I am using a Honeycomb Image from here for my Nook Color and can't find a way to get the Play Store as it didn't come with it and there is no file manager to install from the sdcard. Has anyone else used this or know of a better one for the Nook Color that will allow me access to the Play Store as I am wanting to install Unity Remote so I can use the device with Unity 3D. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
If you email it you should be able to run it from the email attachment / download menu. But I would say try some of the jellybean builds. They're much more complete and they run much smoother, the HC builds were built from the sdk and never got to a point of great stability.

Play Store gets installed as part of a gapps package, not as a stand alone app. Try one of the gapps-hdpi or gb or ics versions at goo.im. Flash that with your CWM.

Thanks for helping. I was trying the Honeycomb build since I was able to run it from the sd card but I also tried the one from CyanogenMod which has 2.3.5 that is listed as the last stable version for Nook Color and that anything later isn't stable from their mods. Is there a jellybean build you recommend that is stable? And how do I install the gapps as I couldn't find any documentation on the goo site. Also I was unable to add my e-mail with CyanogenMod 7.2 as it wasn't able to communicate with the server and I was connected to Wifi.

You really should get rid of that honeycomb. It is way put of date and was never very good. Go to my NC updated SD installation thread linked in my signature. Everything you need is there. I recommend the latest CM10 nightly linked there. It is a nightly, but very stable (certainly more stable than that honeycomb). And the link for the gapps that matches is linked on my thread too.

I upgraded CM 6 to CM6.1 RC2 and everything went smooth, except when you turn the nexus one on there is no market or gmail from google as if they some how are no longer part of the phone.
When I upgraded I did it from the phone itself so when i was ask if i wanted google add on I click yes and once it went to the booting process and the new CM6.1 RC2 was running I could not find the market or my contacts I could not sync my phone to the google server...why?
Hum.....read the thread and find the link to Google apps. You will then need to flash Google apps on top of your CM6 ROM.
I know sometimes the Google apks fail to download in ROM manager.
So should i download the CM 6.1 RC2 from the phone since i have the ROM manager and not get the google add on and download it from a PC, save it to da sd card n then do it manually?...please explain...thank you!
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
Download them both from the pc to sdcard .. then flash in recovery .. cm first then add ons
I just went to cyanogenmod website n i guess i was not da only one with this problem!...apperently you can no longer download CM 6.1 RC2 because not having android market or gmail...please if someone can help develop this ROM correctly...thank you!

Uh, I have no idea what you're talking about. CM6.1 RC2 is still available for download. If you still have it loaded, grab the GAPPS package from the wiki (link below) and flash it over your current ROM (no need to wipe first) to get the Market, Gmail, etc... back.
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php?title=Passion:Installing_CyanogenMod
I notice if you go to cyanogenmod website and click on downloads and then experimental and you see CM6.1 RC2 and if you click on it it says you can not download it anymore because it was reported as broken because not having Market or gmail.
On the same website if you go to forums and then see nexus one it will give you a link to download it from the links they have on that forum....so my question is which one is really true?
any ideas?
Considering I'm running CM6.1 RC2 with everything working perfectly, I'd say it's not a problem with the build....
Edit: I just checked the page - you can actually still download the zip. Someone just reported the file as broken, but that isn't a note from the devs (they have better grammar).
CM Roms haven't included Google apps in a long time.
Google asked that their programs weren't included because they are copyrighted material. Android being open, you can still download the GAPPS (Google Apps) pack and flash over CM's latest.
This has been the method as long as I've been on Android.
I got downloaded it from your xda website and it works!!!...now can someone tell me what is the mayor changes from CM6.0 and CM6.1 RC2? the only thing I can notice is the fm radio...anybody can tell me what also is good with this ROM?
By the way....I love cyanogenmod!!...much better than the stock one!...Keep up with the good work developers!
Anybody has some input as what is da mayor change between CM 6.0 and CM6.1 RC2?...i want to explore my new ROM....any ideas where should i start?

You could do a little Google'ing and find out...maybe a search for "CyanogenMod Changelog"?
Here, I did the hard work for you:
https://github.com/CyanogenMod/android_vendor_cyanogen/blob/froyo/CHANGELOG.mkdn
Ooo let me be another canadian to google that for you !
See the link below

Look at the change log. Lots of differences.
Okay, so I just flashed today's (10/12/2011) nightly update of Cyanogenmod 7 (or CM7DX) and I noticed that the vast majority of my videos won't play no matter which play I use. At first I thought it was just a glitch in the 3D Galley, but then I came to find out that none of the players I downloaded would play my vids. Is this one of the normal CM7DX glitches? Or are my video files corrupted? Please help, thanks!
Btw, I would flash back to my last stock rom, but my phone is currently on the charger here at work. Lol.
Its one of the problems CM7 has. The camera ans Youtube also will not work.
Camera and YouTube work when the fix is flashed. I believe that CyanogenMod can't play videos taken with the blur video camera.

