I upgraded CM 6 to CM6.1 RC2 and everything went smooth, except when you turn the nexus one on there is no market or gmail from google as if they some how are no longer part of the phone.
When I upgraded I did it from the phone itself so when i was ask if i wanted google add on I click yes and once it went to the booting process and the new CM6.1 RC2 was running I could not find the market or my contacts I could not sync my phone to the google server...why?
Hum.....read the thread and find the link to Google apps. You will then need to flash Google apps on top of your CM6 ROM.
I know sometimes the Google apks fail to download in ROM manager.
So should i download the CM 6.1 RC2 from the phone since i have the ROM manager and not get the google add on and download it from a PC, save it to da sd card n then do it manually?...please explain...thank you!

Download them both from the pc to sdcard .. then flash in recovery .. cm first then add ons
I just went to cyanogenmod website n i guess i was not da only one with this problem!...apperently you can no longer download CM 6.1 RC2 because not having android market or gmail...please if someone can help develop this ROM correctly...thank you!

Uh, I have no idea what you're talking about. CM6.1 RC2 is still available for download. If you still have it loaded, grab the GAPPS package from the wiki (link below) and flash it over your current ROM (no need to wipe first) to get the Market, Gmail, etc... back.
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php?title=Passion:Installing_CyanogenMod
I notice if you go to cyanogenmod website and click on downloads and then experimental and you see CM6.1 RC2 and if you click on it it says you can not download it anymore because it was reported as broken because not having Market or gmail.
On the same website if you go to forums and then see nexus one it will give you a link to download it from the links they have on that forum....so my question is which one is really true?
any ideas?
Considering I'm running CM6.1 RC2 with everything working perfectly, I'd say it's not a problem with the build....
Edit: I just checked the page - you can actually still download the zip. Someone just reported the file as broken, but that isn't a note from the devs (they have better grammar).
CM Roms haven't included Google apps in a long time.
Google asked that their programs weren't included because they are copyrighted material. Android being open, you can still download the GAPPS (Google Apps) pack and flash over CM's latest.
This has been the method as long as I've been on Android.
I got downloaded it from your xda website and it works!!!...now can someone tell me what is the mayor changes from CM6.0 and CM6.1 RC2? the only thing I can notice is the fm radio...anybody can tell me what also is good with this ROM?
By the way....I love cyanogenmod!!...much better than the stock one!...Keep up with the good work developers!
Anybody has some input as what is da mayor change between CM 6.0 and CM6.1 RC2?...i want to explore my new ROM....any ideas where should i start?

You could do a little Google'ing and find out...maybe a search for "CyanogenMod Changelog"?

As the title suggests, I'm running CM 6.1.1 on my G2 and the Market app itself won't auto-update OTA. Still running version 2.2.6, latest is 2.3.4. Anyone else have this problem, and/or know of a fix? It's never auto-updated. When I first flashed CM 6.1.1 it was running the old Market and I had to manually flash the 2.2.6 version. It wouldn't update by itself.
It's just the plain Market, no themes.
Thanks.
I'm having this problem, as well.
i could be wrong, but does cm6 have a program called fotakill? (sorry i never used 6 only CM7 nightly roms) iirc from reading around on a google search, fotakill detaches your apps from the market to prevent updating?
I am having the same issues as well .
the new gapps package has the new market included in it....
I am not sure if you can install the package over your currently installed apps.....
if you do a fresh cyanogen install and install the new package.... you should be fine.
thats how I did it
I wonder if this is the reason im having issues with my apps updating . They will
not update until you move the app to the phone , otherwise if theyre on the SD
you will constantly get a "Update was unsuccessful" error .

I am running CM 6.1 and my market has not updated for quite some time. I believe its version 1.82...
I have no problem updating any of the apps on my phone. A few days ago I have the "unsuccessful" error for a bit on ALL apps. Tried it a few hours later and worked fine. Not sure what the problem was, but other than that once instance, haven't had issues.
It is said that the new Market is having some issue with the CM 6.1.1, (market verison is only 1.8 on my CM 6.1.1 ) it is recommended you flash the latest gapps through recovery.
Where is the latest Gapps ?

That's not any newer than what CyanogenMod has listed on the Wiki.
Right. Based on what that table says, the newest gapps are for CM7 only.

