[Q] Bootanimation bootloop - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I am very new to Nexus 7 but experienced in flashing ROMs (as a user been playing with ROMs on my Nexus S).
Now I just got into a bootanimation bootloop and the device won't turn up and I can only see CM logo. That's not a problem as I have CWM and did backup.
With Nexus S it was easy to hard restart the device (take out battery) but how would one do it with Nexus 7? I think that taking out battery is a bit complex and I just don't want to wait till the device is out of energy...
Is there any trick Nexus 7 user can use to hard reset the device?
Hope the question is understandable and not that much noobish. Anyway hopefully someone could advice me... thanks guys

Hold the power button.
Hold the power button for about 10sec. this will turn off the nexus7 instantly. Than you can press three buttons (power, volume up & down) together to turn it on into bootloader mode. Use volume key to navigate and power button to select..

Disconnecting the battery is very easy, but maybe if you just keep holding power button, or with volume down, or up for 20 secs or so it will reset.
I've flashed loads of ROMs, kernels etc now, and I've not been in that position yet, unlike with my galaxy s1. That thing used to boot loop if you so much as looked at it the wrong way lol
I shouldn't have said that. Tempting fate.
Edit: beaten to it.....

Thank you very much for advice!!! I thought there must be something else than just taking out batter! Thank you once more!

Concerns about flashing ROMs - what happens if bootloop?

Sorry stupid question but the only thing I am concerned about ist the unremoveable battery.. what happens if you get an bootloop after flashing a ROM? Is there something like a reset button? do I have to use a screwdriver? Do I have to wait till battery drains completely?

If it bootloops you wipe and reflash!
Try holding the power button on your Nexus 7. I hope that answer your question.

The One X has a function where holding the power button for 10 seconds or so performs a reboot. I'd imagine a similar system will be in place here

He asks how can he get back to the recovery.
I think long press on the power, anyway, you can use adb
Hold the power button to reboot, once the screen goes off, hold the volume keys and it will boot recovery/bootloader.
You can still input ADB commands during a bootloop, just type "adb reboot recovery" and you should be fine.
Hold down power button for 10 seconds, google thinks about the hacking community when it makes irremovable batteries.
Then 3 button combo into bootloader then choose recovery.
*if its anything like Nexus 7's bootloader*
Thanks a lot too all of us.. sometimes a solution can be so easy Tried that thing with holding before but I think I held the button not long enough..

Custom roms and non-removable battery

So this phone has a non removable battery....
A few times now I have seen the need to do a battery pull when you're installing recovery or something goes wrong with a rom install....esp when you get into a bootloop....how will this play out on a phone where you can't?

As it's been stated countless times, either a combination of button presses, or holding down the power button for a long period will cut off the power. The exact method varies by phone though
Check the HTC One X forum. Fixed battery, and no problem whatsoever with taking care of freeze ups or lock ups. Just hold the power Key & Volume - keys for like 10 seconds, and it reboots.

i smell a bad future for me and this phone then. my volume keys are compeltly worn out on my phone right now, i can barly get to safeboot(power+volDown) as it is much less if any soft reset to break a freeze needs the buttons x.x
luckly this will be my second phone and ive found a way to nearly use every button from the screen already, still feels bad.
Besides after root you can install apps to reboot right into recovery mode or fast boot if you are a flashoholic like me to preserve volume keys
I saw a video about the phone that stated that holding down the power button for 10 seconds will turn the phone off. It's something they have to build into something that doesn't have a removable battery, not just for users but for them as well.
Same thing as a desktop, or laptop, or tablet, or any other phone that locks up. Hold the power button. It's a hardware-level thing, it works regardless of what state the device is in.

This. My HTC One X can do this anywhere - even fastboot and recovery. It's hardcoded to the button logic.
M.
It's the new Nexus, man! Hopefully you won't be putting as many ROMs on this as you would with other mobile devices.
I started doing it on my Galaxy Nexus a while ago and then I ended up going back to stock because it was just so good and I found I never needed a custom ROM on it. My HTC Desire on the other hand... well, let's just say that that thing has had a real beating with me flashing new ROMs on it almost every day! Haha!
On my Xperia T you must keep down the power button and volume up for five seconds, which forces the phone to shut down. Maybe it's the same?

[Q] How to hard reset without removable battery?

Hi, I just picked up this awesome device (T-Mobil D801) and am getting ready to flash some of the newly arrived ROMs. I come from a Galaxy Nexus, which has a removable battery. Many times when flashing ROMs on the GNex the phone would not boot and would freeze--my only remedy was to remove the battery and replace, then reboot.
How does one recover from a similar situation with the G2 if the battery cannot be removed? Thanks in advance for your help.
Either hold power or power+volume down

The way is Hold down power+ vol down, after LG logo appears let go of both buttons and press them again. U will be presented with hard reset option, confirm it with pressing power button

If the phone is frozen the first thing you want to do is turn the phone completely off. To do this you hold the power down for approx 15 seconds. At that point it should boot. There are a few different button combos you can use at this point.

I don't think you really mean hard reset. You just mean power down and turn back on. To me, hard reset is deleting everything ala factory reset.
The other guys have it nailed on the head. Just hold down the power button for a long time until it turns off. Same deal with most non-removable battery devices. iPhones are probably the same, I know the Nexus 7s are, etc. Just hold it down forever.

Caution: Factory Reset Warning

Im just opening this thread to let any new Galaxy S5 owners know to be very careful when trying to do a Hard Reboot by holding all the buttons down for 10 seconds (volume up and down, power key, and home key). This is known to cause a factory reset to occur upon device restart. Im currently looking into a solution to doing a reboot for an unresponsive device with out a battery pull, but for now a battery pull is the best solution.
Thanks,
Chris