You need to try CM4DX GB (DroidX CM7.1 with Gingerbread Kernel). All of the above issues are working out of the box, no additional fixes needed! I use this as my daily driver, very stable...
You can find the thread over at RootzWiki, the dev is RevNumbers.
From his thread:
Until I get my personal life straightened out, only builds with notable changes will be posted here.
You can always find the latest builds in ROM Toolbox available on the market
until they update the toolbox to work correctly with the latest versions of CWR, you can download the rom in the toolbox then manually install the zip found in /sdcard/romtoolbox/downloads/RevNumbers/

Hi there,
I tried to install Firefox, after flashing ICS to my Tab. But I get an error "incompatible with your device" error.
Can somebody explain why this is happening.
Firefox was running on my 7.7 HC and it should run with ICS....?
thanks

Heh "should" is a word fraught with peril. But, yeah, it doesn't seem compatible at the moment. I don't know if editing the build.prop would be a workaround or not, however. Have you checked their mobile support site?
Anyway, I just downloaded the nightly build and it installs and seems to run fine on my ICS 7.7.
Thanks burhanistan for pointing me to the nightlies. Did know they also exist for Android.
Indeed the Nightly is running smooth
Yes you can use the nightlies, They did put out a stable ver of firefox but its only for phones right now they said they are working on a tablet verison.
Search for Aurora. That's the Firefox nightly. Quick ICS Browser is so much better IMHO.

After installing cm 10-20130414 nightly I get the message device not compatible when trying to download some apps like hulu plus. Any ideas? Thanks.
Nightlies are experimental versions I assume that you are aware of it? Try to install stable version and tweak it some nighltly features you may find them on google.

There are many device properties that Play Store checks to see if an app is considered compatible. Screen resolution and density, permissions like telephony, location services, gps, and not the least of which is the device name in build.prop. Sometimes changing those things makes Play Store say they are now compatible.
But just because Play Store says it is not compatible does not mean it will not run on your device. It just means Play Store will not let you install it. The solution is to get the app somewhere else, like the Amazon Store, 1mobile.com store or from another device. I have found that the majority of apps that Play Store says is not compatible actually run well on the Nook Color.

try download from other market, or just download the apk.
or maybe the app is just not compatible with jellybean (cm10)
Hi,
I am sure this question has been asked before, but I can't seem to get clear instructions on how to do it.
I rooted my NC last night. It is version 1.4.3 and I used the below method:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1494901
I installed this manual nooter: manualnooter-5.08.20.apps2sd.block_updates.zip
and also this kernel: Dalingrin OC kernel
So right now it is rooted - I just can't seem to get the play store market. The market that I see is very limited. Can someone please provide me detailed instructions on how to put on the play store?
Also - are there any other launchers that I can use/are recommended? Currently using the Zeam Launcher.
I want to be able to install games and play videos for my son - and I also want to be able to use things like Hulu and Netflix. Are there any other add ons that anyone recommends?
I am very good at following the instructions, just need them described in a way that I can understand as I am not that techy!
Thank you in advance!!
Market should update itself to Play Store as you use it. But that will not necessarily help with getting rid of the limitations. You may have to get your apps from other stores like Amazon.com or 1mobile.com.
I like ADW for my launcher.

What do you mean it will update itself? For example I searched for Candy Crush (yes, i know HAHA), and it doesn't find it? :/

read my edit above. Play Store is just a newer version of market.
Edit: Market/Play Store is sometimes very picky about what it will show as compatible with your device. Your options are to use other stores or install the app you have downloaded from another device.

Ok - thanks.
I also read somewhere that I should install gapps?
For the ADW launcher - can I find that on the market?

Gapps are included in manual nooter, you do not want to install again.
Yes, you should find ADW in the market.

Awesome - I will tinker more with it tonight TY for your help!
Another question, since you have been so helpful :
With the way that I rooted the nook, what version do I have? (Gingerbread, ICS, Honeycomb)
I assume knowing which version I have will help in terms of what apps will work on it and be compatible.
Thank you

Hi Leapinlar,
So I successfully got the play store working and some other things. Running Go Launcher as the launcher.
I was wondering, how do I go about making it a little faster? I notice that it lags quite a bit. I downloaded Nook tweaks, but have no idea on what to change on there. I have also been reading posts about Cyanogenmod 7 or Cyanogenmod 10 but don't know if that will make a difference. I do have most of the apps saved on the SD card as to not take space and memory. I also have clean sweeper installed to kill tasks.
Any advice? Thanks.
