Hi guys. I have a Nexus S and I already posted this in the NS forums.
Now... I've been wanting a Nexus 7 ever since it was announced, but only now that I can afford one.
But now I see I've got a chance to buy a 16gb Nexus 4.
I was planning on continuing to use my Nexus S as it totally rocks running CM10.1 and using the Nexus 7 for browsing the web around the house and playing games.
If I would buy the Nexus 4 I would obviously not afford the Nexus 7 for a while. But the Nexus 4 is such a sexy piece of hardware and it has a much better camera than the Nexus S and I've got a baby on the way and I would love to be able to take good pictures and HD videos of my little ones.
Help me decide!
Nexus 7 + Nexus S
Or
Nexus 4 only
I´ll tell you one thing that might sway your opinion a bit...
I am in Iceland... A 16gb Nexus 4 is 99.900 ISK = 775 USD. A 32gb Nexus 7 is 59.900 ISK = 465 USD.
:crying:

I would say keep the S and get the 7.
If you are happy with the phone you have now, then keep it and enjoy the larger screen of the 7 for video/pics/etc...
And you will have some money left over to put towards what ever phone Google comes out with next.
Danggg that's expensive
I would keep your current phone, buy the 7, and with the cash saved buy a nice little camera. No phone can replace a camera. You'll have it all. Good luck with the kid. I got two and they ain't cheap..
I just* came from a Nexus S yesterday. I say get the Nexus 4. It is son totally worth it dude....
Crap and I thought that getting the nexus 4 from t-Mobile was expensive.
I would strongly encourage against getting the nexus 4. Instead get the nexus 7. You can still take pictures with the nexus 7 and the nexus s. Your new baby will also be able to use the device to play once he or she is old enough

Wow, didn't expect the Nexus 4 forum to be so biased towards the N7. I might just post this in the N7 forum to get all points of view.

For 770$, don't get the nexus 4.
A nexus s and a nexus 7 would be much better value for money.
If it was priced normally, get the n4

Not biased, we are just reasonable. If the N4 would've been the price it normally is, I would've gotten it. But in your situation, getting the N7 is simply the most logical thing to do.

Does $550 USD still worth it?

775 USD! OMG! I thought my country was bad in prices. It's 500$ USD here in Pak.
I couldn't recommend getting Nexus 4. It's the most beautiful phone ever made but bad battery and horrible camera destroy the whole experience unfortunately.

If it's the most beautiful phone ever made, what do you recommend?
By the way, the battery isn't that bad. You just have to figure out what causes it. Also, the camera isn't horrible. It's above average for a smartphone. Certainly not the best, but it's also not the worst.

If money isn't the issue then Note 2 is the king of the hill. I can fully recommend that. Battery is super good out from the box and camera in top 3 of the smart phones.
I really want to love my Nexus but my heart breaking every time how I see the battery go down and when I take a picture in a bit dark conditions.
Then on the other hand Note 2 which is plastic and kinda ugly and would be great to hate it just always surprises me positively.

What! In Denmark a 32GB wifi only Nexus 7 costs 400$,or 2000 DKK. Wow. How come it's so expensive?

Thanks for the suggestion, but I've looked into this now and I see that it wouldn't save me a lot of money due to Icelandic import taxes. Maybe about 50 GBP.

Isn't Iceland part of the EU? I have the same problem as you, only I live in the Netherlands. I have the option to buy it from the UK or German playstore, and Germany also sells it elsewhere for a higher price.
You could get it from Canada/USA (when it's available again, or maybe via ebay) and hope you don't have to pay import duty. If you have it sent to you as a gift (like a personal package from family) I believe you don't have to pay taxes. At least that's how it works here. It's a bit of a grey area but I'm not going to pay 100-200 euro more for a phone that's supposed to be cheap.

I thought Iceland was a EEA country, no? I mean they don't ask for visa... Your currency is Euros right?
Just buy it on ebay.co.uk but don't forget to ask the seller if he could send it as a gift. (If you really want to make sure.)

A lot of ebay sellers don't want to do this though. And besides, finding a cheap seller on ebay can be difficult. You have to bid on almost every single one, and that can drive up the price really fast.
I've never had one, but what are the chances of being just as good as a new one? It has to be 100% right? There wouldn't be any scratches or anything like that.. I'm receiving one in a few days, I have 7 days to return and just keep the one I bought new when it was release.. And what chances are of me getting a newer rev? I have rev10.. Got it 4 days after release..

If you have a Garmin GPS refurbished by them, it will come with a new case and screen. I have never had a phone refurbished to these standards, but I guess it all depends on who does the refurbing. There are a lot of "third party" refurbers like PDA Giant and my experience is that they suck. Bought a Nexus One from one and it had dead camera, flash, and proximity sensor... so much for thorough testing. A second one I bought through Best Buy had a bad digitizer. Both screens had minor scratches.
Well mines coming from T-Mobile.. I also bought this nexus 4 through them at retail store..

