[Q] Spontaneous reboots - Galaxy Y GT-S5360 and Duos 6102 Q&A, Help & Troubl

Can some one give some info on how i can determine where the spontaneous reboots come from on my phone. Of it a software or hardware related problem is? I already tryed another firmware with odin. But it still happens on ocassion.

Try using a different kernel
The two that work with all roms here are
Whitexp 1.1.3
Hells fusion #63
Both you will need to flash whitexp wifi driver after
Also make sure you have no scripts in etc/init.d folder that are causing problems if you have flashed any mods eg adrenaline engine

The original sgy rom is still used,i want to know where i can find these folders with those scripts. And is there a corpse cleaner that i can use, that cleans the phone from already removed apps. The phone is also not rooted.

[Solved] Restoring stock kernel via cwm ?

Hello,
First post on xda !
I readed lot of thread about sgy and have made many tests.
I got incredible battery autonomy improvement with the kuro kernel :good:
I will test others kernel to compare
Is there a way to backup the stock kernel and restore it with cwm
In order to test kernels quickly, i searched in many thread but have not found.
Thanks !
Same procedure with install custom kernel..
Extract boot.img from pdaXxx.tar (stock rom from doky thread)
Put in /sdcard/boot.img
Install with mai77 method use SGYbiCWM.zip with cwm-recovery from madteam/skin.
Read 1-10post in basic newbie guide from ronnieryan in sticky general section.
Welcome to xda and try with search and read important thread first before ask or open new thread.

I readed the basic thread but i did not understand about the KernelUpdate.zip
Many thanks it's work now
Unfortunately, i can not install your kernel. I have try flashing directly savieREV1_Kernel.zip but it's block on the boot logo. I also tried to extract the boog.img from the package and flash with KernelUpdate but it's the same thing... I'm back on kuro. (using XXLF3 stock rom)
Not tried the merruk at the moment

KernelUpdate.zip from harrish?
Im not use that to coz to complicated
The simple method is from mai77 coz u not need put boot.img into zip file like faqbly method.
For my kernel just make sure u have sysinit in system/bin and 99complete in system/etc/init.d (those file from draktemor script) before installing.
I never try any custom rom only stock rom and never have problem with my kernel. I never release it if im not sure its working but if its make problem just i word "not compatible"
Ok thanks i have to make more search about the method mai77 and draktemor script, and retry your kernel
I prefer keep the stock rom at the moment... but i'm interresting to test the kernels !

But dont install draktemor-a2sd im affraid u will get problem again if u use my kernel
Just copy paste and change permission..
Theres a lot of kernel now. U can choose, try, and compare which one is more near with ur need.
Kuro v.1.0 or White v.1.0 is the best kernel for stock rom coz its minimalis kernel with little modification so all features near with stock kernel.
Merruk and latest White kernel is advance kernel coz there alot modification so must prepare backup before try (nandroid backup via cwn and stockrom backup via odin)

I see that the bmlunkock is in the KernelUpdate.zip.
I have found this mai77 method here
It's work fine to restore a stock rom boot.img
I don't find mai77 method without the KernelUpdate but i keep the searchs !
kurotsugi i have tested your kernel some days it's work very well !
haha...my kernel isn't as good as savie's. In most aspect his kernel is better and he's more well versed in kernel development.
I do more read and search and re-test it !
P.S. : the captcha are hard :cyclops:
Ah ok you include the bmlunkock in your kernel.zip
After many tentatives failed to install savie's kernel :crying:
I tried the white 0.8.0 RC3 with success and very easily and work very fine
please can someone give a way to install savie's kernel step by step and give links necessary
i haeve made
- The start step a fresh XXLF3 stock rom flashed
- I'm not afraid do reflash a stock rom, i have already done many times.
- I'm not afraid about data, i have the kies backup of my contacts, the sql lite contacts2.db from /data, the only thing i want to keep is this but i think it's done, don't care
Thanks all !
Finally I succeeded install the savie kernel
[email protected] #60
All freq and gov works :good:
Let's go to give some thanks in this thread !

