So I came across this thread by Spizzy01: (Thank Spizzy01, not me... his idea... all credit goes to him.)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=37420432#post37420432
And in post # 16, he mentions about how he contacted Qualcomm to request about updated Adreno graphics libs.. so that maybe we can get the updated graphics performances of ICS/JB while staying on GB. Which I think would be sweet.
So I thought to myself what if we, as many Xperia PLAY users, emailed Qualcomm and asked that they either update the GB libs for the Adreno 205 as the processor is about 2-2.5 years old now, or if they would be willing to release the sources and let our kicka$$ devs here have a field day with the sources.
The best link I could find on their site was this:
http://www.qualcomm.com/about/businesses/qct
Just click on "Contact" and email them your requests for these Adreno 205 Libs.. remember stating either updated graphics libs or releasing the sources.
What are your thoughts......? I personally think its worth attempting, because you never know and if it does work either way its a win for all Adreno 205 users not just Xperia PLAYs.
Well it is worth a shot, I just gave it a go, lets see what happens
I've looked into it quite a bit, and Quallcomm have stated that there pretty much isn't a chance in hell that they'll release their sources...
That being said, an update... A sign of hope... Or a push in the right direction... ANYTHING would be better than nothing. And it's unfortunately exactly 'Nothing' that we have received from Quallcomm for well over a year now in terms of GB graphics libs.
The last update (AFAIK) was November 2011, which is the current libs used in most GB ROMs to date.
Since then there have been several updates, however these releases have only been compatible with ICS and JB.

Just a tip, I have looked into this before, and I dont remember which phone it was that was on GB but it got updated GPU libs... and it was running the Adreno 205 processor. I'll see if I can find the thread for it here on XDA and post it below.
I did email Qualcomm as well and asked about this. I know its very likely we will never get a reply, but you never know.
Edit: This isnt what I was intending to find but someone said they flashed the updated Adreno 220 drivers and it worked.... I call BS.... but meh...
http://forum.cyanogenmod.org/topic/56242-adreno-205-gpu-driver/
EDIT 2: Here are some quick search results:

This was what I found earlier.. Please see Spizzy01.. thoughts?

One more for good measure:
http://www.modaco.com/topic/352744-drivers-new-updated-adreno-205-flashable-cwm/
When looking yesterday, I found that the Huawei U8800 (Ideos X5) was apparently the last device with the Andreno 205 to receive an update to its GB graphics libs.
http://www.gsmarena.com/huawei_u8800_ideos_x5-3596.php
So I downloaded a few ROMs in order to extract the libs and try them on AuroraPlay... I'll continue looking into it when I get home from work shortly. It got pretty late last night so I didn't get round to recompiling the ROM and flashing it.
EDIT: In response to the updated '220' drivers. The Adreno '200' series drivers work on all '200' series chips as far as I know. So it would make sense if the 220 drivers were to work on the 205, as they are technically the same driver.
What I posted above I think may be helpful..... crossing fingers.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2000960
The drivers in the Galaxy W thread are pretty much the same as what we are using now. It is also around the same time our last update was received.
To my knowledge, the drivers from Nov 2011 were actually ported from another ROM/Firmware... Not sure which though.
I'm installing the 8800 libs now anyway, I'll let you know if there's any difference... Or if it boots xD
Edit: Looks like its a no-go. I've tried loads of things, it wont boot with the drivers from the 8800. I'm gonna try a combination of the GB/ICS/JB drivers... See if I can get it to not run like a slug... Doubt it though!
I don't have anything to contribute except that Qualcomm is extremely protective of their IP, they just ask to take down AndroidPolice articles that posted something about Qualcomm. There's isn't much of a chance.
My son has a Huawei M886, a phone that shares the same soc as the PLAY. This particular phone got an ICS demo that everyone installed, maybe this rom contains the updated driver you are looking for. I could probably pull the rom off of his phone(I installed cwm on it) but he's still on gingerbread.

The driver we are looking for is a Gingerbread driver.
There have already been updates to the ICS and JellyBean drivers by Quallcomm, the aim of this thread is to try and get them to update the GingerBread drivers or for us to find our own alternative.
I'll download a ROM for the M886 and see what drivers are in it.
I've just put together this set of drivers from one of the M886 GB ROMs.
I'm at work at the moment so can't test them, but if someone else is free you can give them a try if you like.
Be sure to create a CWM backup before you flash these! They are completely untested!

Aww, that's a shame...
Oh well! I guess I'll move onto the next one. I've got some drivers from fairly recent GB ROM for the Adreno 220 - Seeing as the libs are generic for the 200 series, they may be compatible with the 205.
I'll create an update zip for them and post them shortly.

