My rig is bricked!. so i tried flashing it with windows 8. The omap 3630 drivers gets installed , installed a lot of moto softwares but RSD lite would nt show up my device
Any suggestions?
Thank you!
And i once saw a thread where the stock recovery was replaced by some sort of recovery where custom recovery is flashable through that. So bricking will be not easily possible.

That happened with me when I was on Windows 8 too. Later I used sbf_flash for Linux to restore.
I don't know about any "stock recovery replacing with custom recovery".

Because I couldn't find step by step procedure how to root and install recovery console on Huawei U8800 Pro, I decided to write it myself.
This procedure was tested on Windows 7 64bit and Android 2.2.2 Froyo.
Installing USB drivers
1. Download USB drivers from here http://www.mediafire.com/?5z6i5cv8l6br292
2. Connect your phone to USB on your computer
3. Follow these steps to install USB driver http://developer.android.com/sdk/win-usb.html#Win7
Rooting
4. Download SuperOneClick v2.2 from here ftp://shortfuse.org/SuperOneClick/Packages/SuperOneClickv2.2-ShortFuse.zip
5. Extract ZIP content
6. Right click SuperOneClick.exe and select "Run as administrator". This is very important!!!
7. Wait till it says that your phone is rooted
Installing unofficial Clockwork Mod Recovery 5.0.2.7
8. Download and install Root explorer from here http://getandroidstuff.com/download-root-explorer-android-v23/
9. Follow these instructions http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1343276
With this procedure I successfully rotted my phone and installed recovery 5.0.2.7. With this recovery console u will be able to install whatever ROM u like. Just remember to create backup of your official ROM first!!! I needed it badly when I discovered that new MIUI for U8800 Pro is not working as expected.
Backup can be a life saver!!!
Correct me if I'm wrong, but the SuperOneClick method does not work on Gingerbread. I've rooted mine by replacing the boot.img with the one in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1326525

Thank you i will ask for help if i ll have a problem.Good day .
I have a ME860 with official 2.3.4 updated, i yesterday unlocked the Bootloader with IHOP_Bell.sbf and have CWM flashed successfully. But my phone booted into command line saying OS not detected and was stucked at the command line with 14modes available.
I got into Recovery and flashed to CM7(latest Bat2F.zip) and it completed without error. Now the command line says OS will Boot in 5 secs but is again stucked with Cold Boot Linux Reading ODM Fuse:1 displayed.
I am new to this can someone help me out here ? Thank you
Are you messing around with RSD at all?
Sent from my Atrix XDA Premium App
the only time i used RSD is to flash the IHOP_Bell.sbf to enable unlocking the bootloader. As for flashing the CWM i did tru the Fastboot command from the computer. After that I have never touch RSD at all.
the phone boots up showing unlocked on the top left of the screen. however what i found a bit strange was, right after i flashed the IHOP_bell.sbf, the phone always boots up in the bootloader mode. i thought it was normal that way, so from there i selected the fastboot mode and the phone did boot into fastboot. then i connect the USB cable and entered the fastboot oem unlock and successfully unlocked the phone.
after that, i flashed the CWM recovery mode using moto-fastboot flash recovery and it was done, and i am able to get into CWM recovery options too.
Actually i am thinking of flashing the HKTW fruitcake sbf, do u think it is a good idea ? or should i try something else first?
I wouldn't touch that. I personally never used that. I would wait till another user comments.
Sent from my Atrix XDA Premium App
i tried the fruitcake anyways, and it actually booted up !!
i took a look at the phone details. my phone is now MB860 instead of ME860 which i had b4. anyways there seems to be minor bug with this stock HKTW ROM cuz in the phone details , the version number has a userdebug name in it. so i guess thats way its not stable
will try to flash CM7 again
CM7 still not working, any ideas anyone ??

What CWM are you using? If it doesn't support ext4 that might be your problem. The things you've successfully flashed are all ext3.
Make sure you're using ROM Manager's or romracer's. Those are the only ones that support ext4.
Need to know what recovery you have installed & did you wipe data/factory rest & wipe both caches before flashing CM7????

Hi guys, I installed CM10 on my phone, with defy+ ginger kernel, but now I want to install another ROM (MS2Ginger) and to install it I need to flash a SBF.
But RSD doesn't recognize my phone anymore, I already used RSD some time ago, but now it stop working!
I already tried with the phone on bootloader, debug on/off, RSD opened as admin and some other ways, but RSD don´t detect my phone!
Does anyone have more tips?
why do you need to flash sbf for another rom? isnt it a cwm zip just like cm?
aboit rsd lite, which version are you using? 5.3 worked fine for me so far. maybe you should try a different usb port...