Hey everyone,
I'm considering to buy a new Phone. My current phone is the HTC Desire, which I use for about 2.5 years now.
Would your recommend buying a Nexus 4 now or is it worth waiting for the X-Phone or the next Nexus device? Some sources claim, that we will see those devices around June, after Google's developer conference. I definitely want a pure Google device.
The thing that is holding me back is that it we are about to allot new gen devices in the near future, with the new iteration of specs. (1080p display, Snapdragon 600 and 800...) So it seems to be a good idea to wait another 3 months or so...
What do you think?
Newer technology is always around the corner, you will wait forever if you always wait for the Next Big Thing. How easy will it be to get one of these as-yet-unreleased phones, and how much will they cost?
The N4 is available right now, at a bargain price, and will be a big step up from your Desire ...

After Upgrading from a HTC Desire Z, my only regret is that i didn't buy it sooner.
I got mine from T-Mobile free after 50 dollar Mir.

I think that all of those devices will be non nexus, bloated, at the mercy of the Manufacturer devices. And for what? More processing power to view your email? The screens may be nice tho. I don't see why you'd need 1080p on a less then 5in screen tho...
After owning this phone three weeks. I can't see going back to a carrier bloated samsung, HTC, or moto phone.
Look at the galaxy nexus, last year's hardware and it's still one of the smoothest and fastest phones because of pure android. The nexus 4 will hold its value too, it's only 349, don't buy the 8gb. You can always sell on ebay if you don't like it and come out even right now and I have a feeling n4 will keep selling on ebay for close to what you pay from Google. The only issues I have with the n4 is the camera is just not as good in poor lighting as my s3 was, other than that it's great. It's the best deal in Tech. Compared to the desire it's going to be ridiculous.

The right time is now OP. As others have said there is ALWAYS a newer phone with more impressive specs around the corner. With that mindset you will be waiting forever. I realize you dont want to buy the nexus 4 now and a few weeks later the next nexus device is announced. eh "such is life" OP
I'm pretty happy with mine. I'm coming from a Bionic.
I still probably will consider the x phone but this is certainly a solid enough device that I won't feel the need to jump ship the day it is released.

I just got mine on Tuesday (ordered Saturday) to replace my Galaxy Nexus - best decision I've made as the higher DPI alone makes it better IMO
OK, 1080p screens are nice and that but I don't need it as I don't watch films/play games on my phone
Sv: Right time to buy a Nexus 4 or wait?
It's the right time, upgraded from a nexus one. So i recommend nexus 4. A real catch in my eyes. ^^,

So, I'm assuming a large number of you will buy the Nexus 5 when it comes out. My question is this: How much do you plan to ask for your Nexus 4, assuming you plan to sell it. Do you think the fact that the Nexus 4 is sold out and obsolete will have any impact on your asking price, or more importantly, on the price a buyer agrees to?

Well here in India, it is still available at Local Shops, I bought the phone with Indian warranty just a month back for 418$ 16gb. I will atleast try to get 350$+ with it's 11 month warranty still left.

Check out sites such as eBay, Craigslist etc. to get an idea of what to sell the N4 for. Also keep in mind that the condition, accessories (box, original charger etc) and GB version, possibly even color (white or black version) all increase/decrease value.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
They are still available here brand new, I just upgraded to one for free but they are selling for $300 unlocked with a plan (no contract though).
So I doubt you could get much over $250 with the way people are around here. That's Canadian $$ too lol
I will ask $224.67. I will get $213.92.
As an example, I sold my GNex for €150, I could probably sell my N4 for €250.
Then again, I just got it, so I wont
I asked to trade in my Nexus 4 at one of my local shops and they said they can't take it because apparently the serial number sticker is not there. I didn't think it was in important at all. Just peeled it off when it faded. Does that mean you can never resale without that back sticker. That can't be a reason to order a replacement surely.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
$200-250 will probably be the market value in the USA once the N5 comes out. What other phones with similar specs and popularity are there? The closest competition are used Galaxy S3s (which I think is inferior to the N4).
i'm planning to buy nexus 4,
but i'm confused if there's a nexus 4 2nd generation like nexus 7 and nexus 7 2nd gen?
and can you give best reason why did you buy nexus 4?
thanks

the 2nd gen nexus 4 is called nexus 5
Reasons : best device at that time with best cpu, best ram etc, at the cheapest price with perfect screen size and res, latest updates and lots of development.
Most of the above reasons are still true
No, the Nexus 4 doesn't have any "generations" so to speak.
But there are a few different revisions. Like Rev 10, 11, 12, 13.
Look here:
celltraderonline.com/showthread.php?4253-Knowing-The-Difference-Nexus-4-REV-10-Vs-Nexus-4-REV-11
But they're all the same phone really, just minor improvements.

I got it two weeks ago because my iPhone broke a month back and I needed a phone that would be cheap. Lo and behold I found mine mint condition for only 240$ on craigslist. Before my iPhone I used an inspire 4g which was pretty good. The hardware on this is pretty good for only 230$. The nexus 5 looked pretty good but seemed to have a lot of launch issues and it didn't have any features I'd need to pay the extra money for. That said I'll probably get a nexus 5 when it becomes cheaper too.
