Nexus 10 stuck on boot screen after unlock or root - Nexus 10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've been trying to root 4 different Nexus 10s running 4.2.1 using the wugs toolkit. I was able to unlock the first Nexus10, but when I tried to root the device, it got stuck on the Jellybean "X" on the final boot up. After waiting about 20 minutes, I just decided to flash the stock. I then tried rooting it again and it actually worked this time. The problem is that when I try to unlock the next 3 Nexus10s, they will unlock, but then get stuck on the Jellybean X. I then tried the same process of flashing to stock and trying again, but it still doesn't seem to work. Is anyone else having this problem? Should I just try like a million times? Thanks.

try clearing the dalvik cache and data and reflash , it might work

I cant mount my device.I cant see my sdcard on computer or install(in TWRP).When I flash cwm touch. It told me can't mount sdcard. What the hell??? Now its already half bricked cant boot into android.:crying:

Boot up recovery, wipe everything except system and reboot, it should come up ok. For some reason both my N7 and N10 hung at 'X' during unlocking but that fixed them..

How are you certain your recovery is gone? You might just be stuck in bootloop. Your best bet is to use toolkit to get you into recovery. Whether Twrp or CWM. From there youcan flash a new kernel and see if it fixes it or use it to restore a backup.
I had similar issue where it was stuck on boot screen. I ccouldn't enter recovery normally. Only way was hooking it up to a pc. Then using a toolkit to make the tablet go into recovery. Then from there, I could use recovery on tablet itself and restore a backup. From there I was good again. Problem solved for me.
Try one of the other toolkits, like Sambra one. Make sure drivers properly installed though.

It's an easy fix, just use wug's toolkit and flash the stock Nexus 7 image. It will be like brand new. I don't think you had a very major problem at all to begin with just a minor bootloop, but this far along I'd restore it to stock and start fresh.

Nexus 7 stuck in bootloop after attempts to reflash stock and unroot

Hello everyone,
I tried to root my 32g Nexus 7 with WugFresh's toolkit 1.6.1 (I'm fairly new to the rooting thing so I tried to use a toolkit). It did not go well. During the process I received messages from the toolkit saying it could not read Fastboot - but they seemed to go away after I switched USB ports. After the bootloader unlocked, I went back into the device and saw that it didn't fully wipe (I thought it was supposed to wipe out *everything*). When the rooting portion was finished, there were no new apps in my app page (super user and whatnot).
So I decided to nix the whole thing and just put it back into stock and try again tomorrow. I followed the instructions to get the drivers to where they needed to be, and then set it to flash back to stock and unroot the device.
First time around, it stalled during the flash. Rebooted, tried again, flash went fine. Toolkit said it would appear to be stuck in a bootloop for about 5-10 minutes. Well, after 20 minutes, it was still on that colorful "x". So, I reset it once again, and now it's stuck on the pretty colored "x". I do think the unlock is still there because the open padlock still shows up when I reboot. It just gets stuck on the "x".
Can anyone help me? I'd really rather not remove the battery if I have to (though it doesn't look that hard).
I feel terrible about this. This was my Christmas gift, and I feel like I've completely ruined the thing over what was supposed to be an easy root procedure.
EDIT: I was able to get to the Android with the red triangle on it and did a factory reset, but it seems that it still can't get past the "x".

The best thing to do is reflash using fastboot. Google "flash n7 with fastboot". It is really the best way to work on an n7, or any nexus device.

nexus 7 stuck on android is upgrading

i have a nexus thats completely stock( out of the box) worked fine for about a month, let the tablet die and has been unplugged for about a week. got it charged up and and would not turn on. using the nexus root toolkit i was able to get to turn on. unlocked the device( unlock logo below google icon on startup) was unable to get past that point. now finally i can get past the nexus boot logo but it gets stuck on aindroid is upgrading " optimizing app 1 of 11" i cant root using the root tool kit bc when i unlocked device it got rid of developer options ( by what the msg said before i unlocked). im simply trying to get my device to turn back on. i dont plan to root or install a rom, im fine with the stock rom. i just want to damn device to turn back on. when i was able to power on the device when i first got it i did upgrade to the newest jelly bean rom. any one can help me on this issue ??
thanks
Boot into temporary custom recovery using Nexus root toolkit(Advance menu). Now wipe cash and devlock than try rebooting into system. If it doesn't work you can try factory reset. Last but not the least will be Flash Stock + Unroot(Soft brick/boot loop).
ok i wiped cache and devlock was able to to pass the nexus logo into what looks like another android is upgrading screen it got up to 14 of 20 and froze. between my 1st post and yours i was able to get android to fully run. did all the 1st time setup but after about a couple screen taps the device kept freezing and coming up with crash reports. there were a few times that the stock launcher even forced close. after a couple of restarts it finally quit again and would not even pass the nexus logo. ill try to do the other options that u stated in your post. any other thoughts ?

