Welcome aboard. All we know at the moment is that the update is being released this evening but only for the Nordic Countries. ie..Norway, Sweden etc. Other countries will be upgraded throughout the rest of November. All information is available from the SE forum in the link below.

Samsung Sweden promises Android 2.3 update in mid-April for unlocked Galaxy S, mid-May for operator-specific Galaxy S
UPDATE: Samsung Finland will release the Android 2.3 update in mid-April.
Swedish Samsung subsidiary has confirmed that the much awaited Android 2.3 update for Galaxy S is expected soon. The Gingerbread firmware is in final stages of testing and unlocked Galaxy S users can expect the update sometime in mid-April.
For Galaxy S locked to operators, the update is expected in mid-May.
Samsung will release the update via Kies.

I think that the 2.3.3 that's being leaked is great. with some modifications, it is the best ROM i have had already. we can enjoy gingerbread till it will be official.

Same press release quoted earlier is now on Samsung's Nordic branches' sites. Here is a link for the Finnish site translated through Google Translate. (The translation is what it is. Makes the point, though.)

Just called Samsung Norway - found nothing on their website - and a helpful lady called Silje informed me that android 2.3 will be out for all Norwegian networks for the SGS at the end of April.

FYI, it's on Norway's site also. This implies that Nordic users will be first to get GB - like with JS8 - but we know that Samsung procrastinates with firmware releases. We just sit back and wait.

I just sent an email the german samsung support about 2.3 - let's see if I get an answer and if so, what they say about a release

Great so Bell should be coming out with their 2.3 in about July or August then. I wonder WTF they are doing with these things in there.

Okay, the german support just replied - no specific date given, quote: "Yet, we don't have any specific information about the release date of Android 2.3". Or in german: "Wir haben noch keine genaueren Informationen über den Erscheinungstermin von Android 2.3 (Gingerbread)."

Update from german o2 online forum:
the version, which was tested and approved by o2 (Germany ?), ist this one: I9000XWJV7_XXJVK_VIAJV1

not sure but it could have something to do with the sells of the debt version it could be with the most sells so debt gets first the updates so more people will benefit from it.

So far as i remember, the Galaxy S get ihe Updates at frist time in the Scandinavian Countries (was ist XEE?), Samsung is playing, every Device becomes a home Country

I called Samsung Italy and Samsung Romania and they said there is no plan for Android 4.0 ICS for the I9100G.

Samsung Italy and Samsung Romania don't even sell the I9100G AFAIK, so they might not know what they're talking about.

Well now OP we have had may statements supposedly from Samsung in regard to various matters posted here . 99% are complete rubbish .
so much for national companies .
Will G model get the ICS update the answer is simple Samsung have signed up to the Google update policy .
All models that are hardware compatible will receive updates for at least the first eighteen months from release date .
Question is G hardware compatible if it is then sometime in the future its upgraded .

If you are asking from national companies then why posting a useless thread here,? mail them directly and ask your dumb question, don't create a panic here in xda, every one using the g model do know that they will get ics.

It will come eventually, probably by the time Android 5.0 is announced (six months?).

Samsung Netherlands confirmed to me via official twitter that ALL models of the SGS2 (also the i9100g) will get ICS. So most likely it will come, timeschedule however is unknown (as it is for the i9100)

That may be the supplied by Pixmania France as its normal for them to sell goods to other markets .

This. You can buy from Pixmania from anywhere and you will always get a I9100G with the French (XEF) firmware.

Ask him which Product Code/PDA/Phone/CSC he has then, as there is no firmware listed for Netherlands so far (http://fus.nanzen.se/). Maybe BelSimpel.nl gets its I9100G from an other country as well.
The I9100G is not listed on Samsung Netherlands site.

I opened and registered it as a tablet when I was in kenya
I'm now in the uk and can't seem to get the firmware update to ics
How do I tell which country it thinks its from for.updates?

I think all the info are on the model number and build number. So, if you haven't changed anything, it should behave like American tab!

If you're in the UK use Odin to flash the tablet to the UK ICS ROM
I have a US 10.1 in the UK and I used that method. It didn't wipe the tablet and Samsung Kies still recognises it as having official firmware

The region does not matter at all.. It's the same software and hardware for everyone.. Gosh I don't know why people gets obseced about regions...
Wanna know something? I bought my tab in canada(north america) , I live in Venezuela south America and my tab its running official ics from Italy(europe) .. And guess what... It works the exact same way like every other tab in the world... And has the same exact features

Lol that's true! But Samsung doesn't release the update worldwide at the same time. That means if you had bought it from Italy, chances are that you would have gotten the new firmware even if you lived on Mars!! I think that is the reason the OP asked this question in the first place.
