A500 dead? - Acer Iconia A500

I've noticed that the development thread has been dead for a while. Either the developers have left a500, or they''re really busy. I'm just not used to seeing this much quiet forum activity, as my old phone Samsung Galaxy ace had/has development activity practically everyday.
I just hope the developers get some free time to continue development, especially on Jelly bean

Is that the 4.1, or 4.2 Rom? There are some features that I prefer in 4.2.

Well Acer has moved on, this is/was a great tablet, and with the help of Civato, Pj etc it still has legs. I have a Nexus 10, and both myself and the family use both with no probs. So that says something for the work the Devs do here....

Just wondering what everyone thinks of the wonderful 4.1 world to come and if people will leave tw or ics behind for some jbs. Also if ICS roms like aokp or remics along with others will make the move or if we need some all new ones? Thoughts?

Just a pure suggestion but you should probably find a new hobby

To add some substance to this thread and prevent lockdown, I'm going to say any ICS ROM with a large user base will be ported over. Not going to JB doesn't make sense because its ICS... but better.
I'm sure once Samsung releases JB TW for the GS3 that ports will be made.

I thiiink we will just merge over as well. jb is got a nice new interface that keeps me on it.
So instead of bashing on someones post how about you answer it or just leave it alone? Gees it seems like I cant't view a thread anymore without people thinking they are so awesome, if you think you are so cool on xda look at this:

Tablet UI.

Which ROM has the best Tablet UI?
Sent from my PG86100 using xda app-developers app
Without a doubt, AOKP.
Might as well asked what's the best ROM... nobody can tell YOU what the best rom is. You're just gunna get a bag of opinions. Just go flash one please.

I don't want to know the best one. Just the one with the most tablet UI features.

AOKP always has some nice features. Most of them get ported to Codename Android (CNA).
I don't know what CM offers for tablet mode.
ParanoidAndroid has some wonderful settings that let you decide how each app behaves. I like it a lot, but I couldn't find the ability to add additional software buttons, Linario combines AOKP and Paranoid, but I just didn't like it as much as CNA.
I keep meaning to try others but that's all I've really had time for at the moment...

Just bought 2nd N7

after doing what I would now consider (dumb as ****) OTA updates....what would you all recommend i do as far as unlock...root...and rom? or if i stay stock no updates.......what would you do?
4.2 is as fast as any of the 4.1.2 custom roms / kernels that i have run in the past and i have tried most of them, i am currently running stock rom rooted with lean kernel which is a nice combination until some custom roms come out
Sent from my ASUS Transformer Pad TF700T using xda app-developers app
It all depends on what you plan to do with it. Personally, I require root because of otg+host mode charging, among many other reasons. Each person is different in what they want and or require. You could use the first to experiment with different things and leave the new one stock till you find a configuration you like. Good luck!

Would recommend just keeping stock until more 4.2 Roms become available, or flash the rooted 4.2 stock image that was released.
Paranoid android is releasing 4.2 tomorrow
What are those things on XDA no one listens to? Oh yea, rules. What the hell does this have to do with android development? If you have questions post in the Q&A.

Where did you hear this, I looked through the last 5-6 pages of the paranoid android thread. I am very excited if it's true, but how because it is based on CyanogenMod and 10.1 is not released yet...

[Q] Want to downgrade to 4.1?

Currently running 4.2.1 and very pleased with it. But occasionally need to run an app. that no longer works on 4.2. But it does work on 4.1.
Was thinking I'd like to be able to flash a 4.1 ROM when I want. Is that possible; if so which ROM please, a CM ROM would be great?
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda premium
Can't, 4.1 was never released on the nexus4.
You're better off contacting that developer and time to upgrade

There will never be a downgrade to a firmware that was never on the device in the first place. The N4 was released with 4.2, and no developer will create a 4.1 ROM for it

Shame, but I had expected that would be the answer
It's the MM Tracker application that is stuck only working on 4.1. Sadly the developer has had some hassle and isn't permitted to update anymore. Something in 4.2 broke it.

I suppose an Optimus G Rom can't be modded to work on our N4? Bluetooth issues are driving me nuts,
Edit: Never mind the Optimus G Forum is dead right now :cyclops:

Always buy a product for what it is and Never for what u hope it will become.. development for this tablet will come and grow as time goes on.. I found out this tablet came out in August but i didn't know about it until i was doing Christmas shopping.. People are saving up or haven't heard about it yet.. Just be happy for the developers we do have now.. We already got the best tablet on the market so only a little work need to be done to it.. Doing ports are useless knowing we will lose some features..
I have the tmobile galaxy s2 and the development grew so much after some time. And its just T-Mobile. There is still a lot of development even with galaxy s3 out. Just be patient or learn to dev yourself.

Developers are people too, they decide what they want in/as a device and no number of threads saying we need more devs is going to change thst.

The current crop of ROMS available are very good, not really sure much more is required. If you have something specific you required why not PM one of the current devs and make a donation
