Hi, so my question is, all the tutorials of installing cwm etc (like u8800 ultimate guide) are done and meant for the official overseas version, is the latest version good to be used with the tutorials meant for overses, or will i run into problems? i understand that these versions are like the same just with a few fixes

i m using latest official gb .i didn't faced many issues except sd card problem.it will not recognise sd sometimes then we we have to reinsert
it again to work.

Wich version are you using, i tried to update to froyo, but only seem to get version I5800BOJH1 to work (other versions hanged)

I'm using I5800XXJP9 with no problems, was using JPA but lagged horribly. Only thing I'm not happy with is that i cant seem to be able to root my phone with this firmware

I have followed instruction in article on this forum and I have flashed JP8 and then JP9. And no problem. Pls read carrefully isntructions for i5801 and don't worry.
Hello everybody...
When i got the pjone i updated to the latest official update (28.12.11), I was having some problems so i downgraded using this tutorial http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1420728, and than i found out about oxygen rom, and wanted to flash it.
Downloaded the lates version for huawei ideos x5 (2.3.2), wiped cache and flashed it using CWM, but got stuck on the Oxygen logo. I installed 2.2.2 again and than i read here that wiping everything should solve the problem, so i tried again, but this time wiped everything before flashing but this time it didnt even get to the oxygen logo?
Does anyone knows what might be the problem?
Go to official 2.2. Then install oxygen.

Which recovery are you using? You must use genos 4.0.05 or stockwells 5.0.2.6.
5.0.2.7 from geno and 5.5.0.4 from Blefish wont work with 2.2 because they are made for 2.3
i was using blefish 5.5.0.4, noob mistake i guess. i will try with new recovery.

Do you really offer using this oxygen rom to a miui rom user? Are there too many advantages at this rom?
Yann, it worked lile a charm, thank you very much. The rom is running smoothly.
I never used any other custom rom, but comared to the official roms this one is a lot smoother and less buggy.

only one more question... when i go to systems it says i only have 300 something of ram, shouldnt it be 512?
I think it depends how many apps you have installed in phone memory, move some apps to SD and check if get more ram free.
I think that some RAM is reserved for system and GPU. This is why it only showes 300MB
Hi everyone,
For a reason unknown to me some of the newer roms don't work properly on my u8800 smartphone. I can install and run them but the rom doesn't show battery percentage / level. Can somebody tell me what my phone is missing or what's outdated on it?
Also a recommendation for a CWM version would be highly appreciated (there's a lot to chose from).

Did you install official 2.3.5 before you tried them? If not, there is your reason. Install beta 1 or 2, so your bootloader will stay unlocked. Both recoveries for .35 kernel are good. 5.0.2.7 and 5.5.0.4.

Yes I upgraded to the official 2.3.5 (and everything was working just fine); but after doing so (following the guide and installing the newest version of CWM) I got errors trying to install ROMs. I can't remember the specific error; something with incompatibility ~ I couldn't install any custom rom said CWM.
Could you perhaps provide me a few links so I can try it again? :]
Other thing is can think is that you install u8800pro rom. Or you have pro and you installed u8800 rom. Might sound stupid but armeijan cant think anything else. If figure something else, i'll post here.

First of all sorry for the noob question, because I'm really a newbie in this kind of mod.
Ok let's get to the problem. My Ideos X5 is running on Froyo,and wanna upgrade it to official GB stock roms.
After reading and searching in this web, I knew that some users found trouble after flashed it with the stock(can't go to pink screen, can't root, can't instal CWM, and the worst is it bricked their phone etc).
the reason why i'm gonna ugrade to official GB instead of straight to instal custom rom is some rom requirements need my phone to be upgraded into official GB. But then I've found many kinds of stock roms in the web such as B526, B138, B528, B16. since this situatian has turned my will to upgrade my phone, I just wanna know what is the most stable and safest official gingerbread rom for Ideos X5 out there, that won't brick my phone of course.thanks for the responds/advices

It is very difficult to brick your phone, I have to tell you, if it's possible.
I installed dozens of ROMs, some very good, some others plain bad, and my phone still works perfectly.
Today I am using Dzo's excellent ICS Aurora 2.11a which makes my friends envy my phone and has none of the GB bugs.
So, my advice is try some ROMS and find for your self which suits you best.

