Hi guys,
I'm having a problem with my Defy, I can't seem to connect any of the google apps. This was working fine and suddenly stopped working.
Can't login to Gtalk, can connect to Play Store or Gmail.
What I've tried:
-Wipe Cache
-Wipe Dalvik's Cache
-Re-Set Date/Time
-Uncheck / Check Background Data under Account's and Sync
-Toggling on/off Airplane Mode
-Rebooting
-Setting IP to static
I'm Using the latest stable versión of CM 7.2, with default kernel and settings.
Also, internet seems to work fine, it's just the google apps. (Maps does work)
Any ideas on what can be causing this ?? I really do not want to do a factory reset / wipe data. =(
EDIT: Also my wifi icon is grayed and not green.
EDIT 2: Ok, I've managed to fix it. Did a complete data wipe and re-flashed CM7.2 Now everything is working again. Thanks everyone. =)

How do I do it?
I've tried to add a new account to delete de old one, but it doesn't let me. It says "no connection" or something, so the new account cannot be added. =(

I know others have experienced this error. No one mentions a fix. Just flashed lightspeed 4.3 and its virtually unusable without being able to download from the market. Can some kind soul enlighten me?

This self resolved after about 30 minutes of trying.
When that happened to me I deleted the market and flashed newer gapps

Before doing all that, try clearing cache and data from the Market (now called "Google Play Store") in App settings. That did the trick for me.
I had to manually select my Gmail account from within Google Play..
how I fixed

if you're not using Clockwork rom manager you should. I have cwm5.0 and I rooted my phone with cm9-ics and was getting a 921 error. I went and ran the "permissions fix" in CWM and everything works fine now
Permissions fix in recovery can cause its own set of problems, like borking your contacts photos, and a couple other things I can't remember off-hand. Easily fixable, but it would probably be better to target a more specific fix for the Market/Play rather than trying such a global fix. Just my opinion...
Google Play cant update apps error 921
yo,
i am running sgs2 with CheckRom RevoHD v4 and had error 921 on google play/androidmarket. restarted phone seems fine all updates worked.
jess
This error is still happening
its not a problem with your devices, i cant even see my apps on the website. its a google play glitch and is wide spread but not every device appears to be affected in the same way. very strange.
i have tryed all fixes and still the same
921 could be only CM
After installing 3.5.16 it gave me the 921 error.
I have a Moto XT701, and I use ava's version of CM7.
could this be related to CM specifically? Anyone got the error with a stock ROM?
next time it happens can you log into google talk, I remember back in the day if that wasnt signed in market would be borked
Solution
After some digging here is what worked for me:
I added my wifes gmail account to accounts and sync
I changed google play store to the new account
I checked to see if updates were working (they were)
I changed google play store back to my account
I removed my wifes gmail account (system settings > accounts and sync > select account > remove account
It is working fine now. I can update and download without error.

Hi,
I have a Navon Platinum 10 tab, ICS 4.0.4 on it. I had this error, too.
I read some alternatives for fixing google play errors, but I tired to delete my account and add acount and clear cache and so one... I resolved that by this way:
- turn on your tab device
- do not start play store application!
- in Settings-->Applications menu, on All tab search for gogle play application, and clear cahe and data too. You need to do this only once time.
- run Root Browser on your device ( if you have'n this, than download, install, or you may use Root Explorer if you have)
- find vending.apk in System/App folder
- long click on it, a local menu will appear. Chose Permissions.
- set permissons 777 for this file ( klikk on every checkbox).
- close all running apps
-restart your device, and enjoy
It works fine, Since I set this permissions, I don't get any errors from google play,
Hope, it will helps.
P.S.: sorry for my misstakes in english language
I have defy running 4.1 through CM10.
everything was working fine until last week I was unable to sync my google account or open the play store.
I made a search through XDA and google. I tried everything:
- wipe cache
- delete account and add it again (I couldn't add the account with error message)
- clear data from google services in the app manager
- try to sign in via youtube app
- remove the sim and/or sdcard
- using wifi and/or 3G
- access the internet through hotspot
- wipe everything and install a clean ROM again
- sign in or create another account
But with no success
Do you have another ideas or solutions?

Reflash a stock rom, link https://dl.google.com/dl/android/aosp/occam-jdq39-factory-345dc199.tgz. Here is how you do it http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2010312.
As far as I searched, these are the solutions:
- check your phone date ("The SSL certificate contains a expiration date which would be compared against the system date of the Android system. If the system date is too far in the past or in the future, the validation would be failed, thus the connection cannot be established. This is a security measures of the HTTPS connection, so check your system date next time encountering such strange error message." as stated here)
- root and delete the file, as rabbit140 said
- do a factory reset
I've also found:
1. Open Settings.
2. Select Applications.
3. Select Manage Applications.
4. Tap the All tab, then scroll down and select Google Play Store.
5. Select Clear cache.
6. Back out of the screen and select Download Manager (May also be listed as “Downloads”).
7. Select Clear data.
8. Also clear data for Google Services Framework, Google Apps, Google Talk, and Checkin Service. Some users are reporting they had to clear data for the Browser app as well. You may not see all of these apps listed on your particular phone.
-------------------------------------------------------OR----------------------------------------------------
1) Remove sim card.
2) Go to settings->applications and clear everything (not just google apps)one by one.
3) Reboot the device
4) And add your google account.
Dunno if this can help.
Remove Sim card and go to backup and reset and do a factory data reset.
Than put your Sim card back in once you boot back up.

THANKS!!!
I thank all of you so much now my phone is back to itself...
All I did is I reflashed stock rom as @gee2012 suggested and it worked like a charm..
THANKSSSS EVERYONE WHO TRIED TO HELP ME NOW I HAVE MY PHONE BACK...:good::good:
I AM NOW
I got 4.3 by clearing the Google Service Framework cache. Now Google now does not show any of my cards; not the stock price, neither the calendar, etc.
Do you know any trick that can make google now work again?
Thank you.
Think it's cuz you cleared the cache instead of data. To fix it, I think you need to go to system settings and remove your google account then sign back in.
Wait! Before you do the above, try turning Google Now on and off first in the settings.
It worked for me.
Did any of the methods above work?
Hi... I've connected my mojo to the internet, logged into my Google account, but there is no way to download an app in the playstore. Then I tried to view a video in youtube, but there is the error 410.
The internet explorer works.
What could it be?
Thx in advance from Germany, Frank
Hello, I´m German too...
Is the Box with the orginal ROM (4.2.2) and without ROOT?
I have heard that if you uninstall the app and reinstall this may correct the Error 410 issue. But first try clearing the app data and force stop.
My Box is on the way... the Postman was not quick enough.
Yes, it is 4.2.2 and still unrooted.
And thanks a lot. I've cleared the cache of the playstore and it works now.
Thx for your quick help.
Perhaps we can share some further experience with our new mojos?
Ive rooted my Mojo but the play store does not work
cleared cache, cleared data, rebooted
Still not working, what am I doing wrong?
Hi!
You could try to clear data of the Google Services Framework / Google Login Services, too.
