hey ya'll, my nexus just arrived today (im at work), im going to get the tmobile prepaid. what is the quickest way to get set up with the micro sim, order it online from tmobile? or will a tmobile store give me one if i go in? also walmart? i pretty much just want to use it by tonight, any help would be greatly appreciated. ( i did search the forums for an answer first but didnt find an exact answer, so sorry if i missed it)
You can find YouTube videos on how to manually use a scissor to cut a regular Sim to a micro Sim. You can go to a t mobile store or Walmart and get one. They might give one for free. (I went into a t mobile store near my house and when I asked if I can get one for free, they laughed at me and they said it costs $20. I have heard folks getting one for free in t mobile stores. I was so disappointed.)

This is what I used to chop my existing one.
Also I think they are ~$6-7 from tmobile.com (I found a deal where they were shipping free a few weeks back and jumped and micro and mini, why not?)
Since I am a tmobile customer, I just went to the store and they gave me one for free. They transferred my number to the new sim and I was out the door in 5 minutes.
Sv: quickest way to a micro sim
Same with me they transferred to a micro SIM for free... when I fist got the Nexus 4 was the very first batch and the store people wanted to know everything about it... can't believe it gas been 2 months...

Hey Sorry if this Question is somewhere else if it is please point me in the direction because ive been looking through all the threads and cant find these two things out.
I Plan on upgrading to this from my Gnex when it comes out but two Questions i need to know. The first thing is when i got My Gnex i was able to put my T mobile Sim card right in, does this Phone have micro or nano sim where ill have to get a new sim card or will my same Sim card work like it did with the Gnex
Second question is that The Wireless charging is one of the coolest new features for me and i wanted to know if anybody has seen anything online on whether the Wireless charging dock comes with the phone or if id have to buy it separately for alot of extra money??
Thanks In advance and Greatly Appreciated
1 micro sim but T-Mobile has micro sims available already since they support the iPhone 4S now days I know since that's what I'm using right now after selling my GS3 today .. I simply walked into the store and they provided me one for free since I'm currently on their network ..
2) Not in the box at least it's not listed on the google play store as it would come with it ...

Thanks Really appreciate it. Did Tmobile make you extend your contract or anything like that when you got new sim card? I know companies like to pull stuff like that sometimes
Nope ! They might try to sell it to you since I was told by the store manager how some stores try to make you pay (but not give you a receipt for it ) when they are free for existing plan holders meaning if you have an active plan (even a prepaid one) they have to provide you with one free of charge .. He even went on as far as telling how he had to fire a dude a few months ago because he was making a little money on the side for selling SIMs 25 dollars a pop to ppl who simply needed a simple reboot to fix their phones but he would convince them that they needed a new one ... Lets face most ppl don't really know their phones at all

I activated two prepaid accounts about a year ago and the Sim Cards were free. :good:
I hope that my New Nexus 4 will be here tomorrow. I plan on switching out my Standard SIM to the Micro SIM for the Nexus 4, but I won't have the phone with me yet. Will the TMobile Store need the new phone with them in the store before they could switch out my sim?
No. Just tell them you need a micro sim

Was it a free upgrade to the Micro SIM? There are also rumors that there are two types of SIM cards now: non-ISIS T-Mobile SIM card and a ISIS T-Mobile SIM card. I heard that the ISIS T Mobile SIM card takes support off for Google Wallet.
I just cut my standard SIM to micro.
If you have been a customer with Tmo for awhile, they will give you the new Sim for free. Otherwise, it is a ~$10 charge. No need to take the phone with you, just go to the store and ask for a micro-sim. Then, just activate the sim once you get your phone via the web (website listed on the new card).
I activated my micro-sim online and it was active almost immediately as opposed to when I have called and spoke to a CSR (~ 2 hrs).

One time my SIM card wasn't functioning properly and didn't detect my phone # and all that. I called 611 and they offered a free SIM card replacement but I had to get it from a store. Went to like 4-5 different T-Mobile stores even though the person on the phone said that the store closest to me had them in stock and when I went there the person said that they didn't have any in stock. It was so frustrating getting a replacement that I felt that I was being lied to in my face about them not having SIM cards.
Regardless of that, my SIM card works fine as it is now. Just cutted my standard SIM card (from a few years back) into a micro-sim and works fine on the N4.
$10 is still a rip off for a SIM card, they can't be that much to produce -_-
I went in yesterday to a T-mobile store and they gave me and activated the micro sim for free he just asked for my ID
You can purchase a Micro-SIM off of T-Mobile's site for $0.99 + tax (free shipping). That's what I did and then I just activated it online once my Nexus 4 arrived.
They should be able to cut your existing sim card. They have Sim cutters which will turn it into micro. If you do get a new sim, do not get the Isis ready one. It won't work with Google wallet.

I previously had a normal sized card in Tmob on my Gnex. I usually got H speeds on it. Used an HTC one S (cut the sim) and almost always had H showing on the phone. Today I received my N4, its been perfect but now most of the time its 3G or very low reception. Is it the phone? or can it be the Sim card that I cut?
Thanks

I would think it might just be damage to the sim card from being cut and then taken in and out of different phones. Just get a micro some from T-Mobile. I called them and only paid 1.04 with tax and it was free over night shipping too. Put the next sim in my N4 and called customer server and they had it running in a matter of minutes.

I cut it with scissors, and it worked fine on a One S. Just to be sure the Tmob store gave me one for free. I still get very low speeds tho.
Nexus 4 16GB is about $250 from Google Play. Everywhere else without a contract it is more than $300? Am I missing something? Does the one bought from Google Play work at all the major carriers (AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon, and the small places like MetroPCS, etc?)
The price drop is recent and T-Mobile at least was trying to gain capital by over pricing the phone. The Play Store version is the exact same as the T-Mobile minus some coding that makes it be seen as a T-Mobile device. It is already unlocked. The one I have was bought from a guy that got it from a store. It works with any SIM I put in. By yours from the Play Store, don't get ripped off!