At the moment, you could try EZET's cyanogen custom rom if still on Froyo. It is cm7.2 based which is gingerbread 2.3.7 and it is very good. Runs fast and is very smooth. AFAIK everything works now, even tethering.
Otherwise you should upgrade to official gingerbread first if you want to get the ICS based roms that are here (like Aurora) or are in the works. I would use b526 as it is the last version to be able to root easily using superoneclick root and then install custom recovery and custom roms.
Most of the phone brickings with the official update happened because of custom partitions being installed and updating using the beta gingerbread release, you should be fine to update safely if your phone is still on official froyo.

I agree 100% on that, all phone companies makes unstable roms, and custom roms ALWAYS BETTER.

I believe it is difficult to root B528. Of the two, I suggest you use B526

It's very easy to root B528. You need B528_root.rar from somewhere in forums. Try search general section.

Do you need Gingerbread specifically? The Aurora ICS ROM is already stable and there are no major bugs - sometimes the mobile internet connection does not work until the next restart, but this problem already existed on Gingerbread too. Device encryption does not work either.
The ICS ROM one of the fastest ROMs for this device, I see no reason to install an older version on purpose.
Once again the process:
1) Install a official huawei gingerbread ROM, this is done to update the kernel. You need this for the newer ROMs. This is done by putting a update file onto your sd-card (into the dload folder), instructions are provided by huawei.
The first step simply is done to update the kernel, this happens automatically. Be careful though, you want to use a specific file and not the newest version from huawei as this complicates things. If you do not know which file to use I am happy to provide you with a link.
2) Start the phone when the update is finished. Follow the setup, do not configure a wireless connection, google account or anything else. When you are at the homescreen, attach the device to your computer and remove the dload folder, the update is already done. This step is important.
3) Now you install a recovery program that manages your ROMs (make backups, delete ROM, install new ROM etc.). You use this here, instructions are included and should be easy to follow: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1377390
4) Try to start the recovery mode and see if you can move up and down with the volume buttons (at the menu). Now you have the updated kernel and a working recovery program, that is all you need.
5) Download the zip-file of the ROM you want to use (I suggested ICS earlier) and copy it onto the sd-card. Within recovery mode you can now select the zip-file (do not extract it!) to install the new ROM. Before you do that, you select to wipe data, cache and under advanced the dalvik cache. This is important.
Now you have to wait quite a while when the phone starts for the first time with the new ROM. Just wait a few minutes and do not interrupt this. You will be greeted with the setup screen of your new ROM and can now configure wireless, google account etc.

You do not need to do that, the ICS Aurora comes pre-rooted and the other custom ROMs come prerooted too - just read their description.

i had CM 11 for a while but recently the bugs get worse then less. In the moment i cant make any call for example.
I tried Sammys 4.3, but the experience was very bad too. Pretty buggy, some apps wont work...and slow like hell.
So im thinking of going back to the latest 4.1.2 sammy rom.
I lost a bit the overview about efs and all this stuff.
Is there any problem to expect doing this? What was the latest or best version of 4.1.2?

Your EFS folder version can normally be determined by what modem you have installed.
If you have flashed stock 4.3 it would more than likely be EFS v2
I think you should be ok to just flash a stock rom in odin but just let someone confirm this or just have a quick search. If you want to make sure it shows as official in download mode, then use triangle away to sort that

I always had the cwm versions of wanam or Justarch
I think all the latest 4.1.2 had EFS2. What about bootloader. Are there anymore problems to expect?

These roms are pure stock, i know because i build them. the lite version had all the bloatware taken out.
Ofcourse your are free to choose the ROM you trust. Just take a look in the treads of the ROM of your liking.

I've run Samsungs 4.3, CM11 and then downgraded to Samsung 4.1.2 MG4 (from Sammobile), just fine, no IMEI issues at all.
