Hi folks,
My wife and I both have N4s. Mine doesn't do this but whenever my wife unlocks or locks her phone the camera clicks. We both had NSs before our N4s and her NS did the same; mine did not.
I can only put this down to a carried over setting or an app that is causing this but I can't find which one. Before I wipe her N4 back to factory settings can anyone tell me how to trace the culprit?
I have been through all her apps to find those that combine permissions for " Run at startup" with "Can take photos and videos" and have uninstalled those that do but after rebooting the camera is still clicking.
Any help would be gratefully received.
Thanks in advance.

Its not the camera clicking. I'm guessing she has her sound on and what she is hearing is the unlock and lock screen sound. You can turn this setting off and on under Settings>Sounds>Screen lock sound
Hope that helps! Don't wipe her phone cause it will not fix the problem

Sounds like this to me too!
Ah. Just tried this setting on my N4 and that's the cure.
Now I feel a bit silly asking that question.
Thanks guys!

Has anyone noticed wonking on stock gingerbread? I have GR140. Since this morning I notice that when call arrives on phone screen off, screen doesn't come back on properly.
Only notification area is displayed. Rest of screen is black. Workaround is to press power key twice.
Yes, I am having the same issue. The work around for me(Since my power button is broken) is sliding on right to left approximately where "Slide to Answer" bar should have been and sometimes I am successfully able to receive the call.
Nope, I don't have this problem.
I keep having the same problem every since the new firmware came through. I haven't tried the power-button twice workaround.
Yep.. I'm having this problem as well.. very annoying.. Any one find a fix?
A fix for this will be shortly released by Google. Its a known issue.

I've had it a few times, normally, just rotating the phone causes the screen to re-appear.

What would be causing my screen to be turning on by itself? Did I trip some settings on accident?

There is a setting for hand gestures or s voice that would do that

Where?

Still haven't found

that's not the issue.... something else causing it.. hand gestures turned off
Are you using it naked? As much as I hate cases, I ended up putting Poetic something bumper case on my Note 3 to prevent power, volume and home buttons getting turned on all the time while my phone is in my pocket.
its not just doing it in my pocket... i used the pocket as an example..... here is what is happening....... turn the phone over (the sensor is looking at a dark area).. screen goes black after a few seconds..... now flip phone back over in a lighted room.... unlock screen appears with no touches of the button...(tried this 50 times now at least)... if i cover the sensors at the top with my hand.. then uncover them... lockscreen comes on.. (not the notifications screen, that is entirely different)..... all motion gestures are turned off..... i've tried all the obvious stuff (unless i'm missing a "phone in pocket" option or something.. tried to find one... didn't come across any.. all though i may have missed a few spots in settings.. this is driving me nuts though... tried it with case/ without case... all the same..
Nobody?

Doesn't sound like the problem you're having, but my home button got pressed in my pocket all the time. So I used an Xposed module (Wanam, I think) to make the home button not turn the screen on anymore.
well not sure why.. but i did a soft reset... everything was already on my card. just had to redownload stuff.... wasn't too far in so no real biggy.... soft reset fixed the issue...... i messed with it for 4 hours last night trying everything.. nothing worked.. soft reset worked.... why? who knows..... same apps are back on...... makes me a little uneasy honestly
When I press on home screen to enter settings and remove Google search bar it disappears but its still there. When I touch in the blank area it pulls up. Anybody else? OK just figured out. If you have it turned on it works OK then turn it off it is gone and doesn't show back up when you touch in the blank area. BUT when you power off and then back on with it off its there just invisible. If it's off it comes back on reboot but not visible. Is this just mine?
Just tested several times and works as expected on mine.
I would generally not have it but even when you turn it off you don't get that screen space back

Maybe it's just mine. I can turn it off and its truly off until I turn the phone off then back on. Then I just start tapping around the area where it would be and it opens up Google search. It's really odd. And it does it on every screen. But thanks for checking. I may boot into recovery and clear cache and see if that will fix it.
Clearing cache in recovery didn't work. Guess I'll just leave it on.
Edit: I tried turning it on and back off again, now touching there does nothing. Will have to see what it does after a reboot sometime.
I disabled mine, and if I touch in the space it is located it still pulls up on mine too.
I agree that is a bug.

Is it me or just the right speaker is playing when music is being played? I've tried mp3 and YouTube and only right speaker makes sound, this can be tested by putting your finger over the speaker, do I have a defective phone or other DT2 behave same?
There is only the one speaker on front.
Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk
Yes only right is the speaker. Idk the purpose of left. Some say mic. But the sound is pretty good. Clear, loud, very little distortion at max volume. Barely noticeable.

There is only one speaker, so yours is working correctly.
Some have assumed that there were two speakers since there were two holes, but nowhere in the specs does it say there is more than one speaker.

I all,
I'm wondering if it's feasible to somehow trigger screen lock to be disabled when a music app is active?
I know you can do this with smart pairing of Bluetooth devices but I was hoping to be able to do the same for when I'm playing music through my car's auxiliary jack / over the phone's speakers.
I've done a fair bit of googling but haven't found a solution.
I use llama app on my phone to trigger events and have tried setting a trigger using the music app to trigger the screen lock to disable but it doesn't work.
Any help appreciated!
Only thing I can think of is to turn the lock screen off in Settings....
Power amp has its own lock screen..... And I think giggle plus fits does

I haven't tried tasker - I as it's a paid app, I was hoping for confirmation that it's possible before paying for something I may not use.
I'm hoping for a non app specific solution as I use spotify and google play music, so changing music apps would only partially fix the problem.

I'm keen to not have to manually turn it on/off each time if possible.

Afraid its a manual off/on. I don't use a lock screen, unless I'm traveling.
My G901F's power button works but intermittently. Sometimes it won't work at all, other times it does. Sometimes I have to hold it down as if to wake it.
Is this a hardware issue? Or could it be a corrupted kernel. The fact it plays up when the phone's off is telling me it's a hardware issue, or does the kernel also play a part on the initial power on function?
Cheers

If you have your gpu set at too low of a frequency it may cause this that is the only time I had this issue it could also happen if you completely disable the lockscreen

The lock screen wasn't disable. All I've done so far is force GPU rendering and so far so good. I'll keep you posted.
Well, the faults still happening. It seemed to have stopped for a while but has returned.
You may have broken the lockscreen button have you dropped your phone without a case on it and or got it wet before

Check to make sure that the plastic edge is popped in to the main frame where the power button is. Sometimes when the phone bends, the frame clips off and all you would need to do is push it back in if that's the case.