Hi guys! Here is the updated GAPPS.
I will keep this topic updated everytime a new GAPPS is released.
Gingerbread:
GAPPS GB 20120116 - Market 3.4.4
Ice Cream Sandwich:
GAPPS ICS 20120131 - No Facelock - Market 3.4.4 - Car Home
Ice Cream Sandwich GAPPS was stripped down to fit on our small system partition. After flashing CM 9.0 and GAPPS you will have 36kb of space left.
If you are looking for the official, old gapps, you can download the official Goo-inside.me app from the Market to get a direct link for the download.
Here it is: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.s0up.goomanager
Thank you very much
Thanks glad to see it bundled with the new market.

Hi guys! I took the lastest available gapps (gb-20110828) and added the new Market 3.3.11.
Since I haven't found any new gapps in a while I decided to update it by myself. It's working perfectly, so enjoy.

Thanks a million! I installed it on my Optimus V, which had lost its GPS chip (showed lat & long as 0.0000). After install and reboot, it started working again! OK, probably just needed the restart. Still, thanks for posting that.

This the 2.35 version with the new market added. If so already got it from rom manger and they also have the latest market version
LG O1 Running Cm7 Mik_OS 2.37
Anyone else finding the new market, well unreliable? When I got to the website on my pc and install from there, no problem. Yet very often the new market wont even load the landing page, just sits there spinning till I eventually kill it. Before it was nice and fast and I used to do everything from the device, last night I couldnt even get it to load the my apps page.
Thanks, I just install a custom kernel/ROM in my O1 and when I dont see the Android Market I freak out, Google bring me here anyways xD
Thanks for sharing this file.
The new market is really laggy on LG O1.
Thank you
Thanks! This is really good. I don't have to update everything everytime i flash a new rom
Topic updated with lastest GAPPS by temasek.
How can I replace the new market with the previous android Market (say 2.2.11 or something like it ) in the latest gapps and make it flashable??
the new 3.x.x versions take too much time to load
Sorry, I dont know how to do it

The latest Market is actually loading really fast.
If you want to have old market you will first have to delete maketupdater.apk from the System.
Then install the market you want.
Give me the Market version you want to have and I will make you a flashable zip of gapps without maketupdater.apk so you can install a new ROM.
Sorry guys, I unlocked, rooted and flashed the latest EOS nightly #33. All has gone well, but I cant see the Market app, or find a way to link my Google account to get my calendar, mail and apps restored.
Could someone nudge me in the right direction please?!
thanks
EDIT - In case anyone has this problem, the link to the GA package is below:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1396251
You'll need to install the GApps package linked in the thread for the ROM. AOSP ROMs generally do not include the Google Apps by default and must be installed separately.
There should be a .zip file you can flash from recovery.
You need to flash gapps as those are google apps and required to be a separate download. Check the eos thread, they link the latest gapps there (v8 I believe)

ok thanks, will look now, and any ideas about the Android Market app?
You could try uninstalling the Market App in the settings and then have it redownload the market. That should work.
It came with the Google Apps package - I have included the link in my first post just in case anyone has the same problem. Thanks for you help all
thanks again
I recently installed the newest MIUI build which is running pretty stable for me however the latest Whatsapp is not installing (says it's incompatible...). I found this thread which tells me that I can install an old version of the program and be able to run it, however every time I open it, it asks me to update to the newer version (and surprise! Whatsapp doesn't "support" custom ROMs). Is there any way to trick the Market (or "Play"...horrible name btw) to install? Thanks!!
I couldn't did it in the market or restore it from tibu backup either

Seems like there's an update addressing problems with the Market...let's see how it goes!
google for whatsapp apk and install it manually BANG
rather go to whatsapps website on your phone and it will let you download latest version....
I would post this in the development thread but it won't let me as I don't have enough posts.
I installed this rom and I was really impressed with the speed etc but it was running the 3.1 market. I got hold of a 3.5.19.apk and tried to install it but it just said "Application not installed" so I got some ICS gapps and flashed that and now I have the play store but when I open it up it asks me to add a google account, I say yes and it closes and puts me back to the home screen.
How can I make the play store work in this rom?
The ICS gaps won't work in gb, try flashing the latest gapps for gb then it should automatically update to the play store.

Fixed
I just thought I'd reply to this in case anyone else had this issue at any point. I tried to flash over the GB gapps from the link you sent but it didn't change anything. Same problem. I resigned myself to thinking I'd just have to dealing with using the old market when all of a sudden play instaled itself over the top. So it seems in future wait 24 hours and it should sort itself out.

yeah, if you flash a gapps package that makes it crash you normally have to re-flash the rom and then a new package or just wait for the original to update itself