If the factory reset doesn't work just go for the Flash. I don't think you are much worried about the data so it's not a big deal for you. and I'm quit sure this is gonna work. Best of luck.
ok did that. went smooth but then once again it just gets stuck at the nexus logo. waited for over 10 mins like the notes say after re flashing and nothing. so i did a restart this time it passed the nexus logo, went to android is upgrading optimizing app and gets stuck at 4 of 11. being that this is pure android are there custom roms out there that i could try to flash via odin. ive rooted and installed roms before on my other android devices no problem but they were never pure google. am i missing something here. also what would cause a brand new nexus 7 just to go "ape ****" on its self.

Okay, that's weird!!!
Are you using Nexus Root Toolkit?? If yes are you using pre-downloaded android??
Try Automatically download + Extract.....
Last of all I'm really confused how there could be a problem when you got a fresh OS and Stock.
I agree with the messing thing that you told... Try checking and double checking everything... Check if you have selected the correct device or not.
And do a full wipe(including system) using TWRP before flashing again.
Edit: Make sure you are using the latest toolkit. You can get it from the link bellow.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1766475
Try flash stock image throught toolkit.
i have the most current root toolkit. i installed the rom that was available to download via the app which was android 4.2.2 jdq39

I don't see a way how the problem still exists... :S
Whatever the problem is it's seems to be with android OS. But how it exists in completely new android. Sorry can't find a reason behind the problem. You can still try flashing any older android (like 4.1.2).
ok i got a zip of stock 4.1.2 and using the root tool kit i can install a zip via the twrp but it wont let me bc it says adb device not found and that developer options need to be turned on. im un able to turn it on bc i cant even get into the rom on the device.
thanks
ok i got it working. i was able to flash the older rom to my device and its working so far. no force closes yet.
thanks for everyone's help

I can't just think of anything else. Just telling you the things that I'd have done if I were you.
* reinstall boot
* change kernel
* turn off the auto update of android.
* try some costume room.
Don't throw it out the window you call always donate it to me if you really wanna throw it or make a drop test video...
Last of all just don't lose hope keep trying. you'll find out something surely and share it with us.

Stuck in bootloop - doesn't reach boot animation, and can't access recovery.

Hi All!
I seem to be stuck in a bootloop on my 6P. I was running the latest Pure Nexus build, and I was having a bit of trouble with some apps, so I decided to reboot into TWRP and wipe the cache. After booting up again, everything seemed normal. The phone was running for a minute or so, and it just shut off. After that, it just keep rebooting. It's not a normal bootloop. I do not reach the animation, I only get to the screen where it says "google" and has the unlocked padlock symbol on the bottom. After that, it starts all over again with the "cannot check for corruption screen."
To be very clear: I can't boot anything at all, including recovery. I have tried flashing multiple versions of TWRP and multiple versions of the stock recovery.
Here is what I've tried so far:
I have flashed back to the latest 7.1.1 release both manually and using the flash all command
I used fastboot to erase the system, cache, boot, and userdata. I ran the commands normally and also with -w.
I've tried to flash an older version of android - 6.0, I think.
Nothing seems to work. I haven't made it to the boot animation once since it shut down.
I also left it on the charger all night just to be sure. The battery was at about 75% when it shut down.
Thanks!
RMA bro.

Glad your warranty worked for you. Pure Nexus seems to be a recurring factor in several threads. I've never used it myself. Over in this thread, an experienced user ran into a bootloop that would not clear with a fresh wipe and installation with flash-all.bat or even flashing partitions manually. Flash-all.bat finished with no errors but still looping. As a last resort he used Skipsoft's Toolkit to re-install stock and it worked. The toolkit script formats userdata and cache and this appears to be what solved the problem. Interestingly, he was able to reproduce the problem with PN. After installing it, he went into a bootloop again and the toolkit again got him back to stock. So, others that are stuck in a bootloop especially after running or updating PN should try formatting userdata and cache, or use the toolkit.

Unable to boot into system

Guys I've tried rooting the phone but after I flash everything, the phone refuses to boot into system.
I followed the guide here for flashing twrp and the files with it. After everything is done the phone just gets stuck on the main logo and boots into twrp again and again
I've flashed stock like twenty times and still whenever i try rooting, it won't boot into system.
What am I doing wrong?
Sounds like your missing a step

I've followed every step, been at this since 4 days now.still same problem.
Then instead of booting into stock I tried flashing alpha n7, but now it just locks me out saying Samsung pay services were removed without authorization. I'm locked on the screen can't do anything.
After checking for a fix, I've looked for the XML but there's none. TWRP can't mount data or some other [email protected]#$& error
