Could you tell us which rom you are running?
I think you could be interested in the solution from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1901424
Or:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=798380
The first one illustrates how to add a font without manipulating your fallback fond. I don't know if this method can be used on the version of android you are running.
You can download the attatchment of the second post which is a font that should render good.
Just extract the file, copy it to your sd and use a Root Explorer of your choosing to first mount the /system as r/w, then copy it to /system/fonts/ replacing the previous one. Then you must change the permissions of that file to the same value as the other fonts (in most Explorers it's by long pressing the file and selecting pemissions). Then mount it back as r/o. Reboot and it should work.
It you want to use the method of the first link, just rename the fond of the second one to an appropriate name.

And if you want your whole rom to be in telugu, I can help you to translate all the strings and get them in CyanogenMod. (would be quite some work)
I also found this:
http://www.2shared.com/complete/qVvNjvis/Gautami.html
It's the default fond that comes with Windows.
The one I attatched is one from the ttf-indic-fonts package from Debian. Just rename the .txt to .ttf
Be carefull when replacing the fallback ttf with these two as they only give the specific characters.
Hi I'm using stock ROM ( I think ) , i didn't flash any other ROMs into my phone. I just rooted my phone with superone click. And i installed Gauthami.ttf which is a Telugu font. No problem in Firefox browser but the characters are not decoding in Google Translator and SMS. I'm getting only boxes. There is no fallback xml fies in /system/etc/ ( i tried with root explorer).
Edit: I replaced DroidSans.ttf with Gauthami.ttf but i didn't do with fallback.ttf.

Hey guys, i've noticed that on the FlyX ROM asian languages are not displayed as the language but just as boxes. I was wondering if there is an .apk that can load asian languages on, specifically korean and japanese. This is not for input! this is so I can actually read it. Any suggestions? Thanks
there is no apk that i am aware of. You will need to download the a new font file and manually place it in your SYSTEM/FONTS directory. The file your looking for is DroidSansFallback.ttf
I believe i got mine at googles font library.
not to sound stupid or anything but how do i do that? I have seen other posts that use the terminal emulator but for some reason when I do it it does not load. Do you know of the link where you got it from the google library? thank you
anyone know?
I think you don't have root
after u root your droidx ,u can use rootexplorer to replace the font files
i did this one week ago

I used the steps mentioned here to install the fonts.
Both the ttf files are 7zipped and attached in the post.
Thank you! Installing now....
Arre mast yaar! Trying it out now!
Badluck here. After copying both files and restarting, phone was booted with default font.
lai bhari.............. but is that your own screen shot??...
anyways a great news
Just out of curiosity, in what specific countries is this type of writing used? Is this what we in Norway would call "Arabian" writing?
Sorry if I seem ignorant, but I am eager to learn.

I got around to trying it. Here is my input:
It works, but there are a few caveats:
1. Hindi fonts are displayed, but not properly. The font file(s) provided only supports basic devnagri fonts and not "joined" characters. For example it cannot properly display the word हिन्दी, because न and द are joined. Instead, they are separate characters.
2. Latin characters and spaces have become bigger. If you have app names, menu items, calendar items that are more than one line, the the second line gets cut off.
3. Make a backup of your original font files! You will most likely want to revert back because of 1 and 2
I want to read Hindi websites using the browser on my i9003 (different from i9000), will this font change from English language to Hindi completely all the menu text etc?, I don't want that just need the browser ability to render & read Hindi websites.
I am using Samsung GTI-9003 and whenever i am trying to paste the hindi fonts in to the system> fonts, it is not getting paste...
even i have try to delete the old fonts and try to paste the new,but it is rejecting...any help?

Yea, you can try it. But please note point 3 in my previous post. It does NOT change the regional language. It just gives the phone and programs ability to display devnagri fonts.
Or an easier option since you are only interested in browser capability is to use Opera for Android. Search around on google and you will see how enable devnagri support. But this is only for Opera, and not system wide.

You need to mount the partition in r/w mode. This requires root and an appropriate file manager such as File Expert.
easy way to read devnagari fonts
I used:
1. mangal.ttf from my windows machin XP/7
2. remaned mangal.ttf to DroidSansFallback.ttf
3. backup /system/fonts/DroidSansFallback.ttf
4. replace DroidSansFallback.ttf with the new DroidSansFallback.ttf (renamed mangal.ttf) using ES file explorer
5. Reboot
Worked on may galaxy i9003
Ranjan,
Thanks for reporting this I will try your method & see if it works, what fw are you using?

At last i edited the /data/liberty/init.d.conf and change into "BootSound=0" , but it doesn't work.

Hi everybody,
I'm already owner of Galaxy Note 3. I have a small problem. When I set second typing keyboard to Bulgarian or Russian, or other Cyrillic type of keyboard, the Cyrillic symbols are smaller then Latin. It's not a "big deal" but is annoying, especially when i have to switch between deferent types.
I think the problem become from system font witch using application keyboard.
If somebody has an idea how to solve this problem - please share with us. Thank you!
I'm using SM-N900T version Note 3 and have no such problem. The only problem I had was missing bg phonetic layout, but got it sorted out by modifying the app.

Flash this in recovery or just extract the modified apk from the zip and replace yours in /system/app.

Thank you very much, Nijel8. However, I am either stupid or ... I am doing something wrong ... it doesn't let me install that app. I reach the level where I have to allow not google playstore app to be installed - from "unsecure" source ... but the installation is unsuccessful

You can't install system apps... you have to replace the apk file manually and set permissions.
Also judging by what you are saying you are probably running stock odexed ROM so don't even try... It wont work. Sorry.
