Hello Everyone,
I am a new user to android world. Just purchased Samsung galaxy y duos lite a month before. I just wanted to know how I could root my android device. and once if I root it will I be able to get the manufacture warranty back by unrooting.?
And also I wanted to know as to where I could get the complete tutorial for rooting and what software I would require to backup by earlier mobile firmware for security?
Waiting for reply.. and thanks for help in advance..
Well, I would say you can use cwm of galaxy y duos as partitions must be same.. but if you can.. install terminal emulator app and type mount and post O/p..

Made a Cyanogen Version for this theme - Click Here

The theme should only work on SENSE based ROM's. Don't put silly posts saying it's not working because you're using a different ROM. And it's put in the HTC Desire section because it's only supposed to work with the HTC Desire. You can try it with other phones using different ROM's but I take no responsibility for anything that goes wrong.
The Modded Widgets work on ANY rooted HDPI device.
This is not a Metamorph.
If you have any questions ask around, there are always answers to everything, if you still can't find the answer only at last resort can you message me. If you ask me something silly or that has been already answered I WILL NOT REPLY.

You created two additional partitions ext4 and swap or only ext4?
I didn't know that stock kernel support ext4. I'm using ext2 on stock kernel (arc s, 587 fw).
What kernel are you using?

Don't know as I use stock kernel.
Check if there is /sd-ext folder in root. If kernel is done properly it should be there. (on stock I'm using script to create it after boot.)
Then use a2sd script. Script should move app and app-private to sd-ext partition and link it into data. I don't recommend moving dalvik cache. Script goes into /system/etc/init.d folder.
You can not use link2sd and a2sd at the same time!

Yes, second partition on your sd card is mapped as sd-ext.
It must be Linux ext type and primary so symbolic linking works.
I'm using ext2 as it's fastest and a2sd don't need journaling.

How to transfer data/data to sd-ext?
cause my internal memory is getting low. haha
any tried using directory bind? but i think it will not solve the problem, cause it only transfer from internal SD to external SD
how about titanium backup pro?
the data2sd feature " move app data to sd "
i tried it, i creat a folder "app" on /sd-ext, and tried move app data to SD, but it shows "not enough space on filesystem at: /sd-ext"
i have an ext4 partition on my SD card, i also have Link2SD, does it makes the conflict?
In links2sd just click on an app and tap create link

I'm in Merruk Kernel 2.0, it supports ext4 format. I have 2 partitions, FAT32 and ext4, and also i can use link to SD properly, all my apps are linked. I just want to transfer/link the data of the other remaining apps completely, but Link2SD can't do this, so i've searched the internet and found that TBP can do this, but this error comes out " not enough blah blah~"

To make it very short: I have an app that will not run on a rootet device. I want to hide the Super User binary for that app - and only that app.
Is there an app that will hide the SU binary for a selection of apps without having to make a temporary unroot in Super User?

What you need is OTA RootKeeper. I use this app also, since tv2go application from my tv provider does not work with rooted phones.

This app will scan for root access and not open a media player if root access is found. I want to hide root from the app without having to make a temporary unroot.
The app is for a danish TV streaming service. The developer claims that they cannot secure the rights on rootet devices.

Did you even read my reply? I have had same problems with Slovenian TV provider, OTA RootKeeper helped me. It disable you root for the time you must have it off. So app will recognize your phone as non rooted phone.
How about to use Tasker or something to run shell
su -c busybox mount -o rw,remount /system
su -c mv /system/xbin/su /system/xbin/sx
sx -c mv /system/app/Superuser.apk /system/app/Superuserr.apk
sx -c busybox mount -o ro,remount /system
when you open app?

I did read your reply.
My question however, is about a method to hide root access from this certain app, so to avoid having to make a temporary unroot.
If such a thing exist.
With OTA RootKeeper it works but it is on a basis of temporary unroot.
Thanks for your post anyway.
