hi.
my friend just bought a dell xcd 35 in india which I beieve is same as zte blade now how do i proceed rooting, installing recovery and than at last custom rom.
I hope these are the steps if not please show me a proper link where I can proceed for him.
Thanks
From what i've heard they are the same phone, just rebranded.
Try going to " sanfranciscoandroid .co .uk " and following the guides there. Make sure you download the app called 'ask mr pigfish' to check which gen the firmware is, then follow the guide for your gen
Hope that helps

--- For rooting use the "Z4 root" app. And if your phone is sold as gen2, then you need to use "modified z4 root app" for gen2 blade (since the original one doesn't work. You can just get it by searching. "Ask Mr.Pigfish" for knowing whether your xcd35 is gen1 or gen2.
--- After you root your phone, just install "rom manager" from market. You can install CWM custom recovery from the rom manager. The recovery installed in this way will be permanent and will be installed to /recovery partition.
--- After installing recovery, switch off your phone. Then hold volume down and power button which boots the phone into recovery mode. Now you can install a custom rom. All you need is to install the corresponding rom according to gen of phone. The latest CM7 is gen2.

If you have a stock gen2 blade you can flash this, anyone still on gen1 or tpt updated to gen2 cant.
flash in normal way, place image.bin in /image folder on sdcard and hold (menu / vol + / power) at same time.

4G4G_GB_GENERIC_P729V1.0.0B13 - does this mean that I can not flash this image to my native gen2 blade with 256Mb of RAM? 4G4G - its 512Mb512Mb, but I have samsung chip om motherboard that says 4G2G - 512ROM 256RAM.
Hi all!
I'm also curious to know how this official ROM performs...??? Is the kernel overclockable? Will I be able to use A2SD with it?
I'm currently using the GSF b27 which performs very well (thanks to Wbaw). Should I keep it or go to this new official one or to the brand new Cyanogen Mod 7.1 ?
Any advise is welcome!
Thanks

I ran an Antutu benchmark with GSF b26, and the stock ZTE 2.3.5 rom
I couldn't get root back after installing the ROM, so I couldn't install Clockworkmod to get back to GSF: Z4root, SuperOneClick and Cyanogenmod guide didn't help me.
Here are the results.
GSF b26:
1st run: Total 1565 | 2nd run: Total 1365
3rd run: Total 1680 | 4th run: Total 1680
Average: 1572 points
ZTE 2.3.5 Stock (you will have to reinstall clockwordmod after installing this):
1st run: Total 1203 | 2nd run: Total 1436
3rd run: Total 1368 | 3th run: Total 1451
Average: 1364 points
Maybe you can use z4root app?

anyone knows what I could do? I have a backup from clockworkmod. Just want to put it back where it belongs. But clockworkmod doesn't launch; z4root doesn't work and I can't install it without superuser.
--Jezus I finally fixed it, I wouldn't recommend this rom unless you know what you're doing.

were you able to get back root? how did you do it? thanks!
nope. I've broken my phone. It doesn't read my sim-card anymore after I flashed a rom from china (could get root and install Clockworkmod with that 2.2 rom, but yeah). After reinstalling GSF, the phone is still broken.
I think it would be better if a more experienced user would give the solution to not being able to root and install cwm.
According to the Chinese site this a rom for the ZTE libra, that's not the same as the blade, is it ?
This would cause problems when flashing this rom to the blade, i think.

Hmmmmm ... Guess you guy's should go back to 1st year school and learn to READ : this img is for the Gen2 Blade, and even then still for the Moldovian T-Mobile...
The phone isn't broken as long as you can acces CW, but it'll take some handy-handy to get the radios back to normal functionning.
The only reasonable solution for this img is decompile and extract the kernel so it can be build into e.g. GSF...

the rom worked fine. besides the fact that I couldn't get root and install Clockworkmod, therefore I couldn't get back to my old rom. (I've got GEN2)
When trying to, I messed up as explained in my previous posts.
I've brought my telephone to the shops, hopefully they will replace it without noticing that I've installed 2.3.5
Well It might work, but....
Go to h*tp://wwwen.zte.com.cn/endata/mobile/Moldova then select 3G and underneath choose libra. Click on download, and you see the download link to P020110913632559206355.zip, the same number on top at this thread. By the way: choose 3G and blade, no update there!
So where can i find info that this update is for a T-mobile update for blade ?

http://android.modaco.com/topic/343570-so-whats-the-difference-between-the-libra-and-the-blade/
Correct me if i'm wrong, but I wouldn't recommend installing this ROM. The 3 root methods that did work on the 2.2 rom of the Libra and Blade GEN2 didn't work for me on this rom. So you would risk being stuck with this ROM until a fix is found. Unless you have your original image.bin or ofcourse if you are experienced enough to root it yourself. (ADB root guide from Cyanogen also didn't work).
And, since this rom didn't perform as well in the AnTuTu benchmark as GSF I can't think of a reason you would want this instead of CM7 or GSF?
Would be nice if a developer could back me up on this..