Well, the Xperia S has the Adreno 220 - But I'm finding it difficult to get a GB ROM for it.
It was originally released with Gingerbread, but the only available updates are firmware packages... Not ROM's where the drivers would be easy to extract.
I've checked on XDA and I can't seem to find any GB ROMs for the Xperia S.
I know over at the Chinese site Gfan. They have a huge forum there for our phone (Think XDA for China, and yes I know there is a XDA China.. but this is an alternate site, Gfan is massive in China)
And I just read that there are several threads for other phones where they have successfully converted updated GPU drivers to GB, perhaps I may find something there for our phone. I'll take a look this weekend and report if I find anything.
Also, for those interested to know.. on Gfan you do not need to know Mandarin to communicate, all the younger generations in China are required to learn English, so if you signed up you can reply in English and they will understand.
Now back to this thread

I can't really downgrade the Xperia S without an Xperia S
Anyway, I found a ROM in the end... Drivers from around May last year which isn't too bad...
See attached. Not tested yet.

The most intersting thing is that is is alredy incuded in the leaked ICS Rom. Check Nenamark2, you will get around 25 fps. So looked in the galaxy files to see wich files i need, took them from leaked ics and putted them with rootexplorer to my phone with stock rom. It ended in crashing and bootloop.
I upload them here so maybe a dev can take a look at it.
Dude, you just saved me hours of trying to find this file. I've hit dead end after another, before I came here. Thanks so much for the files.
If I helped, give thanks, if you please.
........Death before dishonor........
I found a thread about that in the arc section, they say that it are not just the libs, the changes are all around the system and even the kernel. Porting it to gingerbread would work but is a lot of work and takes time so we should wait for ICS.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1404670
Someone in my section brought this to my attention, id love to out this into use. I've sent out a butt load of pm's to different dev's asking for advice. Ima check that thread out.

Needs kernel editing, hard work, like, real hard. Best to just wait for ICS.
Still, the 3.0 kernel porting is in progress

Since the xperia x10 mini, galaxy mini and various other ARMV6 ldpi/mdpi devices are all getting MIUI v4 ports, whats the possibility of getting a port to the wildfire. This thread is just to raise awareness of it, and trying to get some developers involved. I may attempt to get a basic port from the galaxy fit or x10 mini working by using the basic tools in the rom kitchen. But thats the best I can do.
xperia x10 mini rom: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1511495
Oh god I hope this goes through and we get a working MIUI ROM.
I've been loving how MIUI looks ever since I first saw it
This sounds nice. Hopefully someone might look into it.
Sounds good to me, I was reading a thread about how they ported it for an mdpi device earlier today, it still sounds like a lot of work resizing but I think it can be done eventually.
I just read that the Armv6 version probably won't have themes.
I'm afraid it's unlikely themes will ever work because of the proprietary binary which MIUI uses to apply themes. It compiled for arm7 only.

If you're going to use that tutorial, use the X10 Mini/Mini Pro version of MIUI most MIUI apps are resized to QVGA. We may have the possiblity of having themes in the future, since more apps are going to be opensourced. Anyway, thanks for providing the link to the tutorial. I'll try it out later.
UPDATE: Turns out its perfectly possible to port between two LDPI devices, I'll get a copy of Ubuntu setup tonight or tommorow, to start editing and compiling. I'll post any updates here.

I'll PM the creators of both the X10 Mini and Galaxy Mini rom in a bit. If anyone can, try the tutorial that nejc121 posted. I've had trouble getting the final zip to flash. But maybe I'm doing something wrong..
UPDATE: Think I figured out the issues with my zip. Recompiling and testing in a minuite.
UPDATE II: Didn't work, can someone else try out the tutorial and see what kind of end results they get?
UPDATE III: Final update of tonight. Returned the update-script back to default ICS. leaving out the offending code from the MIUI tutorial.

ok... but basically my idea is to port a fuly-working rom to the wildy, instead of a cm-dependant one. If a cm7 based miui exists and it's compatible with wildfire, that would be great, it won't be as cool as ICS but it would be a starting point even for other developers, who can still work with android 2.x if they want to;
that's something i'll try to do, i definetly want miui on wildfire, not necessarly ICS miui.

drivers compiled for android ICS and supports hd2 gpu. just wait for a while and it will be integrated into ics roms.
As this phone has a working ICS port you should know that Qualcomm recently released Adreno 2xx drivers for Ice Cream Sandwich. But unfortunately the drivers released were compiled only for armv7 not armv6.
So all armv6 devices with ICS ported are having an unofficial ICS port with a hack to provide hardware acceleration.
This means our phones will never have 100% hardware acceleration in ICS and also not get OFFICIAL CM9 support as they dont allow use of any hacks or patches in their ROMS.
The ICS port on OptimusP500(which i use) is almost bugfree and we were left from getting the official support from cm9 due to this very reason.

It shouldn't be too long before CyanogenMod at least takes a stab at doing JB, so in addition to what nickholtus has already said he's working on, JB shouldn't take too long to make it to us. Given Google's numbering scheme, I would imagine that 4.1 isn't such a monumental change from 4.0 to merit a complete reworking.