Great's I will try it
- My first mistake was to not read enough the savie thread and links associated.
- My second mistake i tried in first step to install Bacem and GovIO Tweak before the kernel... But the kernel already integrated this.
- Savie should add this on the first post of the thread please !
savie said:
I dont have creeds so i dont know its work or not..
Manual method In stock rom
- create init.d folder /system/etc/init.d
- copy 99complete to system/etc/init.d
- copy sysinit to system/bin
Ps.those file from draktemor-script
- install kernel
Maybe that step can use in creeds too..
Click to collapse
- And maybe give the link to the draktemor-script in the repencis thread... here (a2sd.zip)
It's very good kernel
Now i will try the dual boot and test CM7 but i read more before !
but don't install the draktemor-script
Just extract and copy this files :
- before create init.d folder /system/etc/init.d (stock rom and stock kernel without init.d support)
- copy 99complete to system/etc/init.d
- copy sysinit to system/bin
- fix the permissions
savie add this in your 1 post thread may make som noobs happy

Savie's Kernel compatibility with Data2SD of Kurutsogi

Good day!
Sir Savie and Sir Kurutsogi I would like to ask regarding kernel. By the way I am using stock rom DXLF1 and with Data2SD of Kurutsogi http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1622052 wherein my sd card has ext3 partition and the internal memory was changed from 290mb to 1gb.
My questions are:
1. If I will use the kernel of Savie (which was used in Icecream Bread rom and EVO X2 rom), will my current Data2SD will still work? If possible where can I get the boot.img file of Savies kernel? Also Sir Savie I was confused when I was reading you thread on kernel, Sir Savie can I get a link from you on the kernel that was used in Icecream Bread rom and Evo X2 rom?
2. If I have installed your kernel Sir Savie, is there a need to install app like the Nofrills CPU or CPU tuner in order to fully used the functions of kernel like changing the governors, i/o sched and frequencies? Or in you kernel, the said apps (CPU Tuner etc.) is already included and once your kernel is installed, all is done?
3. For my usage of SGY wherein, I have the Ram Manager Pro app, Start Up Auditor app, will it still be needed once I used your kernel Sir Savie? What settings should i used in the governors, i/o sched and frequencies if I only used my phone only for texting, calling, playing games (some HD games like assassins creed) fpse emulator, mp3 listening? Currently now my phone can get 88 to 98 mb RAM usage whenever I used the Easy task killer during making my phone iddle? Will this also possible when using Sir Savies kernel?
Sir Savie and Sir Kurutsogi hoping for your response and I would like to apologize to other XDA members for my questions and hoping for your kind understanding.
Thank you
am I dreaming? (lol)
EDIT: please forgive me. I never saw a question addressed politely like this one
1. if you're using my data2sd kernel, then the answer is no. you still can use this data2sd by creating a script in init.d folder. plz check additional stuff section in that thread. you don't need to clean your sdext partition. follow the step 1-4, reboot, done. this method have several bug, I hope you understand with the risk.
2. I don't know if savie include the app inside the zip file. you need to install them manually. nofrills is commonly enough for the govs n iosched modification. no need to use cpu tuner if you already have nofrills.
3. less ram doesn't always give good performance in android system. using a tweak is a lot better than clear the ram manually since it consume your battery a lot. the explanation is quite long. try to google it a lil bit.

Sir Kurotsugi thank you for your response. My apology for the polite posting. Its just I am new comer here and want to learn a lot from you experts.
Sir in your reply in question #1, it only means that data2sd can be used in savies kernel by creating script init.d folder but it results to bugs. So would it be best if I use savies kernel just used link2sd in order to save the 290 mb internal memory?
Lastly Sir in question #3 it is better to use custom kernel to achieve better ram management and battery used instead of my stock apps ram mgr pro start up auditor and easy task killer?
Sir please kindly reply if I got your advises correctly.
Thank you
savie's kernel support a lot of similar method like a2sd++, amarullz, sem, etc. you can try to use my akuro if you lil bit lazy to google it. for the ram question stuff, you can read this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1767363&page=120

Also Sir Savie may I ask again, If I would be using a custom rom and your kernel, will this procedure be the best in order to avoid problems.
1. Flash first in chosen Stock ROM
2. Wipe data and dalvik cache
3. Install the custom rom
4. Install the savie kernel.
Sir hoping for your response and please forgive me If I have so many questions. Thank you for your support