It's a stock rom, it shouldn't be rooted. Those root exploits you tried relied on bugs in older roms. If a root exploit works then your phone isn't secure.
You just need to root the boot.img if you want to root it.
You don't even need root to install clockworkmod anyway. You just need to 'adb reboot bootloader' & then flash it with clockworkmod using fastboot.
This image.bin will make your phone incompatible with older roms too - it's a 'gen3'. You would need another image.bin or windows flash to get back to gen2.
If you installed this rom by mistake then use the following file to put you back to stock gen2... it should boot into clockworkmod after install so that you can install any gen2 rom.
http://depositfiles.com/files/fv7sejk1f
md5: 6dfe459e418865b292e7e3a8ecb398e8
install it in the same way
I have this official P729 generic 2.3.5 image.bin installed on my zte blade that was windows upgraded to gen2 before i flashed this gen3 rom using the image.bin tpt.
Rooting is as easy as wbaw has advised. The device name in build.prop identifies as blade.
I dont know how someone above has messed up their blade flashing this and a v880 image.bin. i have flashed most stock roms to my device and can help with ril issues etc.
Sent from my LG-P500 using Tapatalk
After flashing this image.bin to my phone I immediately lost root and all the other custom rom goodness I've been using. I'd say being stock feels more comfortable for me. But one thing I missed is root. I decided to go through all the stuff here and managed to root my device. Below is how I did it:
I have a GEN2 Blade from Smart Telecoms here in the Philippines. It's rebranded as the Smart Netphone 701.
Requirements:
1. Clockworkmod recovery image
2. Superuser package from androidsu.com
Steps:
1. Copy the Superuser package into the sd card.
2. Reboot the phone into fastboot. Run the following command in the command prompt (using Windows with configured Android SDK)
- adb reboot bootloader
3. When you get to the ZTE boot splash (white background with ZTE and some chinese characters), flash the clockworkmod recovery image. Used 4.0.1.5 version from the forums:
- fastboot flash recovery recovery-xxx.img (use whatever cwm recovery you have)
- fastboot reboot-bootloader (wait for screen to turn off and back to the ZTE splash)
- fastboot erase cache
- fastboot reboot
4. While rebooting, hold down the Volume (-) button to get into CWM.
5. Select install zip from sdcard.
6. Select the Superuser package (zip) and proceed with the installation.
7. When done, reboot the phone.
8. I tested by going into adb shell
- adb shell
- su
9. Prompt in the phone will request for su access.
10. That's it!
CREDIT GOES TO WBAW for recommending the installation of CWM via fastboot.
This is an official stock rom that you're downloading from zte. You shouldn't expect it to come rooted & with clockworkmod installed. Thanks for the guide, vandr3ad.
As I see it, this rom isn't really a good idea for normal users to install. You should get a rooted custom rom, like CM7, it's ahead of this anyway - 2.3.7 & has lots of nice extra features.
This rom is more for research purposes for custom rom developers to either build on top of, or to make their custom roms work with this new 'gen3' amss.mbn which is incompatible with older roms.
works great! thank u very much!
eg. if my device is n880, but I installed a rom of V880.
How can I save my device? Or it becomes a stone ?
tks.
It depends how you install it, if you used clockworkmod then you're ok, just install another working rom with clockworkmod.
If you installed it using zte update software for windows or an image.bin file then you might have broken it.
If you install a v880 rom on an n880 then it isn't going to work at all, they're totally different phones, but you can't permanently break it with clockworkmod, you can easily rescue it by installing a working n880 rom or restoring a backup.
I'm trying to recover a friends phone.
I successfully replaced the broken screen but now it's stuck while booting. I do not have root access or USB debugging activated.
I was able to backup user data in 'Android Recovery' mode but it appears to be encrypted. I think I need this phone to be functioning to extract data.
'Root integrity check' tells me that 55 files are modified. What could've caused that?
There's no P653A10_EU stock firmware rom version available. All I could find was this creation by user terrylee420
Need original Firmware (rom) for zte blade v7
Maybe someone can upload the Firmware for the zte blade v7 mt6753 Android 6. I bricked the phone and found only roms for the zte blade v7 Lite but i need for the v7 non Lite. Thanks..
forum.xda-developers.com
Will I be able to restore user data once I install the (semi) stock ROM? Or will that delete encryption keys?
Is TWRP an option for me?
I have no idea how to proceed without losing data. Maybe someone has an idea.
Hi everyone, I'm having issues with my P7500 (p4) tab. I bricked it by trying to flash a PIT file to modify the system partition size, then unbricked it by installing the stock ROM I found online for the P7500. I planned to install Android 7.1.2 eOS again so I flashed TWRP but the BigSys variant for a 1GB system partition size. Now all of this worked, but now when I try to install the custom ROM it gives me error 7, saying it's for p4 while I have a p4wifi. Before I bricked it I installed this ROM fine since it is actually a p4 not a p4wifi, I tried to force it by changing the build.prop in the ROM and renaming all the model identifiers to p4wifi but still no luck. Could this have anything to do with the stock ROM I flashed to unbrick it? If so could someone point me to a stock ROM for the P7500 'p4', or was the the TWRP BigSys variant I installed (which shouldn't have modified the model code or anything)
Help is much appreciated!
Hello, I had a similar problem with my P4 that also gave me error 7 after installing the 311 TWRP big sys version because it then is set to p4wifi instead of p4.
My solution was to use the correct TWRP version for the p4. You can find one here:
index - powered by h5ai v0.30.0 (https://larsjung.de/h5ai/)
index - powered by h5ai v0.30.0 (https://larsjung.de/h5ai/)
devdb.xda-developers.com
Transfer it to you Tab 10.1 and boot into the TWRP, recovery then just install the .zip file of TWRP for p4.
After you reboot into that one, you are able to install p4 rom again (e.g.
Ae-OS-P7500-PuckRomRemix2020.zip)
I hope this helps.
TWRP 3.11 bigsys is only for the Wifi Version and not for the 3G.