There is zero difference between the T-Mobile Nexus 4 and Play Store Nexus 4. The software and hardware is exactly the same.
Yup just got one from the Google website Cut down the SIM card, put it in and everything work.
Tmobile still want about $435 fire one.
☞Sent from here☜
Also until the price drop it wasn't that much more. $350 vs $428. That's a $78 difference. Or $3.25 a month to make 24 monthly payments on it instead of buying it out right.
Go to any rent to own store and you're paying almost 2x retail.
Now at $250 you would be silly to buy it from T-Mobile. Expect a price change soon, especially when the N5 comes close to launch.

Thank you for all the replies. I'm going to get two of the Nexus 4 and the $30 pre-paid deal with T-Mobile. Some folks said they had trouble activating a Nexus 4 with that deal. Anyone had similar issues?

The phone you are using doesn't matter. There were a large batch of sims a long time ago that had trouble activating with that plan online (and you are suppose to only be able to activate the plan online). But generally it is not an issue. Worst case is you have to spend time on the phone with T-Mobile CSR. Just make sure you get a SIM activation kit, not just a "SIM".
Just a heads up to all who are purchasing the Nexus 6. It uses a Nano SIM card. The Nexus 4 and Nexus 5 use Micro SIM cards.
Get in touch with your carrier to have a Nano SIM on hand. I have mine from T-Mobile US ready, and can easily switch my micro SIM to nano SIM on the T-Mo US portal.

Anyone know if AT&T will give me a nano sim card without a device to use it in (to have on hand before my Nexus 6 gets here).
Will they have to activate it and thus deactivate the sim card in my Nexus 5 or can I call and have it activated once I'm ready? Come to think of it, is it possible to have both activated at the same time so I can switch between the two devices as necessary (while waiting for a case)?
Thanks!

Unless you get the phone from the carrier your going to have to go to a store and get a new sim, which they might charge you for, and have it activated. You won't be able to have both active with the same line but there are adapters that let you put a nano sim into a phone that uses micro sims.
You can turn the micro SIM into a nano by cutting the plastic around the gold contacts. If you don't trust yourself to do it manually, there are cheap cutting tools online specifically made for it.

Thank you guys - I just bought a Nano to Micro adapter on Amazon just in case. I won't take my Nexus 6 to work if I don't have a case for it and the cases may be a little delayed after the phone is released...so I'll want to be able to swap between my Nexus 5 and 6 for the first week or two.
Got at least 30 notifications from pushbullet.. but ordered nothing... and where is the white 64GB!!!!

I just cancelled my order on Amazon after reading that someone was able to walk into AT&T without their phone and request a nano sim. AT&T gave them an adapter as well. Free sounds much better than $6!
Why go to the effort of trimming when you can just walk in and get one or call and order a nano SIM and adapter from your carrier? Do some carriers charge for them?

I needed a nano sim when I got my last phone. I went to the AT&T store before my phone arrived and they wouldn't give me one. They told me it was a new policy and that I had to have my new phone with me. I was so pissed.
I went home and did an online chat with AT&T reps and gave them a sad story and they eventually agreed to ship one out with 2-day shipping.

Takes less time: no need to drive to a store and deal with salesmen.
For t-mobile, sometimes they will charge you and sometimes they won't for getting a new sized sim. You could get those slickdeals for t-mobile sims for 1 cent and activate one of those over the phone. They just need to verify your account and need the sim number.

A phone call is pretty quick, though.
I have a Premier business account with AT&T, maybe that's why it's so much smoother for me than what others are saying.
I always walk into my local AT&T store if I need a different size SIM card no questions asked no charge, done.
Ordered a couple from T-Mobile a few weeks ago. $2.12. For 2 of them. ?
My Att store doesn't care they will give you a Sim no questions asked for free, they guy have me 3 once because I said I wanted to have a spare one.

The nano SIM is smaller -- how is that going to work?
So my phone arrives today but I have a Note 4 which doesn't have a nano. Will I be able to just walk into an AT&T store to get a sim without the phone or will they want me to have the phone with me?

You can walk into an AT&T store and get one but you'll have to call customer support to get it activated. At least that's how I did it when I got my Z3.
Ah ok. That's fine. I just rather not have to carry around two phones so I can get a sim
Sent from my Note 4
I called them to send me an unactivated sim card, which they have done for me before, but they told me they needed an IMEI number in order to ship me out one. So i actually went ahead and printed out a template to cut down my current micro sim so i don't even have to go see them when the phone comes in. Template link below if you're interested.

If you walk into the store with your new phone and old SIM they will replace and activate the SIM right then and there. You might have to wait a bit to be escorted to one of those tables after being greeted at the door, but when you're done, you will walk out with a fully functional phone.
I called AT&T and they overnighted me the nano SIM card. They asked for the IMEI number but had no issues when I told them I had yet to receive the phone so could not provide the information.
Ah ok. Let me try that
Steve, I don't want to carry both phones and / or be without service. Want to just have the card already

You can also order a sim cutter off Amazon and cut the sim down when your phone arrives.
Ah I didn't want to do that. why spend money if I can get for free I got a Sim during lunch. I was told that I need a code that will activate the Sim which is sent over sms. I'll have to figure that one out
Ended up using Hangouts Dialer to call over Wifi and got the sim card activated. Worked like a charm.
I did also go to a store but there were at least 4 people ahead of me and I didn't want to wait. I made the right choice
