small but still veeery fast (Mi2S, 4,3" screen, 720p).
Both phones are so fast that rest of parameters doesn't matter, you don't feel the difference....
I am very happy that MI2S have only 4,3" screen, not 4,5" or bigger because I want "compact" but fast phone with 2GB ram.
So I don't care about MI3.

so i will be placing an order by tomorrow or day after maximum once the chinese boat festival is over....

Maybe it's a stupid question to many, but... I have the chance to order a 32gb korean version of the S4 off Taobao.com, and since I live in China it's quite convenient. The only issue I have is that I refuse to use an android phone without rooting it, and I've been a happy Wanam user for a long time on my S3.
The taobao seller states that 16gb ROMs CANNOT be used for 32gb models AT ALL, but I know better than blindly trusting ignorant Chinese vendors who usually don't know what they are talking about (personal experience).
It does not matter whether it's 9500, 9505 or whatever, this seller has all the models (even 9508 dual sim), I just want to understand if SIZE is a problem or not... Will I be able to just simply root it, and keep using the stock ROM at least? Or maybe I'll even be able to install ANY 16gb ROM of my choice? Or none of the above???
Thanks!
P.S. I searched the S4 forums but found no reference at all to this question...

As long as you're flashing a i9505 ROM to an i9505-like(aka U.S. Carriers variants) device, and an i9500 ROM to an i9500-like device, you'll be just fine. Don't try to flash unlike devices(i.e. i9505 to i9500) though. Best case scenario, the flash will fail. Worst case, you'll brick the device.
Internal storage capacity has never, to my knowledge, had anything to do with what you could or could not flash.

That would be my same guess, although the seller was adamant to the fact that it won't absolutely work (he even declared that he tried himself...). Though I agree with you, I'll wait for some concrete proof, when 32 and 64 gb versions will be more widely available, or at least until someone comes out with a first-person experience of this.
Anyway, thanks

I don't want to call the guy out... but that seller has some very funny ideas; likely he was trying to flash unlike devices. If you want further feedback, I'd suggest posting this question over in the AT&T forums since the 32gb is more widely released. Further, from my past experiences, I've successfully flashed ROMs intended for the Developer Edition(64gb) of the HTC One onto my 32gb.
Let's say, hypothetically, he's correct--the developers who create the ROMs would be required to, perhaps not by forum rules but more so out of "I'm not responsible if you do this," declare their ROMs only usable by certain phones with certain storage capacities?
I will applaud you for taking your time, reading, and doing research before jumping into the fray. Is this your first phone you've rooted?

Not at all, I rooted my first HTC Legend years ago, then my current S3,and so on. Happy user of Wanamlite ROM on my current S3 at the moment. Anyway, I guess our idea is correct. Not to belittle the vendor's experience, but in MY experience PRC people can be quite often very ignorant, or appear so at the very least, and declare the impossibility of an action or a request just to avoid any sort of responsibility in case the crap hits the fan... Think it as a sort of "ultimate disclaimer": I told you not to do it, so if you try and break it it's your problem.
After saying all this, I guess I'm in no rush since my S3 is still working like a charm after more than one year, I'm just exploring the S4 alley since I bough a SUPERCOOL Nolan bluetooth helmet for my bike, I use 2 sim cards at the same time (1 personal=S3, 1 work=HTClegend) and the HTC Legend's bluetooth is sort of fried So I was looking for a way to upgrade things.
I'll follow your suggestion and try to post in the AT&T section as well.
Thanks!
