Hi,
is there any possibility to read PDFs with play book.
After a long search I finally found the folder in which the files of play book are stored. But these are only crpytic files.
And copying the pdf in there doesn't work.

books library?

hi,
i'm using my trinity a lot for books reading. i have them in *.txt format. i would like a suggestion of a program/database that will allow me to put them all together and view them easily, as well as search the text within them.
thank you very much
For putting them together you can use mobipocket reader (google it - the app is free) - desktop version can convert some formats, including .txt into its own file format and allows you to organise your books, sync them with your phone, etc.. I'm not sure about searching inside a book though.
you can also use ms free ebook reader they got a various formats->lit converter

[Q] WHSmith app (storage)

Got my tab a few days ago and just in the process of redeeming my voucher codes... The WHSmith app is HORRIBLE, was hoping that any books I downloaded I would be able to import them into another e-reader, however I cant find where the WHSmith app stores my books?
Does anyone know if it's possible? Or am I required to use the WHSmith app?
i couln't find them on the STG either, i went to the W H Smith sight on my pc, downloaded them from there & then transferred them to my STG external mem card with Kies, then i imported them into my Aldiko reader, works fine for me
the pc sight is --- whsmith.gospoken.com/secure/force;jsessionid=B755B03BE4AB35B6DEFFDAE0A9A049E7
Thanks for the tip!
I've gone through the WHSmith site, Installed adobe editions, but the only file I can download from the WHSmith site is a .acsm file at only 2kb?
What/Where was the file you transfered to your tab?
Some books come through as epub which is easily transferred to tab and opened.
Other are ascm which need to be opened with Adobe digital editions software on PC. Trying to work out how to convert them at the moment. Let me know if you sort it.
OK,
Open Adobe digital editions.
Drag the .acsm file onto the open window
Look in "c:\my documents\My Digital Editions"
There's the .epub file
Problem is eBook app on tab does not recognise the file type. Tries to import it but fails
Adobe Digital Editions help says:
Connect your compatible ebook reader and it will appear as a bookshelf in the library.
This could be the end of the road.
I installed Adobe Digital Editions, clicked on the "Book Title.acms" file & it opened in the ADE, I then went to the My Digital Editions folder and copied "Book Title.epub" & "Book Title.png" (from the thumbnails folder) to my SGT My Files/ebook/import, then i clicked the "Book Title.epub" file, selected "Aldiko" as the program to open it in, selected the import option that opened, the book then opened in Aldiko & is listed on the bookshelf

[Q] Odd sideloading in library

Okay, so here's my problem with sideloaded content, and I don't quite know what's going on here.
I have a rooted (via manual nooter) 2.1 Nook Color. I can put books on my NC via Calibre and they'll show up in the library. If I download an ePub from the web, and place them in the /sdcard/my files/books folder, they DO NOT show up.
However, if I download the books through Aldiko, and then move the EPUB FILE ONLY, not the folder, it will show up in the library although with a different cover, I'm guessing I need to do an epub to epub conversion to get that, it might just be displaying the first page.
What does Calibre do that moving the file will not? And why would it show up after Aldiko downloads it and moves it. I have a feeling there is something missing from just the ePub and I can't figure it out.

Looking for a file browser to open books in different apps

I use Cool Reader to view most of my eBooks because it is the most compatible reader I could find (I have a mutt library). It is also easy to navigate and read, unlike apps like Mantano which have tiny useless buttons all over the place. I don't use Adilko because it forces the user to import books into its library, effectively requiring double the space for eBooks: space for my hand-sorted eBook library, and space for its own library. I use BeamReader to view my PDFs because it's the only app I've found that has a text wrap feature. I haven't picked out a comic viewer yet.
I am looking for a browser that can open all non-PDF books in Cool Reader, PDFs in BeamReader, and comics in a comic viewer. I have tried using Root Explorer to open books, but it only works with BeamReader for PDFs. I think it opens .txt files in its own reader.
Is there any single file browser I can use to open all of my eBooks? I'm open to both free and paid options.
Have you tried "Rhythm Software File Manager"?
I use it to open every existing format.
Just remember to associate file extensions with the right apps.
I'm sure it works for CR (html, txt, chm), ezPDF (pdf), ebooka pdf (djvu) opera (htm, html, mht), Documents To Go 3.0 (doc, ppt) and so on..

Click to collapse
I just installed it, and I love it. It opens all my files perfectly, it has a great interface, and it even has root r/w support. Thanks for the recommendation!

[Q] Epub to epub links

I want to create a catalog epub for my UNrooted NST.
The catalog epub will have embedded links (likely html) that, when clicked in the Nook's built-in Reader program, would open another epub in the NST library.
Each page of the catalog epub will give a little info about the book.
Question: what link must I embed in the catalog epub to jump to another book in my sideloaded NST library?
I hope something like this is possible: Sherlock Holmes
Any ideas? Anybody else tried custom programming HTML in and epub to do anything beyond jumping to different sections of a book?
Will probably not work:

The main problem seems to be that the Reader doesn't follow external links.
Put in a link for Google and it flashes but goes nowhere.
(At least that is what 5 minutes of experimenting leads me to believe.)
If it did handle links well you could just write something to handle intents for your own schema.
Then you could write A story or whatever you like.
