Streak experience / German release date ?!

Hi,
as you may mention I'm a german guy how is impatient of getting this nice bar in hands.
Atm I'm running a HD2 but this will be sold on thursday because of its OS, disregarded the progress in Android development.... you all know that this will never work cleanly.... not for the next year, so get the money the HD2 now is worth and don't let it addict.
SO... I wanne know if there is any release date of the Streak in Germany is leaked or better I wanne read some experiences you guys out there get with this likely device!
Please make me buff of what you know and what I like to know ^^
Maybe some specs who are not specified right or not accurate... like whats the material on the side where the buttons on or how long the battery will actually last, if you can use flashlight on taking photos, or maybe a video of the working approxi-sensor or the light sensor .....

Unfortunately Dell is really USELESS about release dates for the Streak. Constantly their online sales chat say they have no further information when I ask them about their US release date.
Their marketing for the product is rather bizarre, seems like they are doing it right in the UK though.
Eagerly waiting as well...

yhea right the same with german support, the us support and O2 germany ..... yes maybe it will not be exclusive with O2 germany but could happen ^^

I've had my Streak for a few weeks and I love it.
The material where the buttons are is black glossy plastic. My battery lasts about 2 days with normal use, which is about 1.5x the battery life of my G1 (Dream).

2.1 Discussion Thread - [READ FIRST POST] - [Stop Editing Tags]

Hey friends..
Many ppl placed there bets for 25th ie tommorow, and some for next month and some are not expecting only for 2.1
My question is how much time do you all refresh the xda general question page in a day to read something or other about 2.1?
Let me start from myself i refresh around 10 times in a an hour.
If mods find this topic silly, they can delete it

Im too busy studying for my last two exams (management and business communication) that are this coming week to keep checking, so i'll be patiently waiting, i wont update til this time next week if it comes tomorrow.

i delete all of the 2.1 threads as they turn into flame wars and petty arguments
but since thuis is about user refresh behaviour im fine with it

update imminent... the nearer it gets the higher the frequency

check xda like every few min just in case it spontaneously appeared out of nowhere and SE surprises us all

This time last month i was rabid, then the push back came and i slowed down. I check every few hours if im on a computer, but im not holding my breath thanks to previous disappointment

just a question, will i be able to update to 2.1 anytime soon? my situation is this:
i have a phone from the UK, it's not branded and it's not sim locked, i'm using it on a Croatian Tele 2 network
do i have to wait for my carrier or can i just download 2.1 once it's ready and update from seus?

You must have Generic UK, if so, yes you will update from SEUS as everyone else with generic UK

Unbranded Legend getting Froyo in few days

How do you imagine that they will put so much effort on implementing the new Sense UI in Froyo for the unbranded version of Legend? They already stated that the Vodafone branded Legends are greater number and the vodafone ROM does not include the new Sense UI

As I said i'm still deluding myself . Maybe the new sense will be "coming soon"

UPDATE: Samsung Finland will release the Android 2.3 update in mid-April.
Swedish Samsung subsidiary has confirmed that the much awaited Android 2.3 update for Galaxy S is expected soon. The Gingerbread firmware is in final stages of testing and unlocked Galaxy S users can expect the update sometime in mid-April.
For Galaxy S locked to operators, the update is expected in mid-May.
Samsung will release the update via Kies.

I think that the 2.3.3 that's being leaked is great. with some modifications, it is the best ROM i have had already. we can enjoy gingerbread till it will be official.

FYI, it's on Norway's site also. This implies that Nordic users will be first to get GB - like with JS8 - but we know that Samsung procrastinates with firmware releases. We just sit back and wait.

I just sent an email the german samsung support about 2.3 - let's see if I get an answer and if so, what they say about a release

Great so Bell should be coming out with their 2.3 in about July or August then. I wonder WTF they are doing with these things in there.

Okay, the german support just replied - no specific date given, quote: "Yet, we don't have any specific information about the release date of Android 2.3". Or in german: "Wir haben noch keine genaueren Informationen über den Erscheinungstermin von Android 2.3 (Gingerbread)."

Update from german o2 online forum:
the version, which was tested and approved by o2 (Germany ?), ist this one: I9000XWJV7_XXJVK_VIAJV1

As this is finally stated in a real honest-to-god press release from Samsung (and not on the Facebook page of the assistant receptionist for a Samsung retailing in Kazakhstan), I think this time the date can be believed...however, isn't it ALREADY mid-May? So it is rolling out any day now?
Also, looking at the list of phones Sammy is updating I think I understand better why they pulled the mid April update. Beyond needing a little more baking, they also wanted to roll out the Gingerbread update to all their relevant devices all at the same time to reap the PR noise (such as the Engadget article). Consider the mid April release a limited test run in a couple markets, I guess.
This press release are good news for many, I am sure. Me, I will continue rocking the CM7 2.3.4 goodness, thank you very much.

For the last week have been getting the message to upgrade my firmware to PDA:JS8 / PHONE:JPY / CSC:JS5 (O2I) but keeps on failing, so hopefully it will be sorted this week...;. but BTY is the 16th not the middle of the month?

But it rolled out several days, almost weeks ago? :s

Well no, if it's still on Kies for XEE and NEE.
It'll just be deployed in other countries as well. Scandinavia has always been the first to get updates.

Is it possible they meant to state "Mid June"? It seems very odd to announce a release past the middle of the month for the middle of the same month?!