Good day!
Sir Savie, I have successfully installed you kernel #73REV together with rom Next to ICS by Avijit Ghosh82 in my SGY.
Sir I have some observations regarding your kernel and hoping for your comment or advise. Please see below.
1. When Installed your kernel, I followed everything on your thread wherein use CWM Skin 180, i mount the system, then do custom installation so I can add up other governors, other io scheds, bacem tweak, and all other items found in the custom installation window. Then began installing. After installation it displayed success but in the upper portion (I forgot the exact term) written with the count is displayed 0. Then after exiting the installation window it show up installation success savie in the CWM Skin 180 window. Then I reboot. After reboot, I checked the Settings and Info, in the kernel, it shows the old stock kernel. So i repeat the whole process again 2 times but still stock old kernel name display in the Settings.
What I did is that I do the whole process again but I do not mount the system in CWM. Then after installing and rebooting and checking again in the Settings, it showed up the the name of your kernel.
Sir Savie, is there any effect with what I did when I don't mount the system at CWM but it installed successfully and the name of your kernel appears in the Setting Menu- About the Phone menu? Please enlighten me.
2. Upon installation I noticed some of the governors and io sched in the CPU master is not showing up. So I read your thread again and see the something screw in #73REV kernel in you thread and followed step 2 installation wherein I downloaded and extracted the GovIO-tweak-1.zip then copy all the files in the modules then paste it on the /sdcard/.system-replacer/lib/modules/* then reboot. After I checked in CPU Master, there is some 3 or 4 governors lacking and io sched all are present.
Sir Savie, will there any problems arise if it lacks 3 or 4 governors?
3. Then I also notice in the main option of CPU Master is use max 312 min 156 then smartassv2 then tick the apply on boot then at the io sched I selected sio then apply. Whenever I shutdown then turn it on again, in the CPU Master it boot up the settings in the main menu i encoded which is max 312 min 156 then smartassv2 there i have no problem because CPU Master follows my setting. But in the io sched same scenario off then on SGY from my original setting sio it always choose deadline.
Sir Savie how can I make sio as the default selection whenever I turn off/on SGY?
4. In the CPU Master I dont see the option for changing the undervolting. Sir is it okay I I don't have the option for changing the volt and run the default volt in #73REV kernel which is -80mV?
5. I used Link 2sd because the data2sd of Sir Kuro doesn't work on your kernel then i link the CPU master in SD card. Sir Savie, will there be problems in terms of using the CPU Master when loading or changing governors or io sched?
Sir Savie my apologies If I have so many observation. Sir Savie hoping for your kind responses with my 5 questions.
Thank you

If u in 73rev so just make sure in recovery mode (cwm) u mount /system before install zip package like re-install savie73rev_kernel.zip..
Dont worry in count 0 coz its bugs from aroma..

Green fuzz in camera using kernel by whitexp

I am using a GT-S5360T which is Telecom NZ version of Galaxy Y. I seem to be able to install most custom roms released for GT-S5360 fine, but. When using whitexp kernal with stock rom or latest cm7 release I have a green fuzz when accessing camera app. I see other threads with similar problem but nothing pertaining to my particular model.
I have two questions;
1. Is this because my model has the " T " at the end?
2. How can I fix this?
If some one could point me in the right direction I would greatly appreciate it.
well,
for the reason why it has that green fuzz i have exactly no idea since im not the developer of the kernel,
however,
try to use another kernel besides white's kernel,
or contact the dev or post in his kernel thread for further info
this post is approved by the national potato safety regulation
Thanks for reply. I would post there, but..

I get the " you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons: " screen when I try to post in the kernel thread. I think cause I'm newbie.
I like this kernel because it boots fast, it has cwm and my boot animation and power on sound play properly. Everything else seems to work with it i.e. busy box, root browser, link2sd, superuser, sys app installer and beats audio drivers and all the standard apps that don't require rooting it is just the camera.
One thing that I can say is that your "T" isnt the cause for this. T just indicates your region, its fine to install any ROM/kernel based on S5360. You might need to contact whitexp for the solution..
I will try contact White..