If you really want to flash full sbf, you have to flash proper BL version, depending what you had on your phone before flashing custom ROMs. What do you mean you have defy+ kernel? The phone was flashed with full gb sbf?
Anyway as zakoo2 said, it should be enough to flash from CWM, starting with wiping data (the tutorial was prepared mainly for those who flashed custom ROM for the first time). Depending on whether you had froyo or GB as a parent system, you shall flash proper version and eventually proper fixes.
RSD shall see your phone when in bootloader mode, then debugging on or off doesn't matter. Try another USB port, uninstall and install moto drivers, should work
reinstall moto drivers....should work then...

And you connect your defy in bootloader mode? I mean pressing vol up when power on?
The only case I can imagine now is not proper USB cable, or starting RSD not in an administrator mode.
And the kernel you have flashed shall be overwritten while flashing BL5 kernel during MS2G installation
I installed Ms2Ginger without flash Froyo! Worked well! Thaks guys! Solved!
I have a Motrola Bravo MB520. It currently has no ROM and a stock recovery. I tried to install CyanogenMod using the Bravo Recovery. (Bootstrap) https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bandroidx.motobravo.bootstrap Somehow, I erased the /system and my phone just stops at the Motorola icon. I can't find a stock ROM but possibly someone can provide one. (Preferably one thats a .zip and will flash from the stock recovery) I can get into the bootloader but it's no use since my computer (A Mac) won't detect it. (Or at least not in ADB/Fastboot) So now I have a brick and the only real way to fix is to get a ROM which is signed so the stock recovery will accept it.
All help is appreciated since I need this to work.
Thank you in advance.

I downloaded a SBF for my device but that utility didn't work. I used another computer which could run RSD Lite so I just installed it there. I'm back to my original plan.
Thank you for the advice, though!
I have a droid razr m xt907. It was working fine until suddenly it wouldn't boot. I tried flashing using House of Moto. Unfortunately, at that point I didn't recognize the phone as being an xt907 and only knew it as a droid razr m. The house of Moto instructions said you have to insert new lines in the rom if you have a snapdragon device and included the xt907.
I flashed it (with the wrong rom) and it would no longer go into recovery but only goes to ap fastboot.
I've also tried flashing with rsd lite.
Recently I installed Ubuntu but it hasn't been able to recognize the phone using gmtp.
Help appreciated.
Youre not inserting lines into the rom. You're replacing (overwriting) old files in the houseofmoto tools file. These file are labeled "windows", "linux", and "darwin". There is a link on the houseofmoto main page containing the new files. All you have to do is extract both files to folders, open both files, and then drag and drop from Snapdragon fxz support folder to house of moto folder. Use the "copy and replace" option when prompted. See guide here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2450702
The exact detials aren't the point. The problem is that I didn't realize that my phone was a snapdragon device or an xt907. I only knew it as a droid razr m -- so I didn't put the new files into the tools folder and ended up flashing the phone with the wrong files and now it's hard bricked.

that is the correct firmware for the razr m xt907. It's the last update it got. The only thing that sucks about it is that it also installs the unlockable bootloader and kills root. You didn't flash the wrong firmware.
The firmware was correct but the files in the tools folder were for the wrong phone. That's why it got bricked.
I assume I already had the latest firmware update when it started giving problems since it was updating automatically -- so I would have had to flash it with that version anyway.
All you can do is delete all the extracted zip files and start over. If you still have all the downloaded zips just set it all back up from there. If you've tried RSD lite with the 62-15.1 firmaware, and you got no errors, I'd say you're hosed.
When I try to flash using rsdlite, a factory cable, and the 15.1 rom, it gives the error message: "failed flash process 1/17 flash partition "gpt.bin"

If you're using ubuntu, you can either install android sdk tools (adb), or you can can the motorola fastboot version for linux, then you can use the mrbluecoat instructions i posted above. You can also go back to the houseofmoto site and there are instructions on how to set it up for linux. The "tools" files you dind't replace are just fastboot files. If you set it up on ubuntu, and double check that you have the correct fastboot files, it should restore. If you don't do a lot of rooting or restoring phones just use houseofmoto. If it's something you do often then setup adb...or you can also just use motorola fastboots
Is there a reason that it would work using ubuntu but not work using windows? I've tried house of moto and rsdlite without success using windows.
