[Q] camera stuck and then reboots - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all, currently I'm using the nexus 4 and for the past few days I've been taking lots of pics and I encountered this problem so wanna ask if anyone faced this problem or it's only me. So this is what happened.
I was taking photo of the subject vertically and tapped to focus, after that I noticed something and tilted the phone horizontally immediately and the camera just froze and the phone rebooted.
Please comment guys!

I had this issue.
You can either RMA the device or keep using the camera to determine if the situation gets worse or not. I don't know if it's hardware or software related.
I requested an RMA for my device, if you're wondering. I've taken less photos, but I also don't get the shutter being stuck anymore.

[Q] Camera crashing?

Whenever I open up my camera app it will work once or twice and then crash. Only fixed by a reboot and then like i said it will only work a few times. Has any one else experienced this, or am I just lucky?
My camera has been having issues as well. Mine randomly will only display a black screen and will not do anything. I have read that its a shutter issue but my shutter is not stuck. Others have said that the geotagging causes this "black screen" issue and turning it off and rebooting will fix it but that has no effect either. factory resets, data wipes, etc does nothing to fix this. This has been going on randomly for a few months now so I am stummped. Verizon told me that update they pushed a few months ago would fix it but apparently that was useless info too. Anyone have any other options or possible fixes???
Same issue here

Hopefully Verizon and moto will do what they normally do and get a list of all the bugs, then push out an update for them. It's starting to irritate me.
My camera app hasn't crashed any, but I do randomly get blank photos since upgrading. Noticed a couple of plain black ones in my gallery last night that weren't blank in the camera review...

After taking a picture, problem

does anyone have the problem after taking a picture where you go to view the pic you just took and it just goes to a black screen, no buttons work except back.
yea happens to me sometimes. minor annoyance. just wish the phone would stop deleting my photos.

I also have some issue with the camera. I just bought the Nexus S yesterday, and while fiddling with it I noticed that after deleting the last pic on the phone, it wouldnt go back to camera again. It just shows a blackish screen only. I never had that issue with my Nexus One camera. I hope they'll fix this minor annoyance soon.

[Q] Does anyone experience this issue on galaxy s4's camera?

I have used my galaxy s4 normally for 10 days until today its camera appears an issue. This afternoon, when i took picture, my camera's part at the back suddenly vibrate (not notification's vibrate for message, call etc..) and the screen (in camera mode) became wavy. It appears for 3-5 seconds then it became normal and i coule take photos again. However, it still happened for 5 more times. So i dont know whether it is because of hardware problem or software problem. is there anyone experience this problem please help answer me because nobody at my place experience this problem. Sorry for my bad English !
Never heard of such a thing before. Maybe it's your camera shutter playing up and constantly opening and closing, causing the vibration and wavy screen.

I brought it back to Samsung service here and they have never heard of this issue before.
Mine also vibrates but usually when its focusing from far away to extreme close up. It must be the focus mechanism.

when yours vibrate, does the phone's screen become wavy? and how long does it take for the vibration?
I have this same problem only on my Galaxy S2 (sprint Epic Touch) The phone will start making a buzzing sound and the screen will go wavy. If I tap on the screen to ask it to focus the buzz stops. However intermittently, even though I do not see the wavy screen or hear the buzzing I go back and look at the pictures I took and I see a couple of them with wavy images.
I have a maintenance contract on my phone so I had it replaced by spring and have the same problem on the replacement phone.
I am disheartened to find the problem still exists on the S4. I like Samsung but I have just had too many issues with the phone, (data shutting off, not receiving texts etc. and have to reboot phone to recover, the phone restarting itself ....) I was hoping they cleared things up in the later models.

so did they say it was because of hardware or software issue?
This happened to me twice or may be 3 times since I purchased S4 i9500 in April.
Phone vibrates and screen become wavy for a second or two. That's it.
It's not regular and I was not able to produce it later, so I didn't gave it much thought.
It could be software because this only happens when I close camera.

SC-02H front camera problem after root

Good day guys, I just got root my S7 edge SC-02H. unfortunately after root i noticed the everytime i took a selfie for 1-5 times the first picture is fine but after 2-5 times i noticed there's a violet color around my photo. then after 5x times of selfies the next photo it turns to black and red and it seems negative color. I read some post and like others they encountered like mine i think their phone is not rooted.
They said just restart the phone then it will back to normal. i did it and it works, but after restart the phone but it keeps happening again. after 1 black and red photo i am not be able to shoot normal again. this happening on my front camera but when i tried to used 3rd party apps i never encounter the problem. anyone know how to fix this?

Use of Camera App overhearts and shuts down the phone

Hi,
I sent an Essential Phone to my mom oversea, and her phone has been having this issue where when she uses the the camera app, phone heats up, freezes, and eventually shuts down. It has the latest version installed (OPM1.180104.166). Has anyone else experienced this issue? If you know a fix, please share.
Thank you

It's weird. I just came from my vacation, which i used the essential to take photos and gps. And never afront any of this issues.. never heat up or freeze.
I'm on the same May update and used my camera extensively the last two days w/o any issues or overheats.
What's the signal like where she's using the phone? I'm wondering if the issue might be compounded by a weak signal area, especially if you're using an app that continuously backs up your photos to the cloud.
She should factory reset the phone and choose the fresh start option when setting up the phone again to verify that there isn't a software problem.
There are hardware problems with some Essential Phones that causes them to overheat and become unstable which leads to the phone freezing, rebooting or shutting down. The issue seems to be rare but it has been reported by some owners.
If the factory reset doesn't fix the issue it's almost certainly a hardware issue.