Thanks, now I know my model isn't the problem I will try contact White... I wonder if anyone else has had the same problem or if everyone else has the same problem, I see no mention of it being a bug.
with CM7, you can have this error
But not with Strock rom ..
I only use my kernel and a lot of other people also not ..
and nobody had this problem with stock rom or custom roms like Creeds, repencis etc.;;
Stock rom & white0.8.0RC3 flashed with Odin3 V1.85

I can get Camera to work with your kernel by flashing the PDA and MODEM pieces of the Brazil GT-S5360B firmware before flashing the white.1.3.3 in Odin.
Only problem I have then is my phone doesn't know which way is up or down unless I turn off auto rotate. Then when I flash WhiteXP the WiFi stops working.

Does any body know how to fix the problem with the screen rotation?

"Android is Updating" on Every Boot

I've tried searching for a fix to the "Android is Updating" on Every Boot problem with no avail.
I am rooted on stock and have tried to uninstall and reinstall TBP. This did not solve the problem. I read something about moving odex files around in the /data/app but there are only apk's
I have Currents, Earth, Magazine, iWnn, Picasa and Set-up Wizard frozen.
Have you run any scripts for "supercharging" or similar?
your dalvik is getting wiped on every boot. its either the rom, kernel, mod, or a root app that you enabled it in.
Did you have disabled/frozen apps then done a davlik cache clearance ?
if so try enabling them and maybe reset davlik again.

That much I have gathered from looking around for a solution. Stock rom (rooted), 3.4.0-perft-ge039dcb kernal and I used the wugfresh toolkit for rooting

yup, and that didn't fix the issue
I have the same on my N4 and N7.
On the N4 I didn't freeze any application, on N7 Currents is frozen.
I am wondering whether this happens because I integrated sys Dalvik into ROM with Titanium Backup
Has anyone found a solution to this problem?

yes. its either a mod that you flashed(sound mod, or a supercharger script, etc..), the kernel youre using, or a root app that you use, that has an option that you have enabled.

I haven't installed a sound mod. I don't think I have a supercharger script
I am using kernel 3.4.0-perf-g7ce11cd (if that says anything)
Root app?
Could you help break this down for me a bit more simms? I'm not a complete newb but let's just say I am FAR from being a pro lol

na, i was looking for an init.d folder. that means its not a script that was set into that folder. is it a custom kernel that you are using, or just the stock kernel that comes with the stock rom? do you use anykind of root only apps that have multitudes of options to change things around? are you willing to try another rom or kernel?

Kernel is custom i believe.
Root only apps? Yes, TB is one of them (which I uninstalled to see if that was causing the problem). ROM Manager (which I just uninstalled as well), BusyBox, SuperSU and Online Nandroid.
Rooted but stock, no custom ROM. I don't mind trying out a new ROM and kernel if that is going to solve the annoying issue

rom manager has such an option(wipe dalvik) i believe.
1. you can try to factory reset, then reboot after booted up, before installing any apps(make a nandroid backup in your recovery first, so you can restore it if needed).
2. try a different kernel. if still happening, try a different rom.
3. rom manager is one of my most hated apps

I did a couple of factory resets a few months ago when I was having camera/gallery issues. I had no apps installed (aside from those that came with the phone) and was getting the annoying "android is upgrading" message.
I've read good things about the Franco Kernel and found this site with a few options but I am not sure which one to flash. Any suggestions?
I've learned to dislike it myself and hence why I just uninstalled it a few

ok, so if its doing it, without any app installed, nor rom manager, and the rom is completely stock, then the chances are that its the kernel. btw, i highly recommend the rasbean jelly rom. its very clean, with only added mods(not everything plus the kitchen sink), and very highly praised by many. if you want a stock experience, with a few additions, rasbean is great.

I've actually enjoyed stock on my Nexus (I can't say the same about the other phones I've had lol). What you describe for rasbean sounds tempting!! is it on the list of ROMs?

I thought about it but do not know if it's enough. Anyway, thank you!
Look what's inside update.zip or similar zip and copy its content to the same location in your custom ROM

how it executes and how it runs,

No problem. Just press the thanks button if I helped  Additional answer: Find the update.zip(or the file needed to root your device) then you can find inside it the superuser app and three files. (I don't know what's the file format ) I think, in my opinion, you can put that in your rom. But be sure it's a zip file. I checked my update.zip file and I had found that files

If I do it the updater-script will be changed, i.d. the commands to flash the ROM will be changed and it'll not install, just the root acess will.
I'm thinking... if I put the commands the updater-script together?
Anyway, I'll study more.
